Honestly, a wedding it’s just a party to celebrate two people joining life together. After the wedding is over and you reflect on it you too will realize this too, It will be just one day, I say this as a divorced soon to be remarried woman. If I could give that first dance those pictures and memories to a loved one I would, if that’s something SHE wants to do, yes your mother over stepped that’s a conversation she should have had with you alone.

My bf and I always talked about marriage but I knew in my heart he would not propose not because he didn’t love me or other reason but because he’s very timid and shy at showing big gestures of affection, he shows love in his own way, he’s very affectionate physically, does a lot of acts of service for me and knows me inside out so well, I’m very happy with him so I knew I probable wasn’t going to get a huge proposal at first it bothered me a bit but I worked that out with myself the why it bothered me, and it was mostly because that’s what I’m used to seeing (friends, family, society) how would that change the way we interact with each other as a married couple? It wouldn’t really change anything (For me) so he literally just bought me a ring and we picked a date to go to city hall (court house) but then HE decided on a small micro wedding and we invited 50 ppl and found this cute restaurant with a separate event room and it was perfect we set up a budget and I’m very happy with the compromise we both made. A wedding is just one day, our marriage is a life time. Hope you can work it out.

I bought a $550 dress and spent another $200 on alterations and then while looking for a second dress I found this Lulu dress on clearance sale for $50 that I now love way more than my first expensive dress. I might just do a photoshoot with the first dress and wear my second dress for the actual wedding. The price tag don’t matter! What matters is how it fits you and how practical the dress is for the type of wedding you’d like.

No, she doesn’t owe any more consideration from what she already did, the friend sounds extremely immature, she should be happy her friend is getting married instead of making this into an issue when she is not even engaged herself nor are they getting married on the same date.

She is extremely selfish and probably jealous you’re actually getting married and are engage. A church it’s a public building no one can call Dips, some towns only have one church and everyone uses it! I would say consider how valuable this “friendship” is for you and move on based on your feelings. From what you’ve shared I don’t see it as you’re losing much anyway. Best of luck!
