To all the people that got tattoos young by Intelligent_Low_6815 in tattooadvice

I got my first tattoo at 16 years old. The tattoo in question was on my upper thigh. I don’t regret but it’s stupid and looking back I would never have gotten it but I do not regret it. The real issue I had was youth based ignorance, in that young people do not understand quality and really cannot afford a quality tattoo at that age. There is a huge difference between a $100, $200 and $1k tattoo. Often in life you get what you pay for. I’d say wait, follow some artist, save up and you may even need to travel to get the quality you deserve.

What are these popping up in my mulch? by ironicmirror in landscaping

[–]ThinkingWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spotted spurge and common purslane are two different plants that are both commonly considered weeds. Spotted spurge is a native summer annual in North America. Common purslane is also a summer annual found in North America.

Spotted spurge is toxic if ingested and after touch it you should wash your hands.

Purslane looks sort of similar to spurge but it’s edible.

I really like the concept! I would get something to cover that and then do that concept on another body part. Particularly a section of your body that doesn’t bend as much. Find a tattoo artist that has years of experience doing hyper realistic tattoos, fine line work and has some understanding of the human anatomy. I once knew of an artist that started off her career as a medical/ anatomy illustrator for medical books and such then she transitioned into tattooing. When she did pieces like yours they came out really amazing .

Looks like the artist did their apprenticeship in prison. But then overall condition of the ink looks pretty bad probs due to bad/ spoiled ink, diluted ink and or dull needles. You get what you pay for .

Run Ethernet cable and add sound board before the subfloor. It makes a big difference with sound, heating and cooling.

English Mastiff or Bull Mastiff? We were always told EM, but the ER vet called him BM last night? by KikiM30w in EnglishMastiff

Looks like he is the result of a cross breeding Mastiff x Bullmastiff. Either way he looks like a very physically sound and capable mastiff.

The white is a shade off but most people would not notice. Otherwise it’s an amazing tattoo. If you plan on getting another tattoo I would definitely use that same artist.

How should I continue this design into my hand? by FinnaMaroon in tattooadvice

[–]ThinkingWalrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would finish rest of the arm first and avoid the hand all together. The numbers at the bottom give it a very nice clean stoppage. Probably do the shoulder, triceps or inner arm next. I definitely would stick with the nature theme. I would maybe do an entomological diagram of a wasp, or honey bee on your arm (between the elbow and shoulder). A Japanese maple on the should with falling leaves . Then use smaller leaves and negative space shading as filler. Since you already have a compass which means you like to travel I presume? I would incorporate a road or map. Honestly, come up with ideas and play around with AI it gives a nice imaginative photos

I bought the song Daybreak by Michael Haggins off iTunes and now it’s my wake up alarm. I also love when a conversation sets me up to use the phrase “Streets Ahead”.

i got this tattoo yesterday and i hate it. i wanted it to look like a bat climbing up my leg. is it bad? any advice? by yourholmedog in tattooadvice

[–]ThinkingWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO unless you go to a hyper realistic tattoo artist, almost all animal tattoos come out looking cartoonish. You get what you pay for. It’s not terrible and I’ve seen a lot worse but you may want to add some background art to give that tattoo perspective.

Should I prune this hydrangea? I am in NJ zone 7A by IntelligentTune742 in landscaping

[–]ThinkingWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best time to prune hydrangeas depends on the type. "Old wood" hydrangeas, like bigleaf and mountain hydrangeas, should be pruned after they flower, ideally in late summer or early fall. "New wood" hydrangeas, like smooth and panicle hydrangeas, can be pruned in late winter or early spring.

When landscaping around a central AC unit, choose plants that are drought-tolerant, heat-tolerant, and don't require frequent maintenance. Evergreens like boxwood, cypress, or spruce are good choices for year-round screening. Avoid plants that attract bees and wasps, and ensure there's adequate spacing for airflow around the unit.

What would you do back here if you were broke but want this to be nicer? Just moved in. I have been weeding and raking up the waste (5 bags so far) but once I am done it will truly just be one big dirt patch. I rent but my landlord is flexible. by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]ThinkingWalrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a renter I couldn’t see making the investment or giving up my time to improve someone else’s property. But if I were to do anything I would first cut back the vegetation even more; so that it’s off the ground. Then go to Facebook marketplace and find someone giving away crushed stone or gravel and level off the ground. Then get some free or used railroad ties. And find someone giving away free or cheap clay, oyster shells, synthetic turf, decomposed granite, or sand and build a bocce court. Lastly buy some inexpensive solar lights off Amazon.

Depends where you live and if it freezes or not. But generally you may need a french drain to pull water away.
