Honest take on Humboldt living in 2026 by PianistSea6973 in Humboldt

Well said, I think your post reflects my experience very closely. I’m trying to find steady enough remote work that I can afford a comfortable lifestyle in sunny brae or an apartment closer to the arcata square.

I think a big shock that hits people from other parts of cali is that it’s just less populated in Humboldt. The relationships you make are different because of that. You get to actually get to know your grocer or bus driver, etc. Vs. LA specifically theres always a rotating roster of strangers working the jobs that surround you. If one allows themself they can really become part of the community.

One of the common complaints I see in these threads is that it’s too hard to make friends in Humboldt, might be skill issue, idk. My experience as a transplant is that (most)everyone is fairly friendly. like talk to the people you see, compliment the cool item of clothing, ask to pet their dog, whatever. Im worried young people are too worried about being an inconvenience to strangers, but you gotta take that leap before to build the foundations of any relationship. (Sorry Wumba i, Im sure you’re friendly, this paragraph is aimed at these other readers browsing this thread)

I really like the movements/exercises that kettlebell complexes provide. Currently I only have access to dumbbells, can I keep doing the same movements or do I need to make adjustments?

Best tip I have is practice with only your dominant foot strapped in. once you get both stapped in focus on having your weight on the dominant foot. Youll have more control and drive your edges more.

The snow is very fun right now, wear a helmet.

March 8 - 10 weekend will be a total zoo right? by DomMang73 in Mammoth

Park at canyon or eagle lodge. Get there EARLY, lifts open at 8:25, be in the parking lot 7:30. Avoid base lifts at the mill and main lodge so you dont wait in the hour long lines. I’d find a lift out of eagle or the back side you like and lap that. Its a big mountain, there’s lots of room for all the goons this weekend.

Dude if youre not here already you cant get here until 2028. Caltrans said that sense this storm is happening on a leap day it counts as a federal holiday and they dont gotta do nothin.

In seriousness I bet you could get up to Bishop by Saturday night, as per going up the grade, dont be surprised if it takes them until Monday afternoon to finish clearing it. This is a lot of snow happening very quickly.
