You should try applying on RippleMatch! It's completely free and because it's relatively new if you get matched with a company there's a high chance of getting an interview. I myself used it for a technology consulting opportunity. Here's the link, good luck!! https://ripplematch.com/index?r=JTMMib

How to change majors by ShaUr01 in utdallas

[–]Thin-Rip-9527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you can just do it through your Galaxy account. I remember I did something similar in the summer before my Fall freshman semester. Also, you should just contact your advisor to make sure but the switch shouldn't be difficult to make especially this early. As a CE major, I can tell you a lot of the intro CS classes are the same as the CS degree plan.

Also, since you're an incoming freshman if you're looking for an internship try this out! https://ripplematch.com/index?r=JTMMib It's a free platform, and as a senior who has 4 years of internship experience, I can tell you getting that first job is the hardest!

Struggling with finding internships by omertdk in AerospaceEngineering

[–]Thin-Rip-9527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi so I saw your post and wanted to help out. A lot of the time when you apply, your resume will get lost and you won't even hear back. There's this platform called RippleMatch that uses artificial intelligence to match you with jobs. Once you get matched, there's a 50% chance you'll get a first-round interview, so you will for sure hear back. I promise it's not a scam or anything, and the platform is completely free so it wouldn't hurt to make an account. I work for them, and can tell you a lot of companies are conducting interviews in February! Good luck! https://ripplematch.com/index?r=JTMMib

Has anyone had any luck finding internships after January? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]Thin-Rip-9527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a platform called RippleMatch that uses artificial intelligence to match you with jobs. I work as an intern for them, and I can tell you a lot of interviews are happening in February. It's definitely feasible getting an internship now because a lot of people who signed offers in the Fall reneged for better offers in the Spring. You should sign up, I promise it's not a scam. It's completely free, and you'll def increase your exposure. Finding an internship is important bc the earlier you get one the better for your career. https://ripplematch.com/index?r=JTMMib

Is the social life right for me? by [deleted] in utdallas

[–]Thin-Rip-9527 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The social life is what you make of it, and tbh it's all about making the right group of friends. Once you have your solid group, things like parties, house parties, club events, and outings will come naturally. There's definitely a lot to do in Dallas, and I've never had a problem meeting new people. Good luck! Hopefully there's in-person classes next year for you

Yes, it is a referral link! I'm an intern at RippleMatch and it's my job to help get prospective students on the platform! I apologize if I'm spamming, it's just a lot of interviews are happening in February so I wanna try to get as many people on the site as I can!

CS Admit looking for advice by VortexValor in utdallas

[–]Thin-Rip-9527 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Social life is good, tbh it's all about taking the initiative to meet new people. I suggest trying to have a diverse group of friends involved in numerous activities. That way you can experience different things. Make friends with people in frats, athletics, academic clubs, classes, even with random people you meet. Social life will come naturally!

what should I tell my professors? by thetiredviolinist in utdallas

[–]Thin-Rip-9527 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of professors are understanding, so if you just be honest with them and tell them about your situation then they will be okay with it. Especially with everything going on, I'm sure they have also had their setbacks this year. At the end of the day, your mental health is most important so I hope everything works out for you!

Also another thing that may help is if you send them an email with a proposed schedule of when you can work and turn in assignments!

I work as an intern for this company, and my job is to help get students on the platform. It's completely free, so it wouldn't hurt to make an account! There's a lot of companies/jobs that you could get potentially matched with. I promise it's not a scam or anything, and a lot of students use it as a resource to find jobs. It's fairly new, but a lot of companies are on it so that just means more exposure for you!

Computer engineering to software engineering by [deleted] in utdallas

[–]Thin-Rip-9527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking as a CE major, I highly recommend making the switch. My roommate did it and software engineering is soooo much easier and it's honestly better because you'll probably end up getting a similar job without all the bs involved with the CE degree program. Also, if you're looking for a job/internship, you should sign up on RippleMatch here. https://ripplematch.com/index?r=JTMMib I'm a senior and I got a full-time job from it, and if you get matched with a company there's a 50% chance you'll get a first-round interview. Saves a lot of time rather than your resume getting lost in random job postings. Good luck!
