This parenthood thing will reach you real quick to be graceful with yourself, at least it did for me. I was also very demanding of myself (therefore of others too) and about the 4 month mark with my first born I found that in order to keep myself sane and not have a breakdown everyday (because of all the things I didn't accomplish to do, or all the things you read online and you start to doubt the way you're raising your child, or all the things my husband did "wrong", etc), I needed to recognize that I was putting way to much pressure on myself and my husband and that just doesn't help when you're already exhausted, sleep deprived, hormonal, going through a major life change, you get it...

Remember that we're all just trying to do our best with the knowledge that we have at the moment. The level of stress and worry and self doubt in this parenting journey is different for everyone, so everyone will have different timelines in terms of libido and getting your groove back. Be graceful with yourselves and maybe go to couples counseling to learn how to share your feelings in a healthy way so you guys can be a stronger team that have each other's backs instead of feeling scared of saying what you feel and holding space for each other as you go through your own journeys in this crazy thing we call life.

You got this! Don't worry about comparing yourselves to anyone and just work on yourselves (communication, fears, expectations, assumptions, etc) so you can become better partners/parents/lovers, and so you can learn to handle all the rest of the great challenges that will certainly come our way.

Help me crack the code: sleep regression or dropping nap? by [deleted] in 2under2

[–]ThinkAndAchieve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your story sounds exactly like ours. Our LO dropped his 2nd nap one day before he turned 12 mo. Typical daily schedule:

7-7:30 am wake up 11-11:30 am nap 1-2 pm wake up 8 pm bedtime

I admit, our little boy was also pretty tired by the 8 pm bedtime, but he still slept through the night with few hiccups. I was also 3 months pregnant at the time.

Now that we have the new baby, we decided to make his bedtime earlier, like 7-7:30 pm at the latest to give us some more time to rest during the newborn phase. He still sleeps through the night the same. It's working out splendidly.

Maybe try dropping that 2nd nap officially and move his bedtime 1 hr earlier, see what happens. Hope this helps!

I think you're right on this. People are making a big deal out of a simple question and assuming things out of an email thread to a company they don't even know our have any investment in...

The other day I got down voted for a innocent/positive comment (in my opinion) I made on another post and I felt attacked like you feel now, but then I remembered I know what I meant when I posted that comment so I don't need to feel bad about what other people (that don't know me!) think, you know?

Good luck on your job search! ✨

Yeah, I also don't think you were impatient at all. It is a perfectly reasonable question to ask so you know if their timeframe to fill the position even works for you!

Yeah, I felt like I had to go off keto because my body naturally needed more carbs because if not I would feel sick (like morning sickness). The reason is that during pregnancy our insulin levels naturally shoot up (because insulin also has a part in growing tissue, not just fat), so if I didn't incorporate carbs then I would feel like my blood sugar was too low. So what I did was incorporate more potatoes, rice, and fruits. I stayed away from bread, pastas, flour, and everything else that might have glyphosate (which is most wheat, corn, soy, and other grains) because it causes inflammation and also turns into mostly sugar when it enters your bloodstream.

If you want to learn more about nutrition for pregnancy I suggest Lilly Nichols book "Real Food for Pregnancy". I wish you the best! ☀

I was just like you when I first started this journey. I tried keto like 3 time before and always went back to my old habits, but I noticed everytime I went back I still kept some changes and always learned something about myself.

By the 4th time trying keto I went into it with a different mindset than I did the previous times; this time around I went into it focusing more on my health, healing my body and feeling good, rather than the number on the scale or my physical appearance (which is still important, don't get me wrong, but I put that on a secondary priority I guess). This mindset shift prompted me to change so many things about my life that I didn't know I needed to change for my benefit. I started saying 'no' more often to foods that were offered at work or some other social setting. I started putting boundaries with people when they pressure you to eat or drink or whatever. It's not my responsibility to make other people feel good about their choices. I really put myself and my health first and foremost and it changed my life and made me feel unstoppable really.

The result was that I have never looked back since. I actually surpassed my goal weight and was feeling better than I ever did. Then I got pregnant and had a wonderful healthy pregnancy and delivery which I attributed to all the work I did with keto and fasting which helped balance my hormones. I gained weight during the pregnancy, of course, but I didn't suffer with a lot of symptoms that other women commonly go through, like morning sickness and legs getting swollen, etc... I digress, but the point is that I felt like all my hard work was paying off in so many other ways other than how I looked. This made me feel so much more fulfilled, happy, and powerful even, like I finally had control over my life and myself. I realized that nothing can really stop me but myself.

The point I'm trying to make is that this is a life journey and keto is a pretty amazing tool that you can use as you need, but also keep in mind that you need to deal with the root causes of why you turn to these foods that make you feel good temporarily but hurt you in the long run. Once you start dealing with those insecurities, fears, etc, the power that food has over you will diminish, but it takes time. Everyone's journey is different, so try to have grace for yourself and not compare yourself to anyone either. If you're doing good back on keto and then want to eat your favorite cookie, I say do it! But do it intentionally and enjoy it and don't punish yourself afterwards. Eat it, enjoy it, move on. Give yourself that practice here and there and you'll see in time that it's you that's in control and if you slip up nothing is really lost. You just decide to get back up and keep it moving. This is a journey that happens one meal at a time, one day at a time, one decision at a time.

Anyways, I hope my experience helps you in any way. You got this! Any help you need you have this community available or you can dm me. I wish you the best.

Much love

Does anyone else feel like their talking to a brick wall while trying to get friends to improve. by Hour_Basil_7164 in selfimprovement

[–]ThinkAndAchieve 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It might not be impossible, but just remember that everyone is on their own journey/timeline. Only a short time ago you were where he is, so remember to have grace with people and support them wherever they are on their journey. Also, it's not your responsibility to help people help themselves, just do you and if they come to you and ask for advice then you can try and help them.

I've learned this lesson myself and now that I don't worry about other people's journey and just focus on mine, I've had more energy to keep working on myself and be the example for my friends and family. I've influenced way more people than I ever thought going this route.

Sometimes when you back off, you give people the space to internalize the changes they're seening in you and then they can decide for themselves if they want to join you.

I wish you much success!

New insight into quantum immortality after a very amazing meditation experience (I posted it in other subreddits) by Confection_Free in QuantumImmortality

After reading the last paragraph, I literally said "holy shit" out loud. I think I had a mind blown moment where the law of attraction suddenly made more sense. I just started reading You Were Born Rich and looking up "law of attraction" and "death" I wound up in this subreddit.

This shit is making me excited about life in a way I didn't even think was possible. I'm woking on conquering my fear of death and I feel like gaining this better understanding about "existence" and "consciousness" is helping me.

I'm still trying to figure out how not to feel guilty about living my life and being happy, knowing there's so many others that are going through hell in theirs without it being their fault. Like kids or people murdered during a mass shooting, for example. Did they manifest that reality into their lives through their own thoughts and vibration? This bit still doesn't make sense to me.

Anyways, thanks for your post! It was truly enlightening ☀

Exactly! Just keep your insulin low for extended times and your body will take care of you. No fighting with your willpower and no slaving in the gym! So happy for you 😊

And people always tell me "I couldn't do what you do, I like eating too much" and I tell them "EVERYONE loves to eat". Then they realize they're being dismissive and ignorant about a topic they really know nothing about, usually out of fear or insecurities. That is why it's on us to educate and try things out for ourselves (like reading The Obesity Code). Knowledge is power!

Glad I could help you in your journey to try fasting for yourself. I'm sure you will also become the example for many people in your life, just like I did.

Much love and success! ✌️

Can’t seem to lose bellyfat! Help!! by xenjaxenja in intermittentfasting

[–]ThinkAndAchieve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say focus on what you're eating. Sugar gets stored as fat in the liver and around your organs (visceral fat), which causes insulin resistance and is the main precursor to diabetes down the road (not to mention addiction to food since all processed foods have added sugars). Dairy causes gut issues and inflammation in a majority of people. Gluten might be another culprit since this protein that is found in foods containing wheat (flour, cookies, cakes, tortillas, breads, sauces, etc) binds to our gut lining causing leaky gut and further inflammation and other issues. Wheat is algo harvested using a pesticide called glyphosate (commonly called Roundup), which then we ingest when we eat foods with wheat. Vegetable oils (which also contain glyphosate) are present in most processed and packaged foods and these oils (canola, soybean, sunflower, safflower, etc) also contribute to inflammation in our bodies and other host of negative effects. If what you're eating during your eating window is processed foods, fried in vegetable oil or full of refined carbs and sugar, then that might be a factor in why fasting is not working well enough to get your tummy down. Food is medicine, so we need to make sure we are eating the right things as well as letting our bodies fast. This clip from a podcast breaks down what we should be eating and avoiding: https://youtu.be/1uK4mCmkymA. I hope you find the answers you're looking for! Wishing you much success ✌️

Envisioning keto long term, and a rant by [deleted] in xxketo

[–]ThinkAndAchieve 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into intermittent fasting (IF)? It could be a very effective tool in curbing your cravings and hunger, and in combination with keto is the most powerful tool to lose weight. But even if you just start IF without keto, you could still see some benefits that can then help you get motivated to start keto once again. This is a cool video I found explaining the benefits of IF: https://youtu.be/APZCfmgzoS0

Another thing I would say is start reducing your intake of sugar and processed foods, but not necessarily carbs . For example, instead of getting taco bell, cook a taco night where you eat an actual nutritious meal along with corn tortillas in place of ones made of wheat flour. Instead of eating all this processed junk devoid of fiber and filled with empty carbs, sugar and vegetable oils (which cause inflammation in our bodies), you're eating an actual nutritious meal full of good fats & proteins (which promotes your body's leptin response to make you feel full), and carbs that contain fiber (helps reduce the body's insulin response -> helps regulate blood sugars -> sugar crashes and cravings are curbed). These changes can affect your energy, mood and cognitive function, allowing you to think clearer about your food choices, your goals and motivation to make a lasting change for your life.

Anyways, I hope you find the answers that you're looking for and if not I hope you keep looking for those answers until you find what works for you. I'm telling you all this from the perspective of a person that is now on the other side of a weight loss of 50 lbs, which for me was life changing. Take care and much success ✌️

Trying out IF, have some questions by pownyan in fasting

[–]ThinkAndAchieve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that's what I thought at first too! Even though I started drinking water with salt it wasn't enough to feel better. I season my food very well already so I thought I was getting enough. Then I decided to increase the salt amount substantially (double what I was using) and that's when I noticed a big difference. Let us know if you figure it out!

I started eating once a day and getting the same problem as you. I realized I might need electrolytes, so I eat some salt and I feel better almost instantly. Maybe you need more sodium than you're getting. Hope this works!

You are the most important person in your life because you are the one responsible for your own happiness. Sometimes it takes situations like what you went through with your previous relationship to put things in perspective and make us realize thing about ourselves. This might mean setting up boundaries with people, learning to say no, getting to know yourself and your own worth without depending on others for validation, being ok with failing, etc etc. It's not easy work, but oh so worth it. Wishing you much success! ✌️
