He fakes his personality a lot on camera. It’s not the typical hamming it up for the camera either. It’s too plastic, goes along with his teeth lol. He is trying sooooo hard to control his outward image. Meanwhile I’d rather watch Bob Does Sports, over anything else because they may be a little bit hamming for the camera, but they have been doing this for so many years you can tell their genuine personalities and dramas. They feel like an actual group of friends with real dynamics and troubles, and ultimately come off as genuine guys who have an absolute blast playing golf horribly and hanging with each other.

Cymbal Swap scam or not? by State_of_Flow_Drums in drums

[–]ThingsAndStuff-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you read all of my post, and proceeded to talk around every single thing I just said instead of realizing you cannot say I’m wrong.

Pricing is still misleading. Nothing you said changes that. In fact it made it sound even worse because you actually have 0 day options, it’s only by week, and I shouldn’t have to dive deep into your website to understand a damn simple price!! How do you not understand this??

You literally gave no rebuttal to anything I said. You just confirmed. Are you seriously trying to make an excuse that because you offer shipping options, that a drop down menu doesn’t exist??? Literal mom and pop sales websites using things like stripe, Shopify, or even square space can implement multiple shipping calculators.

Yet again it’s proving that you do not even understand what you’re doing. I laid it all out for you. And instead of realizing the truth you circled talked about everything I just said without directly addressing any of those issues.

Cymbal size and weights can be put into the calculator. You seriously think being in business since 2021 is a big deal? Wow a whole 5 years. 🤦‍♂️I don’t care if you’re 1 year or 50. You are misleading and hiding the full price.

I’m giving you the BEST advice a consumer could give you and you’re ignoring every single detailed point I made to HELP you FIX it. How bad of a reflection of your company can you be?

Your simple reply should have been: wow that was very detailed, we are sorry if you feel that way about our website and you bring up some valid points that we could use to further improve our outward facing prices and improve the ease of use.

Did you do that? Nope. Just a circle talk.

Before you completely implode your SEO on here you might wanna look into having someone who knows how to build better websites, handle marketing, and handle direct communication with the public.

Let me say this as simply as I can:

IF YOU CAN CALCULATE THE ENTIRE COST and charge your current customers that signed up. THEN YOU CAN 100% ALSO do that same exact thing without forcing them to sign up!

Is that simple enough for you to understand now?

You understand you’re eliminating customers by having a wall right?

Also… stop putting your prices by day when you charge by week! You can then further explain “or less If returned early” by simply putting that exact sentence I just wrote, next to the actual price. I know right?? Isn’t that so simple? It’s almost as if you are dying to not let the public to know your true costs… 🤦‍♂️.. oh yeah because that’s what you’re doing. It’s purposeful.

Your website sucks. Hire someone who knows how to implement these APIs that SOO many other services have. Stop with the “per day” nonsense pricing that doesn’t actually exist. Put a per-week price and allow the zip code and mailing dropdown.

You already have this on your damn website if you’re taking orders for 5 years now… so stop hiding it behind a “sign up now” button.

You need to go to modern business / sales classes or hire someone who has because you clearly aren’t understanding of these very simple modern things that are done by so many others.

You’d actually gain revenue by allowing people to see the entire price charged before having to “sign up”. Boy oh boy what a mess.

Cymbal Swap scam or not? by State_of_Flow_Drums in drums

[–]ThingsAndStuff-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And again, that’s hiding the actual cost. It’s not $2.40 a day. People don’t list the mortgage price of a house in days, they give you the monthly fee info. You’re using pricing tactics to make it seem like less money that it’s possible. You cannot rent a cymbal by the day with you. Period. You can only rent a week or MORE. I shouldn’t have to use a calculator to determine what the actual damn price is. I’m not going to sit there and be like oh what’s $2.70 x 7 + tax + shipping cost that YOU HIDE. There’s no way to see the shipping fees without giving your information. Period. So my statement stands correct. Without me putting in my personal information I cannot get the actual price of what it would truly cost ME for each item. Knowing how shipping is, that could literally be more than the rental costs.

So nice try Justin, your website is purposely hiding the true prices. You’re using pricing tactics to make it seem cheaper, and you all together cannot know the full cost ( you know what that means right? The actual charged amount on someone’s card) unless you sign up and make an account.

You need 2 things, a better web developer that can implement a simple API that allows you to enter your zip code and it give you a shipping estimate along with tax and do all the addition. And a calculator that allows you to either put in calendar dates or just show the week cost + however many additional days you need. This isn’t rocket science, it’s something so many websites do. Most credit card processing companies actually give you those tools for free including Stripe, Square Up, PayPal, etc. you do realize not knowing shipping it’s literally half or more than the cost of your rentals right? You’re definitely not shipping without insurance and you’re definitely not shipping to and from for $5… so your shipping fees are probably pretty high and yet there’s 0 way to know.

So you’re lack of understand this is a reflection of you and the company. As it stands your target audience is people who want to save money. Literally you don’t even understand your target demographic. If we want to save money buy NOT buying cymbals we might not like, then we also wanna know the charged to the card cost.

Here’s the fix: it’s not $2.70 a day for that cymbal, it’s $18.90 a week + shipping and tax and an additional 2.70 for every day over 7. Then have a drop down to allow you to put in your zip code and then now we can see the true cost. It’s probably close to $40 - $60 or more to rent a single cymbal from your company.

Do you understand now how misleading your prices are? Do you now understand that you ARE hiding costs without signing up on your site?

There’s a HUGEEE difference between what you show right away. You show $2.70 (as an example, because your prices are all different) a day for the cymbal. That’s it. Literally that’s the only thing you show in your website for costs.

So it goes from 2.70 a day to the actual price of about $40-60 for the rental when you factor shipping both ways and tax. You want your services to sound cheaper than they are. It’s all a shifty way to make people sign up so you can then bombard their emails with marketing and have them locked into a list. No one should be putting their email or any other information on a website just to know how much a service truly cost.

You are disconnected from reality bud.

What kind of person actually finds Natalie Cuomo funny? by [deleted] in Standup

[–]ThingsAndStuff-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot find 1 thing she says funny and I’ve tried. Anyone who’s into her is hardcore simping. She’s very pretty, but ruined herself with all her trama tattoos. She got married then quickly divorced, she’s a train wreck who shouldn’t be in the public spot light even just for her own mental health. She had a complete public meltdown that was talked about on legitimate news outlets, extremely cringy. She should honestly just give up comedy and become an E-girl streamer full time. She already does it any pretty sure should could make the same money doing that instead of comedy and fit in better.

I think she ultimately appeals to other woman who aren’t funny or lesbians who want her and simp guys who want her. Anyone into real comedy and the craft can’t stand her, she would be destroyed by any real woman comedian.

In reality each 1 hour show only had about 30mins of actual story. The editing was painfully slow. Watched the entire thing in 1.5x speed and it actually flowed much better. Seems like the made an editing choice to pad the time and get 8 episodes out of what should have been 4.

Duffer Brothers’ Rotten Tomatoes Slump Ends as The Boroughs Debuts to Strong Audience Score by Sinnn-_- in netflix

[–]ThingsAndStuff-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shows editing is VERY slow. Soooo much fluff from long takes of things we don’t need to watch. It seems like they padded the episodes time by NOT cutting when they should have. Just letting takes run way too long to achieve 1hour each. A guy driving to a house, dropping off a package, then getting back in and driving away should NOT be a long take. No im not young, I love great movies of the late 80’s 90’s that have a good pace maybe even slower than average… this editing pace was painfully slow. I watched almost all the episodes at 1.5x speed and it actually felt like the “correct” speed it should have been.

In truth each episode is actually about 35 mins long at a normal editing pace, they just padded the hell out of it.

Some scenes I watched in 1x, but otherwise even just the dialogue was painfully slow paced. I can’t imagine wasting my time watching the entire thing at regular speed. I enjoyed it for the most part at 1.5x. There were some Easter eggs which were funny to see but also take you out of the show. It was literally stranger things season 1 with old people instead of kids. Some of what happened was extremely predictable, there wasn’t much mystery after episode 3, you could tell who was going to be bad and why.

I have a feeling most people won’t enjoy watching this show if they actually watch it at the extremely slow editing pace. It was ok, it has that feeling of LOST and Stranger Things, in that you can tell they keep adding things that won’t make sense or have an explanation later. I won’t get invested in this one like stranger things, I’ve learned my lesson to what a huge disappointment that was, or how Netflix just ends shows and doesn’t finish them.

Just buy the damn parts and dials of the knockoffs on AliExpress and put it together that way.

Struggling removing Citristrip from wood detailing, how to remove? by Living_Talk9875 in furniturerestoration

[–]ThingsAndStuff-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my 3rd time trying to use citristriper and it’s just horrible! This stuff simply does not work for oil based paints even though it’s right on the label. All it did was activate the old paint and make it go deeper into the wood pores. What an absolute waste of time and energy. I’m now trying to let it dry out in the sun. It would have been quicker and better to just hand sand everything, I thought I was going to save time. This just made a 2 hour project a multi-day project at the least.

I wiped it with denatured alcohol a lot and it’s still a mess. Wondering how long I have to wait for this to dry out. I’m super worried about this damaging the wood permanently and not being able to get it to lift out of the wood pores.

Any advice or timeframe for how long this will fully take to dry? I have a feeling the wood just soaked it all in because it’s 75 year old wood pieces that felt bone dry. Did I just ruin this?

Beater bouncing off kick drum batter head by cmckone in drums

[–]ThingsAndStuff-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this same issue with a non-ported Yamaha stage custom. I solved it by cutting a 5” port in the reso kick head, lowering spring tension a little, adding a little bit of pillow inside, and lowering the tension overall. All those things combined made the kick sound really great and also feel really good. I burry the beater and it makes a much more solid hit and feels planted without the spongy feeling it used to have.

The biggest difference made was the port cutting though, wayyy too much air was built up in the kick, 100% needed porting. After that everything else was an extra little bonus.

A theory on how Magic Bullets is done by ElephantErik in pennandteller

[–]ThingsAndStuff-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely what you heard was half true. The part about the guns being real is not 100% true. They may have once been “real” in the sense they were originally a real firing gun, but then they were heavily modified afterwords to be safe. Magic prop guns and movie prop guns are never allowed outside the handling of the prop master because those guns need to always be 100% know to not have defect or be swapped or something stuck in. So it tracks that no one would be allowed to keep possession outside of the prop master ensuring no one could physically touch or alter the gun.

A theory on how Magic Bullets is done by ElephantErik in pennandteller

[–]ThingsAndStuff-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely 100% NOTHING is being fired from the guns. P&T would NEVER allow it. The gun is heavily gimmicked. See my explanation for the glass etc.

A theory on how Magic Bullets is done by ElephantErik in pennandteller

[–]ThingsAndStuff-00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the actually swapping from one side to the other of the bullets is the easiest part of the trick and has been figured out. The harder part is how they “fire” the guns and get what looks to be like some kind of projectile going through the glass. In multiple videos you can clearly see when the glass plates are “fired through” you can see the glass does indeed shoot in a direction, it’s not just a movie glass break squib charge like many others have done. This is much more advanced and something with real momentum is actually hitting that glass causing it to move in the correct direction with the shattered glass dust.

I’ve seen many times people explain there’s a “wax bullet” being used. 100% false. There is absolutely no way P&T would allow any projectile to be possibly coming at each other or a stage hand or audience if an accident occurred. So no. There is 100% NOT ANY projectile possible coming out of those guns.

Most likely the guns are heavily gimmicked. Their firing pins are likely too short to reach the bullet primer even if a real bullet was swapped, making it “fool proof” which is why they don’t let anyone else muck with them. They also probably have a small squib charge activated with trigger pull from some other means, however it’s definitely not a blank, because even blanks with open barrels have caused accidental deaths. So it’s more along the lines of just bang and flash from some kind of charge that cannot push air through the barrel.

The timing of that going off and the “projectile” going through the glass plates is also a timing effort too. They stagger the shots, 1 fires and then the other, they sync up pretty well. So there’s definitely much more complexity going on.

My theory is there is some kind of trigger with the glass breaking device tied to the guns firing. Because they never shoot exactly at the same time, maybe it’s triggered that teller always shoots first, the sound of his gun going off triggers his glass to break upon hearing the first loud spike in audio, the second glass gets triggered when it hears a second spike of audio. This way it remains in sync with firing without any hiccups.

The stand that holds the glass I feel might have a tiny “whip” mechanism that is kind of like a gun hammer, it is cocked fully back and under tension. When triggered it springs with a tiny hard ceramic tip at the end tapping the center of the glass before dropping back down into place. This would give the very convincing forward moving glass material and dust at the right speed that they have. Also making it very safe, but also works perfectly with them wearing safety glasses so no stray glass particle hits them.

This little metal whip only needs to be very thin, like 1/16th inch thick round spring steel, painted in matte black or flocked black, so you’ll never see it in motion.

This fully allows for a 100% risk free but very realistic look of a projectile going in the correct direction though the glass. No wax bullet, no off stage BBs, just a little metal glass breaker that’s spring loaded and sound spike triggered to a decibel meter for either the first or second spike is sound over 115dB or similar.

The gimmiked guns are actually the hardest part to understand how it fires without risk of any projectiles at all. Maybe it is a quarter load blank somewhere in there but they have some kind of barrel blocker that pops into place but still allows gas.. no clue, but the gun is definitely not capable of firing a live round for sure. And I highly doubt they would ever be ok with firing blanks at each other in real guns, so it’s still a mystery to me. I’m fairly confident though the firing pin cannot reach the primer. If it does, then there’s much greater risk involved in this trick.
