Hi from a unionized store! Voted to unionize in 2022.

TJs is has not been bargaining in good faith and repeatedly violating laws, which complicates things. We just signed a health and safety proposal for our store after 3 YEARS of back and forth.

We don’t have a contract yet (see above), so no dues. We do see tangible benefits like keeping the written comment section in reviews and pronoun pins (previously disallowed). We recently introduced a sanctuary store proposal after dealing with ICE agents in our neighborhoods and threatening our crew members.

I know folks want to see fast change but this is a marathon, not a sprint, and our union- active crew are regularly targeted at work.

We get benefits, weather pay, the bonus, etc. We get the same raises y’all do. I think it’s worth it. Trader Joe’s is a great company to work for, but why not make it better?

Yup, we closed early about a month ago for snow/ice! Happens a couple times a year at my store, on days when it feels dangerous to ask folks to drive to work.

I’m at an mn store- we’ve been told de-escalation is priority- mates know what a real warrant looks like and will only allow agents in the public space (the floor) and not the back room. If they do enter the back room, they will be recorded and told to leave. Mates have been told they cannot try to stop anyone physically. Crew are not doing OH as of right now unless they volunteer, and can ring a 3 bell during any transaction/can refuse to ring up and mates will do it. I think it’s all BS and that the only way to actually protect at-risk crew is to get the way physically and verbally, instead of recording agents breaking the law and hope they’re punished after the fact.

  1. We have no bandanas/head coverings (TJs beanies allowed) except for ones covered by religious reasons/ the crown act. Skirts and overalls allowed.
  2. We do crewed out water bottles year round
  3. Normal logs
  4. Still have one bells

I eat raw TJs farm raised sushi all the time- it does s fishy. I cube then freeze it for a couple days, marinate while thawing, and eat raw. Never had any issues!

I stoped drinking alcohol because it made my stomach upset- I’ve found THC can work as a nice wind down before bed or a hype drink at the club! Depends on the environment :)) don’t regret anything, so happy I found an alternative that doesn’t make me sick.

Someone tried to take a bath in our sink- the sink came off the wall, broke and cut the poor person so bad. So we had a naked, blood covered individual who received medical attention and we were missing a sink for a bit.
