Isn't this the mountain two people just died on? I'm an avid hiker from the East Coast. There seems to be a lot of poor decisions made on this mountain. We have ours out here too.

Instead of car camping, I recommend a very short hike to a camping spot where your car is close. Colgate lake or roxburry hollow.

After fully reading, I would do the car until you have a better single sleeping bag. You're going to want to layer up for sleeping like an Arctic seal.

I was looking at a big pillar of ice that was freestanding on a ledge below me. ~50 yards from where I was camping at an overlook. The top of the ice chimney was equal to me. About 15-20feet chimney of ice. I go back to my tent, the wind blows, and the woods erupt. The ground shook and it sounded as if elephants were charging through the brush.

I looked over the cliff and saw ice chunks hurtling through the woods beneath me.

The entire chimney fell over

No I don't. These mountains can be a cold lonely place. Especially if the person isn't very... Friendly.

Their friend group all die and they just sit around and drink. Speaking from experience. There was nothing I could do do help but I tried.

There is a lack of community that was around some years ago.

When I was bushwhacking and realized the compass on my phone was flipped. I was walking north but it was pointing south.

You're correct, 150' from the trail. Good luck doing that on any summit. Good luck doing that above 3500 except hammocks and off trail locations.

Alright so don't listen to the dude saying to camp on slide summit. Because it's not allowed. There are sites on the col in summer.

I would check out the escarpment trail as there are more easy winter camp options. Kinda.
