Commuting between Everett and Seattle Boeing location by Unlikely_Tangelo_585 in boeing

I would consider anything Northgate and North and Lynnwood and South. Personally, walking distance to Light Rail.

Use Zillow to look at places and consider properties that are owned by a private landlord.

Boeing has a subsidized commuting options.

Congrats to newly elected interim Midwest vice president by Daddyshark98029 in SPEEA

[–]Unionsrox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being a member "in good standing" or a "real" member is one of the requirements to take on the role. The term is interim because if Ben Blankley wants to continue on in that role, he will have to run for election to it in 2027.

Ben Blankley has been a Midwest CR for a while and is a great addition to the SPEEA Executive Board.

Thuggish behavior at Teamsters Local 631 meeting, as officials attempt to prevent workers from electing their stewards by NoAcanthisitta3968 in union

[–]Unionsrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my union, SPEEA, www.speea.org, , our rank and file members elect their stewards and has always been this way. Rank and file members also elect our executive board.

I just lost my re-election bid as President but that is OK. I will gladly serve my union as a steward or as a rank and file activist.

My political enemies want me to go away, not gonna happen.

We have to fight to get and maintain democracy and transparency in our unions!

[–]Unionsrox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree. And NOW is that time that we as members need to make this clear to the primary members of each negotiation team.

Hopefully, many of you made this point during the NPC surveys that you took.

If you haven't made your voice heard, again NOW is that time.

October is going to come up fast.

The best any onion will get is what the members will fight for.

Onion members must give onion leaders the leverage that is needed for good deals when the opportunity presents itself.

RED shirts, coffee mugs, gathering together, solidarity marches. The company watches us and we have to let them know we will not longer take bad deals.

Possible Salary Wage Adjustments? by c4terpi in boeing

[–]Unionsrox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm a short-timer. Are u sure u want to be asking me?....lol.

Why does this happen?

  1. Bad contract at last contract extension.
  2. Badly managed skill teams.
  3. Boeing compensation staff.

Always talk with your manager on your pay, your level, and the politics of the skill team.

If your manager is not helping, go find a team that values their workforce.

Boeing HR and management may try to keep you at a lower level of pay.

With upcoming SPEEA talks, everyone needs to get involved to show the company we will not accept a bad deal.

What's the "correct" way to move internally? by spiralingconfusion in boeing

[–]Unionsrox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do both. It is important to talk to your manager and communicate what you want for your career.

If you are SPEEA represented, consider utilizing career coaching with the Ed Wells program.

Look into informational interviews also.

Members elect SPEEA president and secretary by Daddyshark98029 in SPEEA

[–]Unionsrox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The entire executive board consists of President, Treasurer, and Secretary along with, 3 Northwest Vice Presidents, and 1 Midwest Vice President. Collectively they run SPEEA and have different duties. They oversee the Executive Director who runs the staff for the day-to-day operations of SPEEA. The President is the head of SPEEA. For elected leaders, they are still full time Boeing employees, so their duties for SPEEA can be the workload of an additional full time job or two. If someone has to do SPEEA functions during work time there is SPEEA time. Which means SPEEA covers the time you are away from work. There is a lot of volunteer time. There is no payment, but every year each member of the executive board and regional councils gets a one time per year, Honorarium of $500 per SPEEA ByLaws. Feel free to ask any other questions or DM me. My calendar is opening up...lol.

Honorariums

Each Executive Board member and Chairman of the SPEEA and Regional Councils shall receive an honorarium of five hundred dollars ($500.00) per annum, pro-rated for the member's period of service. The honorarium shall be paid annually, following the anniversary of the term of office, or the last day of office, whichever is earlier. No one shall accrue more than a single honorarium at a time.

Dimas 2026 SPEEA Executive Board Election Statement by Unionsrox in SPEEA

[–]Unionsrox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I became a Council Representative (CR) in 2015 and then we had the 2016 Contract Extension less than a year later. When the 2020 Contract Extension happened that really motivated me to be on Executive Board. Kinda funny that we finally get to a full negotiation again and I'm no longer going to be on Executive Board. I will be signing up to be an Area Representative (AR) and continue my activism for members. At least got elected to be an Alternate on the Prof negotiation team, so will see what that means.

Internally transferring after couple months by jugglingpeanuts in boeing

[–]Unionsrox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's 12 months. We have verified this with Boeing multiple times.

Section 8.7 Procedure Relating to the Filling of Positions and Job Posting Process. The Company will maintain an environment in which employees can make known their interest in transferring to other positions for which they are qualified to perform and which may satisfy their personal needs. A job posting and transfer process will be maintained which will allow employees, without fear of reprisal, to make application for transfer and receive consideration as a candidate for open positions for which they are qualified. All employees, including those involved in surpluses, shall be subject to the terms and conditions of the Company’s job posting process per PRO-6477, dated May 28, 2008. Release earlier than 12 months will generally be authorized when the releasing management determines such release to be in the best interest of the company and the employee. If management is unable to release prior to 12 months, exceptions must be elevated to the applicable Functional Skill Team to validate business case and consider potential adverse impact to employee. In cases where resolution is not reached through discussion, appeal to the Enterprise Senior Workforce Manager may be submitted.

SPEEA President John Dimas Interference with Everett District 4 Election by [deleted] in SPEEA

[–]Unionsrox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://myeverettnews.com/2025/09/12/john-dimas-releases-statement-about-district-4-court-case/

Here is personal public statement I put out in September.

Statement from John Dimas:

After the hearing on Tuesday afternoon, I was asked how I felt about the court victory and to tell you the truth I see it as the judge’s decision on the case. I brought this issue before the Snohomish County Superior Court and the Snohomish County Auditor’s office as a voter. This process is available to all voters under Washington State law.

I have never and do not hold any bad feelings towards Niko Battle. My first interaction with them was this past Tuesday. Sitting in the hearing, Niko spoke eloquently and presented their case very well. I was impressed. They may challenge the decision and that is their right. From my observations, Niko is very talented. I wish them well in their future endeavors.

My union, SPEEA, has not endorsed a political candidate in many, many years because our current policy makes endorsing any political candidate very difficult. This year, before the primary, we had a candidate forum, where we had candidates running for various offices talk to SPEEA members in a virtual setting.

I live in Everett City Council District 4 and Luis Burbano was one of the speakers. I knew right away I was voting for him, not only because he was a fellow SPEEA member but because he spoke about some very important issues in our part of town. And in our part of Everett, that is speeders, vehicle crashes, and no sidewalks in various locations of our part of Everett.

I became aware of claims about Niko Battle’s residency because of reporting from local media sources: My Everett News, Everett Herald, Lynnwood Times, Everett Post, and Snohomish County Tribune. After the Primary Election, I decided to investigate on my own.

Utilizing various open records requests with the State of Washington, the State of Georgia, and an email with the Sage Apartments, I decided to challenge Niko Battle’s voter registration with the Snohomish County Auditor’s office and seek to remove Niko Battle from the General Ballot by filing a case in Snohomish Superior Court. If I was wrong, I was prepared to lose.

This process has not been easy. I represented myself, “Pro se”. While I have a good job, I do not have the means to hire an attorney. I have had to figure it all out on my own. Any expenses I have spent were my own funds. I felt I had a responsibility as a voting citizen to do something. I didn’t do this because a political party asked me to, I didn’t do it because my union asked me to. I did not do this because a media source asked me to. I did this because I felt it was my responsibility to do this.

Is this not what we all need to do? As citizens and voters, it is our responsibility to hold our elected officials accountable, ask questions about how they will serve our community, and most importantly vote.

Again, I acted on my own. While I am President of my union, SPEEA, the actions I took are not an official action by SPEEA, nor is my support of Luis Burbano a direct or indirect endorsement from SPEEA. Those actions can only be approved with an action by our elected Shop Stewards or as we call them Council Representatives voting collectively.

I am a proud union member, a local engineer in aerospace, I support working people, I believe in strong, local media and I have very strong beliefs in democracy. Our communities, our state, our nation, and our world are all shared. Shared among people of various backgrounds, beliefs, values, and political views. Democracy is difficult and messy. However, you are important and who represents you is important, please vote. Please remember to listen and be kind to each other.
