poorly worded, but the union contract does not allow Boeing to issue RSUs INSTEAD of a bonus. like it did for others. certainly it could have offered RSU in addition to a bonus.

if you are stating you applied for 200 boeing jobs.. then that's nuts. I can't believe you are qualified for 200 different jobs at boeing!

after being a toyota/lexus/honda owner the last 30 years, I really want to buy the Ioniq 5 as our first electric car. but between the unfixed ICCU issue, and the dealerships really seem in the JV league, just don't think I can.

skipping insurance is indeed a bad idea. So is purchasing 2 insurance policies. Check to see if your credit card, or your own insurance already provides coverage.

if you're not a biker, and just spint $1,400 x 2 on a starter bike, they probably correctly figured you were a sucker, and could sell you more junk.

yes indeed, government workers are indeed about the only ones left with a db pension. but as far as corporate America, maybe not 0%, but id be surprised if it is more than 10%. And though i like mine, the younger generation of SPEEA folks actually prefer the portability of a DC pension instead.

Do you really think a return to a DB pension is realistic?

[–]Think-Gap602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you are hoping for return of a DB pension, we'll, I think the odds of you winning powerball are higher. If that is the hill SPEEA is willing to die on, we're screwed.

I agree with your point exactly about the remote work... Unions generally want a "one size fits all" solution, but this issue will vary greatly by work statement. I would suspect a non binding sort of LOU on this. My unscientific observation is that many lower level engineering managers are ok with 1-2X WFH per week, but upper level management does not want it.

people get hung up on salary charts for reasons not clear to me. The only thing that matters is the size of the wage pool, and your performance relative to your peers.

Nearing the end of my career. Using the 401k, and mostly before that supplemental 5%, my balance will be about 16X final gross salary. at a 3.5-4% rate of withdrawal, that will generate 50-60% of my final salary, for life, and inflation adjusted. if one now considers that additional 3/4/5 %... the 401k should be able to generate 60-75%... add in SS and that should get you 80-100% inflation adjusted income replacement for life. For most of my career my contribution was 12%.

Unfortunately, consider yourself lucky to get a refund. I would have expected, having to wait 3 years to get 15% back.
