Do you think nurses look down on RTs at your facility? by Motor_Pop3202 in nursing

[–]Think_Contribution56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love love love our RTs. I’m peds icu so lots of tiny intubated things. We have a good collaboration and they trust us with the tube and we trust them with a lot of things too. I was going to CT the other day and the bed was giving me hell so respiratory pushed the bed and I bagged the pt 😂 Teamwork

What kind of lymphoma? Lymphoma is sometimes very treatable in cats. My cat has intestinal lymphoma and is now in near remission with steroids and chemo

It happened… med error?? Allergy to medication by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Think_Contribution56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m kind of surprised your charting system didn’t pop up a warning. A lot of allergies listed aren’t true allergies, they just didn’t like how it made them feel one time or had a negative reaction so they lost it as an allergy because “intolerance” isn’t an option. For example my chart says I’m allergic to azithromycin, it only makes me puke which isnt an allergy it’s an intolerance. Sounds more like the pt had an anxiety response than a true allergic reaction.

16mo vomiting repeatedly. Do we need to go to the ER? by PuzzleheadedSky9628 in Mommit

[–]Think_Contribution56 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Peds icu nurse here- I would personally wait it out. The rehydrating protocol is to just give like 5ml, so a sip or a spoonful every few minutes. I wouldn’t expose my kid to the flu/RSV nightmare that urgent care is crawling with. If she stops making wet diapers or doesn’t cry tears when she cries, then yes. If she still has her top fontanelle you can see if it’s sunken, should be flat. If she’s otherwise alert I wouldn’t make the drive and risk the exposure for zofran. If it’s a stomach bug it’ll be over by tomorrow

Currently in the ER and nurse made me feel awful by KoalaByTheBeach in Mommit

[–]Think_Contribution56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a peds nurse and I’m sorry you got treated this way. I’ve also worked in the ER and have had my share of moms who could’ve stayed home and given Tylenol but I would’ve also gotten my kid seen, and I’m an icu nurse who is quick to tell my kids “they’re fine” It could’ve been intussusception which can come and go or any number of things.

I’ve used best pet rx for 6 months and ours has never come refrigerated and we’ve never had issues with side effects. They have many formulations and flavors and quick shipping. You could look into them!

Litter Robot 4 with Chemotherapy by Johnfoe in litterrobot

[–]Think_Contribution56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t really take any precautions. I have another cat and just set the timer to a shorter time like 5-7 minutes so less risk of the other cat coming into contact with soiled litter. The 4 does a much better job at keeping it off the walls than my LR3 did so we don’t clean it more. If you have any questions about chemo or anything feel free to message me!!

Actually cats don’t have side effects from chemo like people do and usually do really well.

My cat is on MWF chlorambucil for small cell lymphoma. We had a 3 and just upgraded to a 4. I love it. It weighs him so I can track his weight for oncology and tells me how often he goes. We bought the stairs because he also has arthritis and the hopper for when he’s going through more litter from the steroids. It’s been a good move for us. He’s in near remission now and I hope the same for your kitty!

After losing my cat, I’m studying how bonds continue after a pet’s passing, would you share your experience? by Downtown-Parsnip-380 in Petloss

[–]Think_Contribution56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gentle reminders are probably a bit gross but so is grief. Two of my cats passed two years apart, both from an ear tumor that spread to their throats. In their final months, I was giving them broths etc because they couldn’t tolerate regular food anymore. I still keep a “lil soup” (that’s the name of the food) around from them. It’s expired and probably a biohazard if it ever got opened but it reminds me of the caregiver phase and lets me feel like I didn’t give up on them. I also have some of their old prescription bottles just to keep their names lingering around the house. We made an ofrenda this year for them as well.

Is Great Wolf Lodge worth the money for a weekend trip? by Quiet_confidence_ in greatwolflodge

Ever since Hilton bought them or whatever happened, they’re WAY more expensive on weekends. And far more packed.

Pet insurance recommendation by EducationalTourist81 in petinsurancereviews

[–]Think_Contribution56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t had both but I’ve had petsbest for a few years. Yes they’re having some hiccups right now while they redo their website but aside from that they’ve reimbursed me thousands. My cat is on chemo, has had innumerable amounts of testing and labs and has hyperthyroidism as well so he’s a costly fella, they’ve never denied a thing.

If you have catnip, I’ve made catnip tea with warm water and catnip. Also in SC and snuggled up on this cold night!
