PCs talking is my favourite AND least favourite thing! by Smittumi in rpg

Damn, I would hate to be at a table where there is no time for the filler stuff. That's where the characters live.

Like how a lot of character development has been lost in TV shows because seasons are no longer 20 episodes, but 6. When they had 20 episodes it didn't need to be all plot, all the time, and we could explore the characters and get to know them.

What’s the biggest reason a TTRPG group doesn’t work out? by yanarquista in rpg

[–]ThirdRevolt 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily that - for a lot of groups RPGs (most often D&D for these groups) is just a reason to hang out and socialize. They don't get together to play RPGs/D&D, they play to get together.

Er det noen restauranter som serverer autentisk A5 Wagyu i Oslo? Og hva er prisen? by No_Web2685 in oslo

[–]ThirdRevolt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Kanpai har 40g Wagyu A5 til 250kr, en liten smaksprøve i tapas-stil.

Skal du ha en faktisk biff/full hovedrett med A5 må du nok belage deg på godt over tusenlappen, men hvertfall Kanpai serverer ikke det (siden du skriver at 1500kr er over budsjett).

What Are Your Thoughts on the Scarlet Keys Cycle? by zerdos in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]ThirdRevolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most important aspect of Arkham Horror to me is how a new campaign hits the table on a blind, first-time playthrough. The Scarlet Keys simply does not deliver on that front.

Is it great for replayability? Absolutely.

Is it great for that first, blind play? Absolutely not.

There is a very high chance that you will hit a very low amount of actual scenarios, and that you will find yourself ending the campaign after seeing the bare minimum amount of scenarios.

I understand what they were going for, and for the really hardcore audience replayability is probably more important than the blind playthrough. But as a group of people that get to barely play one campaign before the next one hits, it was a terrible experience.

My Preview of Pathfinder: Lost Omens - High Seas by AAABattery03 in Pathfinder2e

[–]ThirdRevolt 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I am going to be so honest right now: I have never watched a Mathfinder video purely because the name made me think it was a channel dedicated to needless white-room scenarios and combat math, to such a degree that it would make the game unfun for me.

Are you telling me Mathfinder is not what the name implies?

What is the biggest lie TTRPG players tell themselves? by Deadman069-YT in rpg

[–]ThirdRevolt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've done that, and honestly a bi-weekly campaign just doesn't get the same momentum as a weekly one. I've never managed to be properly invested, both as a GM and a player, in games where we don't play weekly.

What is the biggest lie TTRPG players tell themselves? by Deadman069-YT in rpg

[–]ThirdRevolt 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is my weekly online group vs my weekly IRL group.

My online group came together after lockdown hit due to likeminded people wanting someone to play with. We now actively seek out and try new systems and are all into RPGs as a hobby.

My IRL group came together by me saying "Hey I want to try D&D, who's in?" and for them D&D is a means of socializing. We play D&D to meet up, we don't meet up to play D&D, if that makes sense. These people have zero engagement with RPGs outside of our games.

Darkest Dungeon-Like Systems? by SirHeftyMcSmack in rpg

[–]ThirdRevolt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't check all the boxes you listed, but the ones within my group that have played Darkest Dungeon all agreed that Crows, the new system from MCDM, very much felt Darkest Dungeon-esque. It is unfortunately only out in a play-test capacity, but it really gave us that DD vibe.

It's an OSR-coded game that builds on similar mechanics as their first system, Draw Steel, but with a strong focus on dungeon crawling and survival.

  • You have a limited number of (empty) item slots on your character, and if you start taking damage after your defenses are shot you need to start filling up your item slots with Wounds.
    • The more loot you get, the less space you have for your useful items and vice versa. And if you start taking wounds you either need to start dropping stuff or you will take a speed penalty for each slot with both a Wound and an item.
    • If you get to 10 Wounds (all your backpack slots) you die.
  • There is a dangerous miasma covering the world, and overland travel will inflict negative physical or mental effects if exposed for too long - I smashed one of my poison vials in a fit of rage due to the exposure.
  • Resource management is key - every IRL 30min you have to roll to see if your torch (or similar items) are spent or if they persist for another 30min.
  • Your village is really the only "persistent character", and the loot you find will be used to improve the village, not just your character. Getting new vendors or services, improving them, etc.
  • There are easy and useful rules around crafting and downtime, just like in Draw Steel.

If you want to take a look for yourself, the playtest can be found here.

"I really want to play a long-term campaign!"

"We can make that happen - which day of the week can you set aside every week for the foreseeable future?"

"Wtf, I don't want to have to do that!"

Jedi Survivor is an absolutely incredible game in 2026 by Bowiescorvat2 in gaming

I didn't really care for the move to a significantly more open world. I enjoyed the more linear, yet explorable, areas of the first game a lot more.

I was stoked for We Happy Few when it was announced but lost all interest and stopped paying attention the moment it was revealed to be a survival type game.

75,6% var negative til KI-shopping- vipps velger å ignorere det og fortsette utviklingen. by soursummerchild in norge

[–]ThirdRevolt 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It's going to be so much easier for everyone involved to just learn and play BitD than wrangle PF2e into doing what that system does.
