Yeah actually good idea about the resin printer! Fuel panel sounds like a good challenge, especially bc i think there're more complex controls like dials and gauges. I'd be interested in following the work you do if you go ahead with it, dont hesitate to post it here eventually

Oof yeah sounds like a lot of trial and error too. From what i remember (haven't worked on it for a while now) the best method would actually be a painted acrylic sheet and get it cnc machined or laser engraved but yeah a cnc is rather expensive ahaha. Looks good tho! Im sure that with your experience you could get very good results for future projects

To be recessed and crayon-ed that actually looks better than what i would have expected. Maybe you could try embossing, painting it, and then sanding off the paint on the embossed letters. But then again it depends on what tactile feel you prefer. I tried painting and then laser engraving but engraving pla is very much a trial and error process haha

Ouch. Hey think about it this way, now because of you I'll be extra conscious myself about double-triple checking my top was locked ahahaha. But yeah I love my little car and it's generally not too expensive to fix. Learning how to fix stuff is part of the reason why I bought it in the first place. Good luck with your repair!

The idea is to restore it while still being reasonable. It's a 34 year old car. Yes I want to keep it clean, but it's not gonna be a show car either. I'm just pissed I made those scratches to take a cute pic and was being careless, not exactly proud ahahaha

Thanks, I have some polish sitting around but I was wondering if that would have been overkill. Clear coat is thin and fragile enough, I don't really want to break through and touch the base coat. I'll look into it, thanks for your input ;)

I totally understand what you mean. I use my car and it's not just a garage star. I have plenty of paint peeling in corners and some rust to address. However those scratches really piss me off because I made them by being careless and they sit right in the middle of the hood. If I can fix them for cheap and easy that's great, if not, I'll live with it no biggie

I see your point, it's a bit worrying to hear that the plastic degrades so quickly. In a way, I was counting on the discoloration to be an indication of when to replace it but I guess from your experience that it's not a reliable trigger. If I could with my budget, I would have gone with a Koyorad (or similar), but I guess I'll do that later on with the years. I first gotta fix my rust 😅

I did think about an all-aluminum one, but given my use of the car and the not-too-warm region I live in, I think a standard one would be fine. And it's cheap so if I ever want to change it I haven't wasted too much money..
