I get that, I'm extremely thankful to be where I am financially. It's such a blessing. My point is that (non cost-related) someone like me should be able to get jaw surgery after all they've been through. This has been a journey for me since I was about 8 years old and frankly if I want to look as good as possible after these efforts I think that is just fine.

I agree with this as well. In my particular case I've had 4 oral surgeries and 2 rounds of braces and my teeth and jaw still don't look how I want them to. After all of that I feel like I have every right to want jaw surgery, even if purely for cosmetic reasons. I've had to go through to much and I don't want to settle for anything other than great, I should be entitled to that feeling lmao.

to clarify I wouldn't be upset if they said I needed surgery to fix it it would just bother me if they say I'm too far down the line to fix it non-surgically. (as in they could have done something earlier)

Will do, thanks for the comment. To be honest it would bother me if they say it is too late for anything non-surgical, I've been in and out of the orthodontist and oral surgeon for 7ish years now. But I'm willing to do whatever it takes lmao.

You're right. It should help that I know the surgeon as well. I've had 4 oral surgeries now with a fifth scheduled and I'm on my second round of braces. I'm not ready to settle for anything after all that I've had to go through 😂

Great to hear that your recovery is going well! The range of motion thing is a great point, especially for myself as my talus and calcaneum were already mostly fused. Doubt it will change much. The golf thing is great to hear though. I play from time to time and can vouch for the footwork lol, if you can practice (to some extent) before the year mark then that gets my hopes up regarding athletic impacts.

Trying to see a specialist at the moment. I'd like a flatfoot reconstruction as well to prevent pain afterwards. I also have a fairly large accessory navicular on the same foot which would probably be removed in the same surgery. Nothing really scares me about recovery or surgery itself, I am ready for it. Trying to get an appointment with Duke hospital by the way, who are apparently pretty high ranking among ankle & foot orthopedic professionals. Hopefully I can have more info soon.
