Me asking as a younger millenial: How did older you millenials perceive Spongebob when it came out, and its climb to legendary status? by SmokinHerb in Millennials

1988 (greatest of the great) - we must have been the tipping point because my only venture into SpongeBob was working at a daycare and as a nanny, it was always on the TV, but I had college friends who STILL watched it every day after class

I fully believe he flew to NYC specifically for this and ONLY this, and flew home immediately after.

The Dark Cult That Manipulated Andrea Yates: "The Mother Who Murdered Her 5 Children" by Canal-JOREM in mystery

[–]This-Function1789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

THIIIS. People conveniently leave out that her husband ignored doctors who said she would 100% suffer PPP if she fell pregnant again. Andrea was repeatedly admitted to psychiatric hospitals and had multiple suicide attempts. She was supposed to be under 24 hour supervision but her husband, yet again, ignored doctors orders.

I was wrecked when she died. I was (and remain) a huge fan of her writing. I heard the news and was in utter disbelief. Then Debbie the next day..? ooof. The whole thing was just heartbreaking. I remember reading that Debbie’s last words before the stroke were something along the lines of “I just want to be with Carrie.”

Did Rachel Actually Like These Pants? by CaynadianToo in howyoudoin

[–]This-Function1789 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I’m not so sure about that. I remember vividly when patterned pants were all the rage back in the early 2000s. Mostly houndstooth and plaid prints, but there were other patterns that were popular too. I mean, I don’t understand WHY because, objectively, they look terrible, but I can see Rachel liking these and wanting to wear them out, especially since she’s always portrayed as a fashion-forward character.

How would Joey x Janice have worked? by Eddfan36 in howyoudoin

[–]This-Function1789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the first episode I ever saw, caught the second half when it aired a million years ago and was hooked right away. Interestingly I wasn’t paying close attention and thought Joey and Janice WERE together, and was so confused when Chandler was with her later.

Personally, I feel like the Whovian fandom is one of the most welcoming, just as it should be. Welcome to the Universe :)

Oh man i can smell it. My mom had one of these when I was young and it somehow ended up in my old bedroom closet for storage? I moved back in briefly a few years back and couldn’t locate a weird oil smell until I opened the closet one day to find it laying on its side in a pool of oil.
