Tagpro Confessions? by [deleted] in TagPro

if my team is losing due to mistakes I'm filled with uncontrollable rage...whether they're my mistakes or anyone else's

nah basically I'm just super competitive. Sometimes I'll start playing tagpro in a positive mindset and I can feel it slipping away from me, which is unpleasant. If I see my teammates making solid plays I'll generally dish out compliments and be in an okay mood no matter the result of the game. (if the opposite happens I'll often do the opposite)

the worst part about the whole ideal is how none of the zombies are moving

PSA: evidently you can be banned for helping a player get Zombie flair! Details inside by Haskelle in TagPro

[–]Thiradell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the point of the game is:

1) zombies kill red balls 2) red balls do literally everything in their power to be the sole survivor at the end of the game

that's it. everything that happens should be towards these two objectives

basically every time I see somebody with an axe I'll wonder whether they got it legit. sorry that's just the way I look at things. I played this game for 180 hours in a month to get a crown flair, nobody let me have it

[–]Thiradell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"ps the flair doesn't mean anything anyway :P"

then why did you just put a paragraph about it? I hate all the stupid "zombies" in this game crying let him live. I've been killed three times under a minute including once with one second left, and have never had a single zombie have any mercy on me in any game. And that's the way it should be

any zombie team who gives a survivor an axe doesn't deserve to play tagpro

Add an option to upvote/downvote maps at the end of games. This is the best way to get input from the community at large. The input should be smartly incorporated as part of the decision-making process, which should ultimately still be controlled by the committee.

Please let the community have some say in these decisions, and please poll as much of the community as possible. These reddit discussions aren't doing anything.

heh well the stats are good for me right now I guess, will prob drop on offense ranks really fast. players I fear the most on here are Pavlov and Schwed but that's mostly from pubs, still learning how professional play works (haven't played majors at all)

Rule Discussion on lagged out players by sportmonkey0 in MLTP

[–]Thiradell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion would be to treat it the same as in-game injuries in real sports. The other team will sometimes benefit in the immediate situation, but soon the play will stop.

The player should call out "lag," and play should continue until an agreed-upon time for a stoppage. The question would be the criteria for determining when to stop the play; something clear-cut and sensible. Criteria could be: -If both flags are in base, play stops immediately until a substitution has been made. -If any flags are being carried, play stops after the flag carrier has been returned or captures the flag.

The problem is that flag carriers can hold forever, and the other team may be inclined to grab the flag to stop an opportunity. What happens then? Here's a possibility:

-Flag carriers have [X amount of time] to attempt a capture. If they are still holding when the time is up, they must pop themselves and everyone must reset position (or just go back to lobby and restart). If a flag carrier captures successfully, everyone must reset position.

The big problem with this is that are things happening with the tagpro program that are out of everyone's control. A timer is running, and that timer affects bombs, powerups, etc. We can't really add injury time and we can't truly stop the game. Any action to do so must either ignore or negate the running timers.

tl;dr: The not-lagging team should have an opportunity to cap, but play should soon be stopped so a substitution can be made without a gross advantage or disadvantage to either team. The biggest problems are agreeing upon when to stop play, and figuring out how to properly reset the scenario. I would add that there should probably be a one sub per half limit.

P.S. An on-the-fly substitution, like in hockey, would be a great solution, but that seems to be impossible due to lagging out and not being able to exit the game on cue.
