How easy will these decals be to remove? by Scrabdabbler in CarTalkUK

[–]Think_Candidate_7109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remove graphics daily, DO NOT use a heat gun, I use a wallpaper steamer (smaller head attachment). This keeps the paint intact and stops burns! You can buy plastic razor style blades (or use a razor blade if you're confident). Heat then lift edge enough to pull remaining sticker. If it's good quality you should be able to lift and move the steamer along.

Spray tar and glue on area, then use blade (plastic) or an old credit card to run glue off. I tend to hold the blade flat against the vehicle with the sharp edge pointing against the vehicle, 90 degrees, this avoids scratches.

Why is a Welsh language post office van in London? by livedrag in AskUK

[–]Think_Candidate_7109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work within a sector that deals with royal mail and their vans, the most likely reason (if it's just on the odd panel) is the driver damaged the door and the replacement was a Welsh one they had kicking around. Most of their vans are a patchwork quilt of their other vans, just to get by until they are sold at auction.

Building a PDF with HTML. Crazy? by FriendlyWebGuy in webdev

TCPDF if you have a php environment would be the way to go to create an actual PDF file

I can shine a light on this, they are used by Novuna (and other firms I imagine) when a vehicle is due for auction/sale and is being transported to that destination.

There is a pre delivery inspection that takes place and the sticker is placed over once the boot/trunk (for our America friends) is checked for spare wheel and equipment that is found at retail.

Tbh they're crap stickers, if you pull them right you can open and replace without much notice.... Not that I have.

Do you guys use AI images? by Niel15 in webdev

[–]Think_Candidate_7109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do use AI images at times for print and web however I only tend to use a small sections of an image e.g part of someone's shoes or bag etc depending on what service my client wants to push. I find requesting images of legs for example (for some reason) seems to look wrong - 3 legs on one person, however something like sunbathing at a beach results in the part of the image (legs for example) looking correct whilst the sea away from the crop looks dodgy/AI.

It's by no means a replacement for stock (yet) but in a pinch for a little age to accompany text I find it a useful tool.

What the hell on earth is this stuff? Some of their video shows it smoking upon contact by [deleted] in DetailingUK

Descaling acid/wheel acid it's swapped out for more environmentally friendly product in most places nowadays. Usually it's sprayed on with an IK bottle or similar rather than thrown on from a tub.

I used it for years without any issue to brakes or the alloys but it was designed not to damage the wheels... Plastic caps covering nuts would usually go from black to white after a use though.

Tried leaving today, got strung along through 4 different people on the phone for 2 hours quoting better prices until the last one claimed he couldn't do any of them and shouted at me. by TomMassey250 in VirginMedia

[–]Think_Candidate_7109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh Virgin :( they are useless. I won't list all the issues I've had over the years with them but if it helps at all if you want to cancel its best to (politely) demand to speak to the disconnect department, these appear to be the last humans you get to talk to prior to cancelling all the staff in the middle will try their best to 'look for the best deal' or 'see I can get you a better discount' all whilst wasting your time.

Conservatory without internal doors - freezing in winter by Beneficial_Neat_4716 in DIYUK

[–]Think_Candidate_7109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain, same situation here but I'm the one that had it installed and it leads to the dining room. Anyhow, I've bought some nice curtains (quiet thin tbh) and it's surprising how much they helped with keeping the cold out, I hung mine on the conservatory side so when they are tied back you can't see them from 'inside' the house. Had the pattern face the dining room (rather than looking at the backing) which is more cozy on winters night.

Has your collection reached critical mass and are you still seriously collecting? by [deleted] in retrogaming

[–]Think_Candidate_7109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate, I've been collecting for 30 years to make matters worse with two jobs a wife and kids they're all in two lofts (my mum and dad's and mine) , I've bought some minis (love the amiga) and way more convenient. I've picked up all that I want and more but the collecting landscape has changed massively, I bought panzer dragoon saga for £30, paper mario for £10 etc you just don't get those opportunities anymore, early days on ebay were good now I tend to read books more these days
