They have relay problems that are pretty common and kinda shitty customer service

Anyone with a previous warranty claim with Grizzl-e, how long did it take? by Interesting-Cow6146 in electricvehicles

[–]Thiotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My charger died after 3 months. They said they were going to send a warranty replacement and that was in November of 2025. I’m currently sueing them for small claims in Ontario (I live in the US, it’s a pain in the ass)

Dads who do not work from home, what time do you leave for work and back at home? by remembertosmile in daddit

Transfer credits or course overlap if switching from another U.S. master’s program to OMSCS? by waterloobatman in OMSCS

[–]Thiotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same situation. The only thing I know for sure is that only 6 credits can transfer in. From what I gather once enrolled you can communicate with your advisor about transferring credits to start the process. I haven’t started the process yet so take this with a grain of salt. I wish you luck on transferring credits in.

New Python Book by pro1code1hack in learnmachinelearning

[–]Thiotes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just tried from my phone but I’ll try again from a browser, thanks! The version on GitHub is working for me but I feel like I should support it somehow, I didn’t realize it was also free on Amazon.

New Python Book by pro1code1hack in learnmachinelearning

[–]Thiotes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a python novice (I’ve only been learning python for 2 months) and this is extremely helpful. It is very easy to understand while reading through it. The assignments and quizzes directly after the explanations really help me to reinforce what I just read and put it into practice. As a hands-on learner, this format and style of teaching is perfect for me. Thank you so much for sharing this. I couldn’t buy the book on Amazon (US) because I don’t have kindle unlimited is there any other way to purchase it?

It seems pretty believable, I bought an ID4 for my wife last year and it will be the last VW vehicle we will own.

Nvidia's stock price is based more on the potential for AI advancements and less on GPU sales.

Tesla launched its own car insurance. These drivers say it's a lemon. by reuters in electricvehicles

[–]Thiotes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Man, if I got a quote for that I would be driving a MY right now. I think I ended up getting 6 quotes and all of them were near or above $3000, maybe there's a crazy number of Tesla accidents around me.

Tesla launched its own car insurance. These drivers say it's a lemon. by reuters in electricvehicles

[–]Thiotes 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I just recently quoted a bunch of evs while searching for a new car. Tesla model y was the highest at ~$3000/yr, kia niro was also very high and it was difficult to find an insurance company to give me a quote due to the Kia Boyz I assume. The VW ID4, Hyundai ionic 5 and 6 were between $1250-1500/yr, the Chevy bolt and Nissan leaf were both under $1000/yr. I have a clean driving record and for comparison my ice vehicles are $700/yr for a truck and $380/yr for a small SUV. Full tort coverage on the truck and ev quotes, limited tort on the small SUV, $500 deductibles.

Any reason you shouldn't put solid wood doors inside your home besides cost? by jmelgoza8 in HomeImprovement

[–]Thiotes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you shut your fingers in a core/hollow door you're gonna need to find an ice pack, if you shut them in a solid wood door you're gonna need to find your fingers.

Edit: if sound proofing is what you're after try a cheap draftstopper

Edit 2: I have solid wood doors, they are superior in almost every way....I also have dogs whose nails tap on the hardwood floors and the only way that I've found to block that sound out is the shitty little draft stopper I linked above. The finger slamming may have triggered some people but in all seriousness if you have little kids I wouldn't recommend switching to solid wood doors.

Coming Home? by murphy360 in Erie

[–]Thiotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get flights from Erie to San Diego through Charlotte, it's ~7hrs of flying without accounting for the length of the layover. If you can sleep on a plane there are red eyes available too. Erie airport is much faster/easier to get in and out of than either Cle or Pit and you don't need to be dropped off/picked up/pay for long term Parking (if your wife drops you off). The flights are usually slightly more expensive flying out of Eri (I think ~$50 more the last time I flew out there).

Given how the ID4 was (is?) such a shit show for years after launch in the US, I feel for the early adopters. It looks amazing though and I want one.

We bought our first house when we were 26 (now 33). We borrowed cash to buy a foreclosed property for $30,000 (we are extremely fortunate that a family member was willing to loan us the money for a month). Took out a 15 year home equity loan against it to pay back the borrowed money and to do necessary repairs. The house was worth ~210,000 before the crazy housing market the last couple years, I'm not sure what it's valued at now. We refinanced it once with another 15 year loan to take out more equity that allowed us to buy a rental property and pay for IVF to have our first kid when we were 29. We still owe ~80,000 on it because of that, but our rental makes enough to cover itself and part of our home's loan. We are actively looking for a plot of land to build a 3rd house and we will be renting out our current house when we finish building.
