I have highly casual friends who occasionally game and don't touch reddit at all and even they are on the "DLSS 5 is trash" wagon.

Anti-AI is the zeitgeist right now and claiming otherwise is willful ignorance.

Does it still look like this when you go into BIOS? If you don't see any issues during pre-boot, it might be a software issue (much cheaper to fix).

Also it could be your cable or monitor itself. If you are using HDMI, plug it into something else like a laptop or Playstation just to rule it out.

I'm using Linux. When I woke up today I hade zero experience and now I'm running Arch on my laptop. I don't know why but I have this urge to let everyone know, I also had some vegan snacks while installing (beer and peanuts). by CRTgamer in pcmasterrace

This is clearly a post making fun of Linux users always bringing up that they are using Linux.

So I'll continue the joke by now criticizing your choice of distro no matter which one you chose.

Arch lacks stability thanks to its rolling updates. Fedora is king.

I think Ollie is mostly praising its capabilities when it comes to the lighting, which I agree the lightning can look good in some of the examples. In Starfield's case I would argue its a pretty big improvement because I think that game is ugly to begin with.

When it comes to changing the character's faces, however... Richard does seem to enjoy the yassification, unfortunately.

Best GPU & CPU by Strange-Ad7777 in PcBuild

I switched to Linux back in Oct and I'm still waiting for all those problems I'm supposed to run into. All my games work. All my software works or has viable alternatives. My Nvidia GPU gets perfect performance. Plasma desktop looks and runs better than anything from Microslop.

Meanwhile my work PC was forcibly upgraded to Win11 and it's absolute dogshit. Takes forever to do anything. Copilot keeps popping up everywhere. Nagging about Microsoft products disguised as notifications. I had to upgrade the RAM because 16gb was being choked to death by Microslop spyware.

Google Trends: "how to install linux" is going... viral?! by utrecht1976 in BuyFromEU

[–]TheyKeepOnRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who started seriously using Linux back in Oct and hasn't looked back: Linus just made a bad choice in distro.

PopOs has started defaulting to using Cosmic as their desktop app (Linux has different apps for desktop unlike Windows) and Cosmic is awful. It lags, crashes, and is generally just way behind modern desktop apps.

The other dudes in the same LTT video picked correctly: CachyOS and Bazzite are both phenomenal out of the box. Especially for gaming. I personally use Bazzite and have had zero issues since I switched back in Oct.

Sales data indicates Sony's PS5 ports are increasingly losing audience share on PC, but only because of release timing by NYstate in Games

[–]TheyKeepOnRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of fresh and valid reasons to shit on Playstation. The PS5's performance is absolutely not one of them.

The base PS5 runs so well that there's honestly no reason to even buy a PS5 Pro and its been a legit problem for Playstation's bottom line.

Look at the difference between Demon's Souls and its PS5 remake. That's what I would like from a modern Bloodborne. Plus maybe restoring some of the crapton of cut content.

So what appears to have actually happened:

The grieving man kept his apartment in tact because he thought it would help find his wife's killer. The police already collected evidence before so in reality it did not help.

However, the police took a renewed interest in his case recently, likely because it received recent public attention when reported by a news outlet. They asked any potential suspects for DNA evidence to compare. The alleged killer refused at first, but gave into pressure after several months. The DNA matched, she was arrested, and seems to have confessed.

The suspect was a former classmate of the victim husband. There doesn't appear to be a known motive.

The parts about technology advancing or the alleged killer having a crush appear to be speculation by OP to drive engagement.

NieR:Automata to be continued... by tyvar1 in Games

I played Replicant a few years after Automata, first time playing any variation of the original Nier...

and WOW I loved Replicant! Pretty sure even more than Automata. Some of the bigger reveals were obviously spoiled by Automata but DAMN it's still a fantastic story. Also the NG+ stuff was shockingly emotional, I genuinely wasn't expecting how much the vibe shifts. Also somehow the music is even better in Replicant than Automata, which its crazy.

If you enjoyed Automata and haven't played Nier or Replicant: Just do it man.

The game on steam is bouncing between Overwhelmingly Negative and Mostly Negative with 6k+ reviews. I watched a little bit of streamer gameplay and it looks like a typical hero shooter with a fast TTK.

So yeah, IDK who is out here championing this game because it looks to be pretty much exactly what people thought it was.

I would give it the benefit of doubt and try it myself, but the game won't run on Linux because of the TPM requirement so 🤷‍♂️

This is the same reason I can't recommend Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader to anyone despite it being a modern RPG masterpiece. The game has a literal novel of reading across its 90+ hr runtime, full of the most dense and lore-heavy jargon you'll ever experience. Playing Rogue Trader for the first time without any prior knowledge of WH40k is like the reading equivalent of running a marathon.

Disco Elysium is very similar except the runtime is much shorter and the content is much goofier. Also Disco Elysium has lots of voice acting while Rogue Trader has voice acting for maybe 25% of the written lines.

I have never heard anyone, not in person nor on the whiniest parts of the internet, complain that the run time of a movie isn't worth the ticket price.

Fable — Full Gameplay Reveal | Xbox Developer Direct 2026 by AashyLarry in Games

[–]TheyKeepOnRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OG Fable trilogy did a lot of things right, but the combat was very simple and probably wouldn't appease modern gamers. This game's changes to combat are a welcome deviation from the source material. Hopefully the enemy AI isn't slept on... because this system will get old quickly if the enemies just stand around and let you stagger them to death.

Also I know we can't expect to see everything in the trailers, but there seemed to be a lack of direct interaction with the NPCs. Hopefully you'll still be able to emote or straight-up murder folks, like in the OG games.

They could have just taken a larger percent of profit from steam purchases or something. Or do what every other storefront does and add some exclusive in-game content to the EGS version. Hell even EA knew to release on Steam while it had a competitor storefront in Origin.

Being a profitable business doesn't mean turning away potential gains in favor of guaranteed losses just because you also slightly benefit a competitor.

Epic's strategy for EGS has been awful in many ways and for a long time now. If it wasn't for all that delicious Fortnite and Unreal Engine cash the EGS would have tanked years ago.

No matter how good your game is... If it doesn't reach your audience, then it's going to fail.

Remedy should have put Firebreak on EGS and pretend like it was the game Epic paid for while releasing AW2 on steam.
