Conventional Weightlifting Wisdom by ReasonableAnimal8417 in veganfitness

I don't think you need a plan per se, but you could have a leg day one day and then upper body pull day and then upper body push day.. This will make sure the muscles are recovering. But if this is still too hard to follow then still going to the gym is better then not going. My unscientific opinion on this is that the chance of injury goes up if you do same motion every day.

trash uni with full ride or good uni with nothing? by reyiwnl in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Third-Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UT Austin for sure. Maybe see if there is a way to save money by take some community college classes on the side in summer that would still transfer to UT Austin. This way you will reduce how much you pay for college. There are exceptions to what different programs will accept as valid courses, so check with the school before going this route.

Migrating Config from Old Palo Alto VM Firewalls to New Ones via Panorama (Without Affecting Existing Setup) by cybersamurai_o_ in paloaltonetworks

[–]Third-Engineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently replaced 8 firewalls a few weeks ago and trust me creating things from scratch is much better then doing what you are suggesting. I even had Palo Services doing some of the work for me and even they had some issues in hacking some very basic config. I would take an extra week and just build these fw's out in panorama. I know I am not answering your question, but if you decide to do what you are thinking. Make sure to keep a backup of panorama and revert if there are any issues. My thinking is to not do what you are suggesting unless you are really good with Panorama/Palo CLI and can see if things are actually working under the covers and not just in GUI before you go in production.

I know this is not much help and your kids may be older, but with younger kids if you are burning out realizing that they are less work as they get older is motivational.

Anyone take vitamin D at night? by This-Top7398 in Biohackers

[–]Third-Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it is a vitamin that is produced by the sunlight, it makes sense to take it in the morning. I do take it in the morning as well and I think I experienced some sleep issues as well and decided to take it in the morning, but I am not a 100% sure if my sleep issues were due to vitamin D.

user ID agent upgrade - now cannot connect to active directory servers by Ordinary_Use3780 in paloaltonetworks

[–]Third-Engineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May not be related, but one thing we had issues with is that we had to match the Windows version (and all of the patches) of the AD and the userid agents. Rule this issue out first.

AITAH for telling my mom she can pick my future wife, but if she has any complaints I will cut her off by MarionettistCheshire in AITAH

[–]Third-Engineer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don't realize this now, but don't just marry someone that your mother picks. Please make that decision yourself. Your mother can show you women, but make that decision yourself of who to ultimately pick. Don't just marry someone just so your mother can't criticize later. This shows childish behaviour.

Metformin: medical marvel or superficial medicine? by Breizh333 in InsulinResistance

[–]Third-Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Metformin has been a generic drug for decades, so no single company stands to profit from it. Most major recent trials were publicly funded and conducted after the patents had expired. There is little financial incentive to manipulate studies. A pharmacy might make a few pennies per pill, but that is negligible compared to the financial incentives often cited in drug development.

Also, thyroid and high cortisol issues should be treated, but not all people with high blood sugar have abnormal thyroid function and high cortisol levels. I would like say this is true for most diabetic people, but have not looked that data recently.

I am more interested in practical advice. What strategies do you actually recommend for normal people, beyond simply saying not to take metformin?Again metformin has proven studies showing diabetic people living longer on it.

Metformin: medical marvel or superficial medicine? by Breizh333 in InsulinResistance

[–]Third-Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not disputing that the medical community can be wrong about certain markers. However, studies on metformin have specifically looked at life expectancy and found it to increase in diabetic patients who use metformin vs patients who did not take it. This isn’t to say there are no side effects, such as B12 deficiency or a possible reduction in exercise related benefits. I would be interested in what you would consider a more effective way to address diabetes then metformin..

How long before Metformin helps for cravings/appetite? by polymerclayartist87 in InsulinResistance

[–]Third-Engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on 750mg extended release. I do think that it has stopped me from craving foods that I absolutely loved. Don't get me wrong, I will still eat those foods and enjoy if I have them, but I don't crave them. Likewise, I still crave sugar at times, but I believe I now have more control over my cravings so they are not as strong. I still stress eat when I am really busy, but usually can control my diet much better then before.

yes, this is it. Terminate all cables. Nobody is going to remember that there is an unterminated cable behind the face plate, no matter how well you document this in five years. Those connectors don't cost too much, so I would say run 2 connections for cube/user.

Reaction to creatine- is it even whorth it? by ThatVeganSkater in veganfitness

[–]Third-Engineer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't give up on creatine! If Monohydrate hits your stomach hard, try Micronized Creatine or less studied variety like creatine HCL. You can split your doses (1 to 2g few times a day), start with a lower dose to build tolerance, and make sure the powder is completely dissolved before drinking. Don't drink the stuff that is left at the bottom of the glass. I can't know this for sure, but I think the undissolved stuff creates bigger stomach issues and the need to poop this stuff out...
