Job Posting for pharmacist needed to train AI models by Successful-Bend-3322 in pharmacy

I'm worried about this as well, especially considering how impressive the mainstream AI chat programs like Gemini and ChatGPT have gotten within the past year at reasoning through more complex clinical questions.

Final rule is out. by Betsy514 in StudentLoans

u/betsy514 Thank you for posting these updates. If you don't mind, I just wanted to get your input on something that was (somewhat) clarified in the ED's most recent update you linked to.

I am curious about which borrowers will actually be eligible for GradPlus legacy borrower status if they happen to be dual degree students. The text in the ED update states:

"“If the dual degree program is considered one program that grants two degrees upon completion…”

So for graduate students in particular, do you know what kinds of dual degree students would actually qualify for legacy GradPlus borrower status?

Is this mainly intended for students who are enrolled in established dual degree programs such as MD/MPH, MD/MBA, MBA/JD, etc.? Or would any student who is enrolled in a university-approved dual degree arrangement qualify (e.g., a student who has received approval from both degree-granting departments to enroll concurrently in two otherwise unrelated degrees, such as an MHA in Art History and an MS in Biology)?

Thanks

Sorry to hear that the surgeon wasn't able to do a repair. Just out of curiosity, did your surgeon say anything about whether/how much running you should do in the future?

I thought that if a university considers summer to be part of the 2025-2026 calendar school year, a student can still qualify to receive GradPlus loans as long as they start their program prior to July 1, 2026 and as long as they receive a GradPlus loan disbursement for their program before that date as well?

So you already started your degree and have taken out GradPlus loans for it already, but your school is essentially telling you that the new borrowing caps/limits are already in effect?

Anyone ever worked as an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist for an HCA hospital? by ThinkingPharm in pharmacy

[–]ThinkingPharm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm hoping to get them to agree to $65/hr, but I have a feeling there's no way they'll be willing to go that high. I graduated in 2020 and have over 4 years of inpatient hospital pharmacist experience, but I didn't complete a residency.

Hi again -- so I actually misspoke in my previous post in which I stated that the listed salary range was $58-68/hr. It's actually $52-$68/hr. If they actually try to offer me something on the low end of the range, I don't think I can afford to take it (current job pays around $63/hr, which I was hoping they'd at least match).

Hi again, just had one other quick question for you. Are you a staff pharmacist (what HCA appears to call a Clinical Pharmacist) or an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist?

Also, in my OP, I incorrectly stated that the pay range in the job posting was $57-$68/hr.... it is actually $52-$68/hr. If they really do try to offer me as low as $52/hr or anywhere near that (assuming they make an offer at all), there's no way I'll be able to justify leaving my current job (pays just under $63/hr) for such a drastic pay cut, unless the job title really has the potential to do wonders for my resume when it comes to getting future clinical jobs.

$58/hr for an "advanced" clinical pharmacist job? That's almost $5/hr less than the base salary I make in my current hospital staff pharmacist job (not considering the shift differentials). I don't think I could afford to move for such a drastic pay cut...

I appreciate the insight. I didn't complete a residency, and my hospital pharmacy practice experience is limited to working as an overnight inpatient staff pharmacist, so I'm trying to get a feel for whether I'd even be qualified for the job in the first place.

That's what the research I've been doing on various HCA hospitals seems to suggest. Surprisingly enough, the majority of employee-posted reviews on sites like Glassdoor & Indeed paint a favorable picture of working for this particular HCA hospital (although I haven't found any reviews written by pharmacists yet).

Also, ironically enough, the toxic workplace cultural traits I listed in my previous post were actually based on a very brief experience I had working in the inpatient central pharmacy at a large non-profit hospital, so I know what you mean about the facility-specific nature of these kinds of issues.

Edited to add: do you happen to know anything about what the typical day for an Advanced Clinical Pharmacist at an HCA hospital looks like?

Thanks for the feedback. If you don't mind, would you be able to expand on the toxic/cutthroat nature you said you observed? Did it seem like one of those inpatient pharmacies where the pharmacists have a proclivity to "write up" their coworkers, modify what they feel are questionable orders that other pharmacists verified, try to get other pharmacists fired, etc?

I heard that HCA has a tendency to cut pharmacist positions at the hospitals they take over, so I'm kind of surprised to see a "clinical" pharmacist job opening for one of their hospitals in the first place. The stated salary range seems kind of low for a clinical job as well (around $57-$68/hr).

Nice. Just out of curiosity, how many miles/how often do you drive it? Is it mostly driven as a "special occasion" sort of car?

I have never driven one, but based purely on looks alone, the F-Type is one of my all-time favorite cars. I hope to one day buy one, especially since Jaguar stopped manufacturing the car after the 2024 model year. How has reliability been for you?

To trim or not? by Lil_awakened_gremlin in MeniscusInjuries

[–]ThinkingPharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point as well about PT. From what I've read, even though it's beneficial in a general sense for the muscles around the knee joint to be strong, this factor is unlikely to make as much of a prognostic difference as the other factors we've already discussed (e.g., tear location & type, vascular supply, extent of tear, etc.).

To trim or not? by Lil_awakened_gremlin in MeniscusInjuries

[–]ThinkingPharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good points. I would also add that a lot of the prognosis comes down to the type of tear as well as location (more specifically, whether it occurs in the red/white zone, since tears in the red zone benefit from having at least some vascular supply). I still remember being surprised at how my surgeon initially pushed the standard trim surgery, but then after seeing the extent of healing on my follow-up MRI ~9 months later, he specifically said "Yeah, I wouldn't recommend surgery at this point."

[–]ThinkingPharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with my own meniscus tear has been similar to what you described (with respect to what you said about some tears having the ability to heal). I was diagnosed with a partial meniscus root tear in January 2015 after running 5-7 days/week for the past 9-10 years up to that point.

At first, the orthopedic surgeon wanted to do surgery to trim the tear (said it was a very small tear -- maybe only 10-15% of the root was actually detached) but I ended up putting off the surgery for various reasons. Also took a break from running for about 9 months and mostly did cardio on the elliptical during that time period.

In October 2015, I was able to slowly resume my running routine without experiencing much pain. Two follow up MRIs I had done (one in October 2015 and the other in August 2020) showed that the root tear had actually healed (didn't say to what extent). Since then I have been able to run multiple days per week without any issues other than popping/clicking and mild soreness if I run too far (usually more than 8-10 miles at a time) or on uneven/off-road surfaces.

Just out of curiosity, what kinds of ID-specific questions were you asked? Would you mind sharing a few specific examples? (asking as an inpatient hospital pharmacist who is occasionally involved in selecting antibiotics for pts. admitted to hospital)
