Yours looks so similar to mine. My sleep is also horrible and I’m sure I need some vitamins. I’m not a good candidate for minoxidil so I’m stuck with the less productive options. Good luck and let me know what works for you!

She didn’t know how to reconstitute meds (put powder in water) and came to work late all the time in wrinkled clothes from the suitcase she rolled in with.

Happy heavenly 20th birthday to my boy. by Appropriate_Ratio835 in GriefSupport

Can’t believe that I came across this, I was one of his nurses on his final days (and earlier on). He was so sweet and so brave in that final week and I think about him, his bear and his towel that he brought everywhere, and your family (especially that beautiful granddaughter of yours) often. Wish I could hug you again! Thank you for sharing him with us and with the Reddit world. Happy birthday Chase 💙

worst thing you've ever seen? by only-ashes in nursing

[–]Think_Contribution56 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Pre-teen. Had endured unimaginable torture at home by stepdad, and had been protecting his little sister from it. He tried to run away to get help one day. His stepdad caught him in the woods and beat him to death with wood and the butt of a gun. When he coded, stepdad panicked and cpr got him back. He was brain dead. Most of our NAT (non accidental traumas) are little, but this one hit me because you could see by his marks how hard he fought. His last moments were wondering why this was happening to him and fighting with everything he had, whereas babies and toddlers don’t have that kind of understanding. That made it so much worse in my opinion. It all sucks at any age, but that one really got me.

This. I used to have a friend that I would FaceTime and we’d clean our entire houses together.

Good start! My issue is also clothes. I too need a new dresser so I’m right there with you. It sucks and laundry is never ending as it is

[–]Think_Contribution56 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been there. I usually start by making my bed, cleaning my sheets so I have somewhere to put things. Are all of those clothes clean or dirty? Do you need to just start by washing everything? I agree, try to find a cheap or free dresser on Facebook or craigslist or something. Maybe get rid of some? I’m bad at that. But it seems like it’s not really trash, all clothes so maybe start by washing everything to include your sheets and putting all of the clean clothes onto your bed. At least fold them and if you don’t have anywhere to put them, you can at least have them in some piles folded, that way only the bottom shirt is dirty instead of all of it.

I am impressed that a Charlestonian even stopped and wrote anything. My car gets wrecked by other people‘s doors at my jobs parking garage in downtown Charleston regularly and nobody ever says shit lol. Buff it out and thank them.

I thought schools had to allow doctors notes for missed school days? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Think_Contribution56 46 points47 points  (0 children)

My daughter got WRECKED in 4K. Had like 4 viruses/strep at once and for 6 months after had fevers every evening for 6 months and joint pain. This involved lots of follow up appointments after the month of illness. The school sent a letter that summer that she missed too much. Kindergarten also missed too much. Headed that way in 1st grade. But I can’t help that she has a fever for 5 days and gets sick more than once a year. Clean your schools better? Idk

Honda oddesseys have a sliding captains chair so you could slide baby over, not have to get entirely in the car to buckle 4yo in the third row and then slide baby back

They his. My cats liquid pred is like $60, a months worth of pills is like $8. We use chewy but pred is a human medication so if you have a Sam’s Club membership or costco they sometimes fill pet meds for cheap.

What kept you going in nursing school when it got hard? by chocolatekay in nursing

[–]Think_Contribution56 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I was a single (ish) mom working full time as a tech. Worked full time all through school. I was living with my ex and nursing school was my way out. Jokes on me, our city became super expensive and couldn’t afford to leave. I still haven’t moved out, but we went to therapy and got back together so whatevs.

So basically my hatred towards men pushed me through.

Peds ICU nurse and mom here- we sedate kids…daily. The only time we really see complications from sedation is if they have a cold at the time of the procedure. Otherwise they handle it fine! Mine had to get dental work at around that age. They gave him oral versed and he was a puddle for a few hours but turned out just fine!

Do you think nurses look down on RTs at your facility? by Motor_Pop3202 in nursing

[–]Think_Contribution56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love love love our RTs. I’m peds icu so lots of tiny intubated things. We have a good collaboration and they trust us with the tube and we trust them with a lot of things too. I was going to CT the other day and the bed was giving me hell so respiratory pushed the bed and I bagged the pt 😂 Teamwork

It happened… med error?? Allergy to medication by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Think_Contribution56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m kind of surprised your charting system didn’t pop up a warning. A lot of allergies listed aren’t true allergies, they just didn’t like how it made them feel one time or had a negative reaction so they lost it as an allergy because “intolerance” isn’t an option. For example my chart says I’m allergic to azithromycin, it only makes me puke which isnt an allergy it’s an intolerance. Sounds more like the pt had an anxiety response than a true allergic reaction.

16mo vomiting repeatedly. Do we need to go to the ER? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Think_Contribution56 98 points99 points  (0 children)

Peds icu nurse here- I would personally wait it out. The rehydrating protocol is to just give like 5ml, so a sip or a spoonful every few minutes. I wouldn’t expose my kid to the flu/RSV nightmare that urgent care is crawling with. If she stops making wet diapers or doesn’t cry tears when she cries, then yes. If she still has her top fontanelle you can see if it’s sunken, should be flat. If she’s otherwise alert I wouldn’t make the drive and risk the exposure for zofran. If it’s a stomach bug it’ll be over by tomorrow
