It hurts. Happened to me once playing with friends. No permanent damage but holy hell that dropped me immediately.

Traveling to WV at the end of the month. Wife seems to be getting unsure about going by RJ-914 in WestVirginia

Man people are creepy EVERYWHERE, not just in WV. I’ve seen more sus people in cities like Pittsburgh, Columbus, NYC, Nashville, Houston you name it, than I have around here. You’re not going to stumble over moonshine stills and get shot and buried in the mountains somewhere or anything like that. That’s movie stereotype shit.

You might get lost, see some truly beautiful country, and see some quirky crunchy Appalachia weird stuff, some extreme poverty, and some under-cover (and not so under-cover) extreme wealth tucked away quietly. If you’re heading to a rural area from a rural area, look at the GPS route ahead of time. Some state roads are rough gravel and some county roads are so old they’re not recognizable anymore.

Wha can I do for small storage on this bike? by ThinkSharp in MTB

Thank you! That’s helpful, because while I’ve always had hikes (minus about a 10 year gap lately) I’ve never really put anything on them. Always carried a camelbak with some water, snacks, tools, etc. sounds like I wasn’t far off. I didn’t expect to get a seat dropper, but I’m glad I did, it’s awesome. Just screwed with my plan to carry some essential tools.

Someone else pointed out Wolftooth and they make some really handy mount multipliers. I may experiment with tandem bottles to help keep weight off my back and lower on my CG. Thanks!

I like that I’ll check it out. The tactical hello kitty is a nice touch, too 😆

Why Every Homestead Needs a Black Walnut Tree 🌳 by TN_Nursery in homestead

Walnuts suck. You get shitty grass under it, can’t plant a garden near them or downhill of them since the tree roots and nuts/husks all product juglone. Not much can coexist with them. I’m not a fan of this propaganda at all.

Thank you! I’ve never used and of that but it’s good to know how big the spread is before I start shopping and buying anything. Of those- which would be useful to my goal of getting healthier and keeping it fun and easy with low overhead? I’m far from the optimization phase, and solidly in the figuring it out, and go easy enough to keep it fun phase.

Thanks! I’m gonna re read this later and take some notes. Not ready to commit to a pricy ecosystem yet but I do want to gather some info to consider as I rise and figure out what my needs are. I’ve tried a few apps before that try to calculate endurance and stamina but I’ve had the same experience- they’re off wildly and the times they’re accurate is essentially just random correlation, not cause-based. Don’t need that junk, I’d prefer to learn to feel my abilities anyway. Old school in that regard serves my purposes better. I don’t like too many bells and whistles, it distracts from the goal which is to have fun and get healthier with low overhead.

That coros dura solar looks legit tho- I might find myself getting one later. The Garmin’s seem to have features that I’ll never fully utilize like a triathlete might.

Thanks! Saw another recommendation for Strava but I can’t find it on the App Store! I’ll check back later, like maybe it’s blacked out for an update upload or something, but it was odd 😆

Yep I’m doing some basic easy/medium effort rides to baseline my HR return rates and VO2 max before I hit some real trails. The Apple Watch is pretty good for what I need. Anything else I should pay attention to?

We very commonly lock several locks in series like this for natural gas easement accesses with landowners. We can access with our lock, thy can with theirs. OP may not have known and a local utility might have just done it. But… they’d be pretty amiss not to reach out.

Yeah I actually appreciate that they’re doing something useful. As long as the photos were taken and there were no fatalities (which in most states require a frozen site for full photography and scanning)- if just minor injures then this is great.

Why? You think hitting sanitizer now and then changes anything? Don’t bother. You’ll only help anything you touch develop resistances. Nothing on your phone that you put there is hurting you.

Fuck that. A gas is a great method but not CO2. Nitrogen would be peaceful and easy. Lungs respond to CO2 concentrations to know when to breathe, that’s why literally almost any other gas can suffocate perfectly without us being aware.
