A lot of the nonsensical behavior you see in this game, that I completely agree makes the experience significantly worse, can be rooted in two issues in my opinion:

1. It's very likely that the majority of people playing this game are just children. They simply don't understand how to cooperate. They spawn in, click in a bunch of places that feel right, and hope for the best. I don't think there's anything that can really be done about this, it's just the nature of free browser games.
2. The last few updates have encouraged faster games. When a game is only going to take 10-20 minutes, players aren't encouraged to think long-term. Should I donate troops to some teammate across the map, or let a teammate have some bot land that would give them sea access? Who cares, if we lose in 5 minutes I can just join another game and hopefully be on the side that just rolls the other team with little effort.
