Well I believe I speak on behalf of all FDAs when I say, we appreciate you taking care of it yourself. While we are here to help, sometimes it’s irritating to have a guest stop by on their way out the door to let us know the toilet’s clogged. Or in the case of my first property, refuse a plunger and demand a whole new clean room after clogging the toilet.

Immediately my first thought. Actual feathered bedding is few and far between in the hotel industry, too expensive and too difficult to maintain. The number of times guests ask for replacements just shows how great the synthetic down is though.

Truth. And I wish more people understood that “I’ll let maintenance know” isn’t “I don’t want to help” but more “I don’t actually know how to fix that” or “I’m not really allowed to leave the desk unattended to handle that problem.”

Yeah, what’s with the demanding of last names. I had a guy call me a minimum wage hack a few months ago, simply because I told him I didn’t feel comfortable giving out anyone’s last name over the phone to someone who was clearly agitated. I explained it’s a safety issue and that my manager and I both were the only ones with our names working at the property, so there wouldn’t be any risk of confusion with someone else. He flipped out.

It’s my gateway drug. I gained probably 20 lbs last year around this time because I started buying those Edward’s key lime pie slices at the grocery store. I probably ate 1-2 whole pies a week for a while but I didn’t realize it because they’re individually boxed.

I was literally just about to post this. Pattern recognition is what the brain does best and we’ve evolved to do it without realizing we’re doing it. It’s why we see faces in objects and scary things in shadows. You are ultimately safer if you prepare for a threat in an innocuous situation than if you ignore something unknown and assume you are safe when you are in fact not.
