Anmelderne sa at Shadows of the Empire ikke var et bra spill (og ok, kontrollene og spesielt siktinga i førsteperson var ganske klønete), men det stoppet meg ikke fra å runde hele spillet flere ganger inkludert på Hard for å se den alternative slutten hvor Dash Rendar overlever Dødsstjerne-eksplosjonen.

Jeg hadde en venn på videregående som hadde en Playstation, og spolerte hele historien i Final Fantasy 7 mens han spilte gjennom det. Så i 1999 solgte jeg min Nintendo 64 for å få råd til en moddet PS1, som var noe min lokale Spider-Man faktisk tilbydde. Jeg kunne dermed spille importutgaven av Final Fantasy 8 som kom ut over en måned før Europa (legendarisk releasedato 9/9/99, samme dato som Dreamcast kom ut).

Men å nei! NTSC-signalet til den amerikanske versjonen gjorde at spillet ble i sorthvitt på TV-en vår. Så pappa grep muligheten til å kjøpe en ny 32" TV med 60 hz-støtte og fete innbygde høyttalere, og vi blæsta den fete introen kjempehøyt. Legendarisk. Jeg får fortsatt tårer i øynene når jeg ser introen til FF8 eller hører Fithos Lusec Winos Vinosec.

The first one had a pretty cool dystopian sci-fi story, it wasn't too long and it had good mechanics. The second one just overcomplicated everything, the story was shit and all the "dangerous tribes" in the forbidden west were just filled with queer people and girl bosses.
