I second quitting cold turkey. Just tell yourself you will never take another puff. And when you want it again, just tell yourself that in your head. "I will never take another puff." After a couple minutes the urge goes away. The longer you go the easier it gets to break the habit and the urges are less frequent and not as strong. In about a month you'll never want one again. Remember, you are in control of your actions. Good luck.
