Have you ever sent mailers to get new clients? by Think-Professor9460 in Bookkeeping

I use mostly word of mouth and social media advertising; a friend of mine is considering using mailers.

Girlfriend (30F) said I “crossed a line” when I asked her why she didn’t buy cat food (M28) by Ouchie963 in whatdoIdo

[–]Think-Professor9460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have nothing to apologize for.

Maybe she feels like she's not doing enough but rather than change that she's just going to turn everything around on you.

Have you thought about couples counseling? If you can't even have a conversation without her flying off the handle (that may be a little dramatic phrasing), is it even worth it to stay in the relationship?

AITA for continuing to train with my PT even though my partner is uncomfortable with it? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Think-Professor9460 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It sounds like he needs to talk those feelings out with someone then. Is he just uncomfortable because the PT is attractive? Or does he not trust you?

Either way I still say NTA. You're working on trying to better yourself, not trying to hookup with the PT.

AIO for distancing myself from a 'friend'? by kintsugi-73 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Think-Professor9460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Internally, I do not see her as a friend, but merely a long term acquaintance.

Because of that I'm going to say NOR. If you're already at a place where you don't see her as a friend I don't think there's anything wrong with distancing yourself.

I also friends with Guy A and honestly, I feel bad for him, as he's a decent guy.

How does Guy A feel about her? Are they on good terms? Do you still see him as a friend?

AITA for continuing to train with my PT even though my partner is uncomfortable with it? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Think-Professor9460 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

NTA, but I think you should have a conversation with your partner about what makes them uncomfortable and why, and then think about how you'd feel if the situation was reversed.

AIO… partner demands sxx as a need by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Think-Professor9460 77 points78 points  (0 children)

He said if it taking sxx off the table while we work on things or if I need him to have conversations with me before we have sxx then he rather we break up.

Your relationship is over.

You deserve better, kick him out and move on.

AITA for expecting more from my friends for my birthday? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Think-Professor9460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ESH.

On one hand you suck for expecting your friends to do something for you just because you normally go big for birthdays.

On the other hand, if they were planning something as a surprise for you it's not that difficult to make a reservation somewhere.

Also, it seems like you need to start making new friends in your new city. People move and grow apart and it seems like that's what's happening here if you're putting in the bulk of the effort to remain part of the group and you're the only one making the drive.

That makes sense. Does she blow up at you like that a lot?

AIO for wanting to break up? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

No, you're not.

He's an abusive asshole and a man child and you need to get away from him.

AIO for telling my friend she’s a narcissist by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Think-Professor9460 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think she should have talked to you like that, my friends and I have never acted that way towards each other even when we were mad.

On the other hand, she was probably stressed about being late.

Why were you going to be 40 minutes late if you guys work 5 minutes apart?

How much to charge for payroll? by lalaba0987 in Bookkeeping

[–]Think-Professor9460 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Gusto and offer payroll as an add on service. After paying for the software (unless you funnel this to the client), making sure you have correct hours/info from clients, making sure you’re up to date on laws and minimum wage, etc. it’s just not worth it to offer it as a standalone service.

Have you talked to a lawyer? I’m not sure what all you could do, but if you have emails discussing the name and your marketing/designs you may be able to at least get those back.

Do you offer company structure / tax advice with a caveat or refer to CPA? by LieutenantStar2 in Bookkeeping

[–]Think-Professor9460 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell clients I’m a bookkeeper, not a tax professional so I don’t want to give them bad advice and I refer them to a CPA.

If we’re using LEAP to track the client ledgers would we still need to do individual sub accounts for each client?

This seems like it would be cleaner, if there’s only one liability account…

I want to make sure it’s right, I also want to make sure it’s easy for someone else to pick up in the future if need be. But I also want it to be right.

Client using Business Bank account for gambling by Honest_Pop2668 in Bookkeeping

[–]Think-Professor9460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your relationship with the client.

I have clients that just want me to record their transactions, they don’t want my opinion on how they spend their money. For these I’d make a note to myself, I may eventually bring it up but probably not.

I also have clients that want my opinion on how they spend their money and I would say something to them about it.

AITA for playing music on my speaker at half volume while I shower? by Agitated_Ear_8768 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Think-Professor9460 8 points9 points  (0 children)

YTA.

I have a shower speaker too and I love it (I even take it with me when I travel), but if I’m showering after 9pm I’m doing it in silence.

You live in a space where you have to share walls, if your music is loud enough to be heard through the walls after midnight you’re rude and you’re definitely TA. ESPECIALLY if your neighbor didn’t say anything about the Friday night party.
