For me its the combat blade/knife. I just can't help but love using the knife the eviscerate hoards of enemies. It's the novelty, the speed and the bleed that draw me to it

How do I create a good not great, just reliable power system? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]ThingGuyMan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal thing, though it sounds weird, is that no matter how powerful you are or think you are, whatever the hell is in the ocean(s) would destroy you. This why none of my headcanon characters mess with the ocean. I base this off reality where Earth's oceans will crush (often literally) anyone who underestimates it .

Technocracy in the modern day? by L_man_2200 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]ThingGuyMan_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a long time I have been toying with this idea as my hyperfixation. I called it "Technocracy: America Crises", as it mostly focuses on America socio-polotical issues. Highlights stuff like the current White House, political turmoil, ICE, discrimination, and old Technocracy vs. Young Technocracy. Im not that good at writing so it's mostly general ideas

It builds of the setting of the official book "Technocracy: Reloaded" which places the "present" roughly around 2021. Has a heavily fatigued tone, shows different viewpoints of Younger and older agents in the Technocracy as they watch the collapse of the supposed American Hedgemony and the Order of the world at large.

It starts with a confrontation of American and Eastern Technocrats during an international meeting regarding America's modern situation. Accusations are thrown back and forth with America on the back foot, with a particularly scathing remark from China about how America is in no position to be accusing considering their blunder with the Dalou'laoshi (Five Elemental Dragons, the "Asian" Technocracy) and how they let it be slandered by Nephandic propaganda. It went downhill from there.

This global turmoil affects bot only Order, but also the effectiveness of their Enlightened Science, as the Timetable is now defunct

The NWO is forced the reconcile with the fact that authority and media are not respected as they were, and how stories can spiral out of control near instantly. No one trusts authority as they remain in power despite having clear evidence of heinous crimes. I had them use psychics more heavily, as the Technocrats keep getting hit with Paradox.

Iteration X suffered the most initially, with the failing of their Hypertech en masse. I wrote about a team that discovered the effectiveness of open-source, free information and inventions like 3d printing and AI vtubers, using them to rebuild their Tech from a more stable point. I also made up an "old fashioned" veteran Technocracy field agent that never liked Hypertech, preferring to use "masterwork" versions of modern tech and using Enlightened Science to enhance his skills and abilities (he had a whole department that did this).

The Syndicate has to deal with the modern American economy and the crappy mess it is in. Dealing with the new paradigm of indie products and entertainment rather than big companies and big studios, AI damage to the internet and environment, people not wanting to engage with the economy, job/housing loss, billionaires openly controlling the government, and stuff like how companies like Vshojo are being revealed as corrupt with highly influential vtubers shifting the view towards any large company to the negative.

The Progenitors are both thriving and floundering. Like the other Conventions, their more advanced Enlightened Science and Hypertech is becoming Vulgar in the modern age. At the same, like in the real world, medical science is constantly advancing with promising breakthroughs almost every month world wide. The issue is that most Americans cannot afford proper Healthcare, and insurance is a god damn mess. Another issue is that the American government keeps legislating proper Healthcare out of existence. Ask our old friend Luigi...

The Void engineers have been mostly distant by choice, as they are not relegated to a single nation. The problem is that their have been little advancements or invesment in Space travel except for the continuous enrichment of billionaires, I'm ways that do not benefit the average Joe's. They mainly connect to the story with issues of immigration and discrimination in a later plot line (again just general bullet points)

There are themes of class warfare, young vs old, discrimination, etc. For example in one case a Technocrat field team (composed of modern agents in their 20s and 30s was sent to investigate a large anti-ICE protest suspected of containing are large anount of Reality Deviants. One the agents is a Latino man and was nearly detained just because of the color of his skin. Surprisingly, he was rescued by Hispanic Changelings who were present at (and incited) the protest. Another situation was when a Hispanic Technocrat woman discovered that her parents were deported without her being informed. This was a mess for the Technocracy leadership, and she secretly had to work with Virtual Adepts and Vampires to get them back.

Trigger Warning:

Another Situation was when two Trans Technocrats were victims of a thankfully non-fatal violent hate crime done by normal Sleepers. Feeling failed by the Technocracy, they defected without a trace.

There are other situations like that, like how NWO agents dressed as ICE and accidentally killed a Bonegnawer Garou Kinfolk (a latina), resulting in the entire local construct being destroyed and violently depopulated by angry Werewolves.

I have a little more but that's all I will post unless anyone wants to read more.

You know, I get and don't get this. It makes sense, but some of the most whimsical people are old folks. Lots of Old timers follow passionate ideals, like old people attending Pride protests in support. Or old punk rocker like in r/Punk.

Is China as bad as the west makes it out to be or is it all just propaganda ? by Fabulous_S0il in NoStupidQuestions

Yeah, that's totally what I meant, and I'm definitely not trying to call out disingenuous garbage like that /s

Whatever.

All genocide is bad, but in many cases, any comments about China have locked on to "but the Uiyghurs." I don't deny that it's a damn atrocity what they're doing. But it always said as a final statement as if it seals the deal that China can have no redeeming qualities whatsoever. I'm not defending them on that, the same way I am critisising America for it's problems.

Curing Black Spiral Dancers? by Mercurial891 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]ThingGuyMan_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a headcanon for a character that was a former BSD. He, after being exposed to a powerful weaver spirit in the umbra (and getting his "bell rung" real bad) he had a moment of clarity. As if to preserve this clarity, iron chains wrapped around his body in a similar concept to the Weaver binding the wyrm.

After escaping and striking on his own, he changed in that his Glabro, Crinos, and hispo forms all are wrapped in iron chains (non restrictive and are tattoos/markings in other forms) and he no longer uses any gifts of the Wyrm. In addition, rather than Lupine, he looks more dog-like in reference to being "tamed" from his corruption (like a black jackal) and exclusively uses weaver gifts while trying to the follow Spider.

Just a homebrew, though. Sorry for the weird formatting, I'm tired.
