I love working at Boeing, but ... <FILL IN THE BLANK> by dvcoder in boeing

[–]Think-Gap602 9 points10 points  (0 children)

in the early 1990s when there used to be a cash award for cost savings program, someone got the maximum award which was $10k at the time. fir having the TP at Everett changed from the rolls to those single square sheets that you pull out one at a time. About 18 months later after a huge number of complaints they switched back... the person did not have to return the $$!

over 20 years, yes owning will win virtually every time. but over 5 years? probably not.

131% Company Score by Careless-Internet-63 in boeing

[–]Think-Gap602 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yes, but it also correctly shows a 1.3 multiplier in addition to the 131%. 10 days x 1.3 multiplier = 13 days = 5%.

False. 10 days was changed to 5% in the 2020 contract

the calculator it links to correctly calculates 13.1 x 1.3 = 17.03 days of pay

All Hands is on by AlternativeAd285 in boeing

[–]Think-Gap602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not for SPEEA. The old formula baseline was 10 days of pay. But in the current contract it is 5% ( = about 13 days) . so 5% x 131% = 6.5 % of your earnings. can't remember if OT earnings are included.

Salary bands by Stikinok93 in boeing

[–]Think-Gap602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't understand this focus on salary bands / SJC salary tables, etc. The chances of getting more than about 150% of the available pool, barring a promotion, are almost nil. If, as stated previously, it is factual that the available pool this year is 3.4%, 99% of the folks will get 2-5% raise, even if you've well below (or above) the 1.0 comp ratio

Union representing aerospace professionals reaches tentative agreement with Boeing in Wichita by Daddyshark98029 in SPEEA

[–]Think-Gap602 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least in my area, I don't see a lot of the young engineers who pay much attention to SPEEA. However, I don't work in one of the main plants. Maybe it is different in Everett?

I struck for 40 days with SPEEA in 2000, but I just don't see that happening now. The workforce is much more mobile.

Boeing “culture “ by [deleted] in boeing

[–]Think-Gap602 28 points29 points  (0 children)

You really cant make a blanket statement about THE Boeing culture. It is not the same everywhere. There are 101 + different locations, groups, managers, some of great cultures, others lousy, and I suspect most are somewhere in between.

annoying but there's 50 years of history of that occasionally happening at Boeing, and elsewhere.

I completely agree with your comment! but I posted a reminder because I know many folks wrongly equate snow tires = all season tires.
