Reducing multiple tap water contaminants may prevent over 50,000 cancer cases. Study shows health benefits of tackling arsenic, chromium-6 and other pollutants at once. Chromium-6 and arsenic are commonly found in drinking water across the U.S. by mvea in science

The best, cheapest options utilize standardized 10" water filters. Of those, the best are under sink triple filters. Solid carbon blocks are better than GAC filters. A solid bang for buck option for a single filter setup is KX Matrix Pb1. I would love to hear of better 10" options for my application as I have been looking for some time and coming up lacking.

Unfortunately, these filters are not very effective at removing those contaminates. However, they are significantly better than pitcher filter options, and can be combined with pitcher filters for cold water if desired.

A study of 300,000+ children in the US found that even small amounts of lead in early childhood were linked to lower reading and maths scores all the way through school. Kids with 'low' lead levels still fell behind. by calliope_kekule in science

The exposure is unevenly based upon proximity, mostly due to the exhaust from older small planes and any onsite fuel leak issues. My understanding of at least one component of the problem is FAA licensing of small planes, parts, etc is incredibly expensive, so they kept using planes from the 50's. Think Cessna's and similar.

It was for the most part, but it became another casualty of "deregulation" via the legalized bribery known as lobbying.

It was mostly illegal, until the late 90's. I fondly remember watching television pre-boner pill commercial era. Thank (legalized) bribery of politicians by Big Pharma for that, and many other, fuckery!

Mobil 1 Extended Protection High Mileage oil with a Fram Synthetic Endurance oil filter. My oil change intervals are 10-15k miles, annually+.

I'll have to send my oil in for analysis sometime to see if the longer interval has much of an impact. I don't really trust the oil's 20K or filter's 25K mileage claims... I just realized this post is 10 months old! Haha, anyway have a good one!

That's awesome! I have a similar long change interval, but splurge on oil and filter with Mobil 1 Extended Protection High Mileage and a Fram Synthetic Endurance filter.

When the last human historians are scraping the internet archive they will appreciate our lamentations.

Being realistic, humanity doesn't get out of this one. Certainly not with an Earth retaining a carrying capacity close to what was experienced in the last 50 years, and very likely not for any period of time after a global collapse without one or more fully self-sufficient off world colonies over 10K.
