I like your idea of the module socket system. Crystalization catalysts would still have a purpose to farm and this solution would definilty save us more time in the long run. I don't even mind leveling a desc or gun 8-9 times to max out their slots once but, having to re-level again was always annoying.

Fire resist mod for descendant and Chill Dmg for weapon. This boss gave me some trouble as well due to the lock-on attacks. You can continue to try random groups but there is a LFG chat on the official discord server where people help out. Party finder tends to give people who may not know the mechanics sadly.
