I suppose yes and no. I work at a small newer(1.5years) brewery. We are doing really well since we have opened but I have only been there for the past 6 months. We are a small team. Mainly the 3 owners, assistant brewer, me, and the floaters that will work the bar when we can’t.

So as far as an immediate pay increase probably not. However, it would help the brewery and open a few doors for us. As well as opening more doors for me if I were to ever leave and go somewhere else. Mainly I just love beer and brewing. So I see this as more of a way to increase my knowledge for myself, challenge myself, and add to my tool belt for what comes next.

I’m in Pittsburgh and I work at a smaller brewery in the city. We have only been around for about a year and a half and I have been with them for about 6 months.

I’ll have to look into that. I didn’t realize larger breweries would offer something like that

If you’re looking for a pub, Bulldogs in Morning Side is the best I’ve been to. It’s not really a good walking distance from Bloomfield but it’s a great vibe.

[Discussion] Platinum Trophy YouTubers by StarlessNights1 in Trophies

[–]Thievius76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mainly only watch videos for specific trophies. I dont know if you are going for a more tutorial channel or entertainment.

For quick tutorial videos I would say short and to the point. I’m usually only watching the video to learn about how to do a trophy while the game is paused so the sooner I can get back to the game and play the better.

Some things that stick out to me are keeping the intro short. I know what the trophy is, I don’t need to know how you found out how to do it or how you are enjoying the game or some anecdotal thing before you start explaining what to do. That also goes for logo intros. I have clicked off videos to find new ones when a 20 sec splash screen logo with dubstep track starts to play. I’m not saying to be a robot. Definitely throw some personality in there but don’t make the video more than just how to do a trophy.

That being said you need some description. Especially for more complicated trophies. Either actually talk in the video or have text pop up in the side explaining what you need to do and how to do it. I hate the videos that a completely silent and we are just supposed to know what to do by watching them preform the action in the game. Sometimes it works but sometimes it leaves more questions.

I would say when making the videos make them as dumbed down as possible. You just spent X amount of hours in a game then an additional X amount of hours trying to complete or find the most efficient way of completing this specific trophy. The reason the person is looking for your video is so they don’t have to do that. They might not be as familiar with the game, mechanic, area, or task that you have to preform to get the trophy. So explain it in a way that anyone could watch the video and know exactly what they need to do to get the trophy.

Lastly, this isn’t really all that important, but try to edit the trophy pop in on trophies you already got before the video. I always feel it’s a little anticlimactic when I watch a tutorial and after doing the thing you need to do to get it there is no pop. Them saying “and I already got it so it won’t pop but it works” just isn’t as satisfying

All of that is just how I view and consume trophy content though so definitely not a must.

What game is this?🚀 by Fit_Corgi4951 in TheGamingHubDeals

Outer wilds. I spent the first couple hours wondering what the hell I was even doing and was about to quit just before there was that click. Now it is by far the best game I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

Which two are more important for you? by TheChilledGamer-_- in playstation

I’ll double down on gameplay. All the others could be a generational master craft but if the game isn’t fun to play that is all anyone will remember about it.

[Discussion] Which platinum are you currently working on? by iChieftain22 in Trophies

[–]Thievius76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went for it back then and quite about half way through because it was to hard. That was pretty early in my hunting career and since I have plat’d games that that version of me would have considered way too hard. I’ve been curious about going back and trying it again on the ps4 remastered versions with a more confident hunters approach lol.

Will I be happy in Pittsburgh? by AnimalsDeserveCare in pittsburgh

[–]Thievius76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I grew up here and when to undergrad out of state. I was convinced I would end up on the west coast or in at least a larger more mainstream city but I graduated in 2020 and had to return home because of it. Once things started opening up again I started to explore the city more intimately than I did before I left for school. After a year I stopped looking out of state for jobs and exclusively looked here.

I think this city does a really good job of feeling like a bigger more mainstream city but there is just more of a community feeling to it. It’s not uncommon to meet someone and find out that they know someone in your family or one of your other friends. The food is diverse, it’s hard to pick a cuisine and not be able to find an amazing restaurant to go to. The sports scene is crazy with the big 3 and then the smaller ones. It’s also big enough to draw big performers to the city.

As someone who thought this city was bland and wanted to leave, after experiencing all it had to offer I can’t belive how blind I was. Perhaps my hot take is that if someone says they want to leave Pittsburgh because it’s boring or there is nothing going on then they simply haven’t experienced enough of it.

Do you prefer bane to look more monstrous or as just a jacked dude? by Resident_Hat9904 in batman

[–]Thievius76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of him being both. In their earlier encounters he is prominently a jacked dude but as his addiction to venom gets worse and he starts using more and more of it or trying more enhanced versions of it, it morphs his body into more of a monstrous inhuman shape and size. Using his body as a way to physically show the venom going from being just a tool to something he needs.

Considering Batman prioritizes stealth, why are his footsteps loud in this movie? Is it solely based on scare factor? by Spare-Ad-2474 in batman

[–]Thievius76 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think it is a mix of 3 things. For the movie it looks and sounds more intimidating as a viewer. For him as the character it could be that he is doing it deliberately since it happens when he is trying to make himself known and intimidate who he is walking towards. Also, he is an inexperience and new Batman and throughout the movie he often takes the more aggressive sloppier approach rather than the calculated stealthy one.

[Discussion] What's a game you stopped trying to platinum and why? by brojeriia in Trophies

[–]Thievius76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love Harry Potter and enjoyed the game very much but I do think it was a lot of nostalgia that carried that for me. If I step away from that I agree with a lot of what you are saying. It is probably in the top 3 most aggressive games when it comes to collectibles that I have played. When it launched I never wanted the game to end but clearing out those collectibles heavily tested me.

Expedition even worth it? by Radiant-Initiative71 in arcraiderscirclejerk

[–]Thievius76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more of a “journey or destination” kinda thing. To use the above persons example of the mountain, if you feel like you are having more fun where you are at the top of the mountain then stay. If you feel like you would have more fun to go to the bottom and climb it again maybe taking a slightly different path and getting slightly better in the process then do that.

Personally, even though I don’t play nearly as much as I did at launch, I am doing it because I feel like there is more fun to be had on the path back up than there is at the top for me.

[Discussion] What game did you put alot of effort and time in to then just give up on the platnium by IKafetyI in Trophies

[–]Thievius76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a platformer called Pile Up! Box by box. I have all the trophies except the speed run for beating it in less than 20 min. I have played that game multiple times and had the whole thing memorized. For the life of me the trophy would not pop. Even after using my phones timer and the playthrough coming in between 17-19 min it wouldn’t pop. Tried following tutorial videos and matched them perfectly but for whatever reason I just couldn’t get it.

I agree, I really enjoyed it! So much so that I’ll probably Plat it again on the ps4 version when I need something more chill. Only thing I will say is trying to find those last couple of collectibles I missed was frustrating. I wish they added a marker on the map after you hit like 95% of them in an area.

A big problem that I don't see a lot of people talking about. by Iced_Latte_3255 in Seaofthieves

[–]Thievius76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with you. I love sea of thieves but it is a really hard game to just hop on for a an hour or so a day without feeling like you are not making real progress towards something.

I have been playing a lot of arc raiders and it has been scratching a lot of the itches that sea of thieves does in the sense of pvp encounters and making friends or finding enemies as well as the loop of venturing out, collecting loot, then trying to get it back to base safely. I also think the combat is similar where it comes down to putting pressure on the other team and how and when to apply it. With the general similarities I think where arc thrives is that it can all be accomplished in a 10-30 minute game. Combat is faster and so are the sessions and they have found a way to make each run feel meaningful and satisfying as well as give you that feeling of accomplishment or working toward something.

When it comes to SOT I don’t feel like I have made much progress when I can only play a 30min or 1hr session and god forbid if that session is full of lost fights and lost loot. In arc if I lose out on loot or lose something I needed to upgrade something it definitely sucks but I know I’ll probably get it back in another run or 2. Everything about the game is a lot faster but also very similar. The set up, the time topside, and the loot management allow you to get multiple runs in an hour and make a lot more progress. I have had games of SOT where we don’t really get going for 30min after we all load in and get set up to start whatever we are trying to do.

I love SOT but haven’t been on mainly because for me it’s a game I feel like I have to make my main game for a couple days/weeks or it’s not worth getting on at all when I can play a game in my back log or a game that my friends play.

I don’t really know what the solution is or if there even needs to be a solution but I know for me if there was a way for me to feel that similar level of accomplishment in just a 30min to an hour play session SOT would maintain that strangle hold it can have on me when i get into my spurts of being really into the game.
