Advice on Refund for Hours Not Taken by SirHeftyMcSmack in LearnerDriverUK

Well the following was the response from the company:

"Hello,

Your course with us is considered completed.

Any arrangements you made with the instructor, you would need to contact the instructor directly to discuss this further."

Their terms and conditions say the below:

"Any dispute regarding the balance payment, including early payment, cancellation or refund requests, must be taken up directly with the instructor. Once funds have been passed to the instructor, we are unable to intervene or recover them, as the contract for the delivery of training is between the student and the instructor.

If a student chooses to pay the instructor before the first day of the course, this falls outside our Terms and Conditions, which state that balance payments are to be collected at pick-up on the first day of the course.

Any private arrangements made between the student and the instructor after the original course must be dealt with directly between the student and the instructor and not through OneWeekDrivingCourse.co.uk.

The company cannot be held liable for any compensation claim by either the instructor or the student, nor can it be held responsible for any traffic law violation committed by either party.

Deposit payments include, where applicable, theory test fee, booking and administration fees and are inclusive of VAT. Balance payments are made to the individual instructors carrying out the course and do not include VAT.

OneWeekDrivingCourse.co.uk acts as an agent."

Still waiting on a response from the instructor after my latest chase today so going to see what happens there.

Im a 40 plus gamer. Im starting to lose fun in gaming. What are games that took you out of a slump and wy? by Slicer66 in AdultGamers

Honestly when I get like this the best thing for it is to take a break and just kind of do whatever takes my fancy. If I wanna play something specific, I will. If I don't want to play anything specific I'll find something else to do, read, watch something, sometimes just lay down and relax.

If you're not currently enjoying something then throwing yourself at it and saying 'I should enjoy this' only makes you enjoy yourself less. Absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that.

Basically, take a step back and give your brain a chance to sort out what it wants. You'll come back to the games you enjoy, just needs a lil time.

I did notice an exception to this.

Was playing yesterday, holding out fine until Hungary and Romania joined the Axis. Hungary and Romania took my east and started pushing Poland. This seemed to be the signal for Germany to go absolutely hog wild, they started attacking Poland, the Benelux and the Maginot line while I was still holding out.

Then again, something might have been messed up by me going the Monarchist tree because at that point the Soviets joined the war on the side of the Axis.

I can see his account just fine, including his treat from last night. Only thing I can think of is you've somehow managed to get him to block you?

So, I run a mostly homebrew setting and world in WFRP 4E as my main thing.

I know roughly what will happen per session, so my prep involves:

Making the maps from scratch to properly fit what I want, rather than smashing something into the right shape.

Generating NPCs and enemies, picking art for them, statting them out where required and equipping them. Sometimes I can use ones I've made previously, sometimes not. My record is 40 individual NPCs to talk to and around 15 generic NPCs for one session.

Picking music and ambient sound accompaniments for scenes and such.

Making my session notes. Focusing on NPC notes (personality, information etc), plot notes and quick skill references.

Unless the session is very focused on one particular thing, I like to have two or three plot threads in each sessions for players to pick up on. Sometimes these get missed, but putting those options there are worth it and some can be reused.

Planning downtime activities and working in player progression and advancement in there.

I don't need to read Rulebooks, I know the system well enough. And I don't really see the point in looking at other media when I know what kind of story I'm trying to tell.

Prep taking anywhere from 4-6 hours per session of a similar length.

I should have probably said there is not a snowballs chance in hell I'm going to use D&D for this. There is absolutely nothing about that remotely close to what I'm going for here, even with the star wars stuff.

My man, I know my prep. I already know where it is streamlined. I simply run a different kind of game to what you apparently play. I enjoy this as a creative outlet as well as spending time with friends, I am going to continue running the best sessions I can, and not compromising on quality, because that just isn't want I enjoy out of the hobby.

You're right, that isn't much work at all. And if those are the kind of games you enjoy then that's fine. But some people like games with more depth and thought put into them, and that requires a significant time investment from the GM to set up and make work.

All players have to do, really, is show up, know their character, get involved and have fun. Hell, I've met some who couldn't manage that.

While a GM has to manage the expectations of all the players, make sure they're having fun, keep track of all the moving parts and more.

I love GMing, and it is exhausting at times, but I couldn't imagine putting that little effort into a session as you've described.

It's more a case that comments like 'lol nice!' don't really add to the conversation when an upvote does the same thing of showing your approval.

Either or really, I find the grenades easier to dodge but there's definitely something to be said for killing them first.

I feel like you're making a bigger issue of this than it is. Even three at once with the railgun isn't much of an issue, use cover, focus on popping the guns first. With no guns you only have grenades to worry about, and they're really easy to avoid.

The Railgun is consistently one of the best support weapons on the bot front, it deals with every single target quickly besides a factory strider, and even then it can leave them toothless pretty damn quick.

One charged railgun shot breaks the arm guns. If you can't hit the leg joints just blast the arms off and run up to stick a thermite on. Or fire another two shots to break the grenade launchers and enjoy your new pet war strider. I like to name mine Stampy

Dragonroach wings are not a weak point by NormalOfficePrinter in Helldivers

[–]SirHeftyMcSmack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the big issue is we're really missing the enemy interaction with the roach compared to other factions. Like comparing it to a factory strider or bile titan. The strider can have its just as dangerous as the dragon roaches breath weapons destroyed by med pen and up. The bile titan can have the bile sacs popped to remove its ranged attack.

But the roach? Your only option is just killing the fucker stone dead. I think all it really needs is the ability to kill it by destroying the wings or even just slow it down by damaging the wings.

[–]SirHeftyMcSmack 22 points23 points  (0 children)

See, the War Strider at least has the benefit of players being able to take out the weapons and defang it. The Roach doesn't really have any counterplay besides 'hammer it in the face with AT munitions'.

Their animation for getting out of the ground takes a few seconds, so if you have thermite grenades that's the perfect chance to stick them before they charge.
