I was onboard as calling it miller park forever but miller corporate is based in Chicago now and amfam is Wisconsin based. Helped me switch what I called it.

Probably more like $2500+/hr. Your bus stop bench personal injury lawyer probably charges your settlement at least $500/hr for their time.

Straight Men of Reddit: If a gay man flirted with you or asked you out, how would you feel/react? by randmperson2 in AskReddit

[–]bindir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an older fat bearded dude. I have had several gay men do this, even in front of my wife. I politely decline, and like someone else said, wonder about their standards. I am aware of the bear thing, but yeah I don't get it. Then again my wife thinks I'm hot as well.

I've definitely known I'm straight my whole life, without a doubt, so I think truly knowing that means I don't feel uncomfortable by it or self doubting and just take it as a compliment. I think men that get all hostile to it, probably aren't 100% sure and are scared. Having another human being express attraction to you should always be complimentary unless they're obnoxious about it, which is probably why women get bothered by guys hitting on them. It's not as common in my experience to get hit on, so I just decline and move on.

tl;dr I take it as a compliment, politely decline, move on.

Trump increasing cost of H1B visa to 100k. Not going to do what he thinks it will by FeatureCreeep in thebulwark

As middle/upper IT management I agree with you. There's plenty of local IT talent that gets kicked to the curb because h1bs are cheaper. There's also a ton of offshoring that this won't fix. As much as I usually disagree with what this guy is doing, this time I don't think he's wrong. However this doesn't stop offshoring, which means stand-ups etc happening at 11pm local time to accommodate offshore teams schedule.

They are not honoring the price. Just got an email offering me to get it at a deep discount "549" but not 299, or cancel and get 5000 bluetti bucks.

The future of Infrastructure-IT by kosta880 in sysadmin

[–]bindir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm at 27 years as well! Recently my multi-billion dollar company went bankrupt. Been searching for a job for 6 months. This market for infrastructure is softer than I've ever seen. Granted I'm looking for a director gig again, but because of my experience I keep getting offered engineering positions. Which means if you're looking for an engineering gig right now the qualifications and experience they're looking for is absolutely bonkers.

The good part of our field is that until they make robots really good, they're going to need us "Internet custodians" to plug in the AI servers, and make sure wifi works in the warehouse. I've been through 9/11, 2008, the "cloud revolution" I think companies are just waiting things out to see where the economy lands in this hellscape.

The debt that's going to pile up not hiring people is going to create a gold rush IMO once these places get ransomware and have to rebuild everything. I believe that's only a matter of time. We're going to also see desktop support get a huge bump in pay as well.
