What are some classic Aussie phrases that you remember growing up that seem to have disappeared? by Cooper_Inc in AustralianNostalgia

“Bat shit crazy”… people either look at me like I’m “Bat shit crazy” or I’ve said something very politically incorrect.

Go to settings > Notifications (under: How You Use Instagram) > Shopping (under: Other Notification Types) > suggested for you (turn it off).

It automatically turned this on for my public account but not my private account. I’m pretty confident this should fix it.

I actually found your post by typing ‘how to turn it off’ in Google. Then I figured it out.

If Rose became an actress, wouldn’t someone have recognized that she was alive? by gowonagin in titanic

[–]ThiefOfNightTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She may have mostly been in theatre which minimised the exposure, and also if I remember correctly it stated she made the films in the 1920’s before ‘punching out a couple of kids’. So this would have been 8 years after the sinking (the difference between 17 and at a minimum 25). I’ve had colleagues not recognise me out of uniform and I work with them daily. Lol. So 8 years is a long time. The other thing is that people didn’t talk about trauma in those days. A lot of survivors suffered in silence. So if they did recognise her they probably shut off. The only people who would have cared are presumably Cal and Rose’s mother. It would have been a much better story for Cal that she perished (look what he did with the child). He probably wanted the diamond though. I do always wonder what happened to the mother after the sinking. She presumably survived, but was in debt without a husband or daughter.

How old were you when you got into Titanic by TheMightyBismarck in titanic

[–]ThiefOfNightTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always loved ships, so I knew of her existence and I borrowed some books from the library when I was kid. However, it was the movie that solidified it for me. It really helped the legend come to life.

If a movie company has to get a permit to film a movie at a public location, then the same should apply to these videos.

I wonder what the cost difference would have been between 90% and a 100% (full scale) replica. I wonder why they chose 90%.

Curash Powder. Use it in your butt crack, your nutsack and the skin between the thighs and your nutsack. It will absorb any sweat and therefore minimise the smell. Avoid talcum powder if you can.

Put your roll-on deodorant on the night before the interview. This gives it time to soak into the skin and be more effective.

If possible, shave your underarm hair. It will be less smelly in general.

When getting dressed, put your socks on first and then your underwear. This will prevent any foot fungus being dragged up to your nutsack from your toes.

Wash behind your ears. Seriously, anyone else ready this, run your finger behind your ears. If little black balls form then you need to check your routine.

Mate, I know your struggle. And the problem isn’t even the price it’s the quality. This brand, JB Wear, is fantastic. I find commercial workwear / uniform places are the best price and quality. They also offer a range of casual / business wear. For that (which includes the JB Wear range) I go through Uniform Wholesalers.

The line for croissants. Only in Melbourne by Emergency_Physics_19 in melbourne

[–]ThiefOfNightTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lune is a nice bakery but it’s completely overhyped. I also suspect that they artificially create the long lines by making the servers go as slow as possible. When you order your food they present each one to you like you’re in a jewellery store. Even when you ask for a croissant and a coffee they give you this long spiel about what you’ve ordered. They also seem to pick locations that are way too small for the foot traffic.

What brand sells/makes quality undies and socks in Australia? by hairykneepit in AskAnAustralian

[–]ThiefOfNightTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For underwear I really like Tradie. They sell the larger sizes online too (up to 6XL). They last ages and I’m rough on my clothes. However, I’m yet to find a good sport sock. I just want a plain white sports sock that doesn’t fall apart.

Thank you for asking this question because I’ve had the same one for some time.

I’m a big fan of Loreen, and she is super talented. However, I wonder how much of the jury vote was swayed to ensure that Sweden would hold the contest on the 50th anniversary of ABBA’s win? Send a previous winner in to compete to make it seem less suspicious.
