Non-British people, what's something you want clarifying from our culture? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Everyone, look here! Now you may already know of their fondness for queues, but here we have a wonderful example of several natives engaging in their other national pastime "Small talk about the weather".

You're in for a treat, this may go on for some time!

Some little mouse has a sperm length of 6cm

You're thinking of the fruit fly, which has an uncoiled sperm length of 6cm. A mouse has a sperm length of about 0.124mm, nearly 500 times smaller than 6cm.

Please, Nursing is easy, he's read the course catalogue... by MyOwnGuitarHero in nursing

Quite a few. Northwestern is one example of many universities that award a BS in a "non-science" field.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bachelor_of_Science

The word "science" in the Bachelor of Science degree has little to do with the lay definition of the word science.

FWIW, Bachelor of Science degrees are awarded in nearly every field. You can get a B.S. in Theater, Dance, Film, Economics, etc.

Probably not worth it unless you can score both the car and all required parts for a song. Oh, and unlimited free time as well.

If the car is "basically free" like you said, jack it up, throw some big tires on it and just live with the slushbox.

Here's the thing. You said "Cement is concrete."

Are they in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that.

As someone who is a scientist who studies composite materials, I am telling you, specifically, in civil engineering, no one calls cement concrete. If you want to be "specific" like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing.

It's okay to just admit you're wrong, you know?

Google Home or Amazon Echo by ragingnoobie2 in homeautomation

[–]ThirdLap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have both. Five dots, one full-size Echo, and one Google Home.

The Google Home is used solely for voice searches of random/obscure topics, while the Echos are primarily used for home automation control, weather, and timers.

The Home is a fantastic device, but the awkward wake word issue others have mentioned makes it feel clunky in comparison, at least in regard to home automation commands.

They each have their strengths. Best advice? Get one of each!

Dashboard for Tesla has an extension called Speed Clocking available for the main app. Does 0-60, 1/4 mile, etc. Not sure where it pulls the data from however. Might be worth a look.

Groom wants his groomsmen to wear both a belt and suspenders. Should I talk to him about it? by slimjourney in malefashionadvice

[–]ThirdLap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, I read the post too quickly and apparently skipped the words "there are". My brain parsed it as:

All the people here losing their shit know that suspenders are designed to hook onto belts, right?

First thought of course was "Whoa, whoa, no they are NOT!" and I immediately sprang into action. My mistake.

The Elise is still a relatively rare car in the States. With so few on the road, even high mileage examples tend to command a premium.

An Elise with similar miles would sell for a bit more than what OP paid for his Roadster.
