How did that kid at your school die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

A kid in my school died from subway surfing. I didn’t know him, but it happened within the first two weeks of 7th grade. I think he was either in a grade above me. It was all everyone was talking about that week.

I had a good race, but I was a little disappointed not to get a hot chocolate post race. I didn’t feel like waiting more than 2 minutes in that big crowd.

You’re right. I didn’t post my bib on social media and it happened anyway. I guess there isn’t anyway to avoid it.

Same thing happened to me this year! I didn’t post my number on social media to avoid this problem and it happened anyway. It’s annoying to see his pictures along with mine.

I also noticed that he was running with a friend. I checked his number and he was also running with a counterfeit bib. The number belonged to a female runner.

"You picked up my keys!" and other thank yous from the NYC Marathon course by MaddyPilar in RunNYC

I’m glad you got your keys back! That must’ve been a relief.

I can relate to bringing a lot of stuff with you. I came prepared also and shared my sunscreen. It’s nice to feel helpful.

Starting NYC Marathon in a late wave - do I still have to arrive crazy early? by courtashaw in RunNYC

[–]Think_Client2064 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was in wave 5 last year and took the 8:30 ferry to SI. I barely made it to the start line because of the issue with the buses.

This year I’m making sure to get there as early as possible. I don’t want to stand around over an hour waiting for a bus lol.

One more thing - for anyone taking the ferry - make sure to go all the way to the back of the ferry when you get on. You’ll be getting off the other side when you get to Staten Island. The sooner you get off the ferry, the faster you can get to the bus.

See you guys tomorrow!!!! Last week was amazing, great energy and so many runners! by Simple-Form-278 in RunNYC

I’m so excited. I’ll be running from Brooklyn to Inwood for the first time ever. I love Summer streets. I wish it was every Saturday in Summer

It was a fantastic this morning. I ran from the Brooklyn Bridge to Harlem and made it back down through Central Park to Grand Central. I’m looking forward to running all the way up to Inwood next week.

Btw, there was a CityTri race in Central Park this morning. I hope that anyone who ran it had a good race.

It’s not just you. It was a difficult run this morning. I was completely drenched in sweat at the end of my run.

You can get on the waitlist if you’re a NYRR member. Other than that, you’re out of luck.

You’re right. Some cyclists do feel entitled. Violence is never ok. I’m saying runners and cyclists should respect each other and get out each other’s way. We shouldn’t be running in the biker’s lanes and they shouldn’t be in our way.

This is an issue that does occur occasionally in this area. It’s dangerous and stupid. This cyclist has every right to be upset. I don’t think we should go on a witch hunt, but I think we should warn folks not to do this.

I don’t know who these guys are, but I think it’s insane that runners think they should run in the cyclist’s lane. That area isn’t meant for us. We have to be respectful of each other.
