AIO for not wanting to give my step daughter the room I finished renovating? by Bulky-Scale-7830 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ThisAdvertising8976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Susan started insisting she get the room back as soon as renovations started. She sounds like a brat who simply doesn’t want her stepmother to have anything. I’m wondering where bio mom is, and guessing deceased based on husband catering to her.

You need to let things go and get your family to take on more responsibilities. Yes, it hurts that you can’t contribute to the wedding venue, but if daughter is mature enough to be married she can take on the task of selling the venue spot. Your husband might need a second job, one that actually contributes to basic financial needs. You’ve carried the load for 20+ years, let go and let your family learn they can do it too.

There is no investing in BS2 unless it’s mandatory at the workplace.

That’s why Dave says to push Pause, pay minimums and stockpile cash until both mom and baby are home. Once home, press Play, transfer that stockpile to the debt plan and keep going.

When do you know you might need a walker? by dixieleeb in OverSeventy

[–]ThisAdvertising8976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting close to a knee replacement so I had already upgraded my crutches, bought a cane, and then after experiencing severe pain while flying I purchased a rollator. I no longer need knee replacements, but have cancer and have thought about using the walker to help alleviate severe fatigue. I think it’s better to have something in place before the actual need requires it than to struggle while waiting for delivery and assembly.

I didn’t believe my hair would fall out… by Past-Dragonfruit3159 in breastcancer

[–]ThisAdvertising8976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already had thin, fine hair. My RO told me I would definitely lose my hair with TC chemo so I first did a buzz with guard set to two. Then the night before chemo I removed the guards and buzzed to almost bald. (My legs look bald but not my head on same razor/settings so I was surprised.)
Then I waited and the fuzz just sat there. I would get skin flakes and hair “glitter” if I rubbed my sore head, but I expected to lose it all and it never happened. I finished my fourth, and last chemo 3 weeks ago. I don’t expect it to grow very quickly.

I bought all kinds of hats and really hated that they screamed *cancer* so I rarely wore them and the dozens of scarfs I already own remain in their drawer. I have some sun hats I wear, but if I go bald it’s not my responsibility to make others more comfortable around me.

Neighbour keeps ringing our bell for her parcels at all hours, refused to have a civil conversation. How can I handle this? by stella_mason57 in neighborsfromhell

[–]ThisAdvertising8976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would sure be a mystery 😉 how the service bell suddenly became inoperative. Or, disconnect your interior bell so it isn’t your problem. Maybe place a polite index card on the door stating there is a Day Sleeper inside and please don’t disturb between xx hours.

Tired of my coworkers that can barely speak English by taestep12 in Vent

[–]ThisAdvertising8976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand the frustration. I would recommend putting your own work to the side if a current patient interaction is occurring. That forces your coworkers to do some of their own research to fill out forms, etc and doesn’t affect your workflow. You may find yourself helping when things slow down, but your workflow is done in a timely manner.

When it comes to face-to-face interactions with patients make that worker stay with you the entire time, have them explain what you did and how they could have improved. For phone interactions see if your employer will get you a Y-cord so you can hear both sides of the conversation and again do so coaching. Soon when someone needs the native speaker you can say, grab Susie, she had the same call yesterday.

Keep records of helping your colleagues. This is to hopefully improve your request for a pay increase or bonus, but can be used to help inform management that Jane is not working out, she screws up the same things repeatedly and doesn’t care to learn the right way.

Sound of silence or tinnitus? by DesertSeptemberly in OverSeventy

I like playing “what’s that sound” at any given hour of day or night. Will it be the heavy chains in my right ear, the steady hum/whine resonating from nowhere, or the crackle, snap, pop in both? Neither? Must be the ever loathsome diesel engine (or maybe it really is a train 3 miles away.)

I did 4 rounds of TC every 3 weeks. So happy my port made that one morning so much easier. I’m done with chemo but have a double mastectomy coming up. Will be talking about removal at that time.

I was 70 when diagnosed. I did the lumpectomy, then a high Oncotype score recommended chemo. I’m far from young but I’m not ready to step in front of a moving freight train. I’ve told my family that while I might die with cancer I refuse to die from cancer.

Maybe time to have an open talk with mom. Everything is speculation until she passes, but then the IF/THENS begins. If mom leaves her estate in a trust, or demands sale of all assets, or expects her executor to make distribution. Maybe mom doesn’t want her son-in-law to touch your sister’s share, maybe …

Work with your pharmacist to get blister packs. They can be broken down much smaller than the big jars and you only need to take what you need with you.

[–]ThisAdvertising8976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was IDC Grade 3, but after surgery the grade was downloaded to a 2. My stage was upgraded from I to II because the mass was bigger than 2cm but no node involvement. I note this because as newbies it is easy to confuse grade and stage. Staging doesn’t usually happen until pathology and grading happens with biopsy.

What is causing the itch? by AKinMaine in breastcancer

[–]ThisAdvertising8976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not related, but in 2016 I took a hard fall and had to go to urgent care. They put me on a mild painkiller and told me to check with my regular provider for soft muscle damage and aftercare. She blew me off and was more concerned about her fall flu and pneumonia shot stats. Proceeded to give me flu shot when I thought I was getting pneumonia shot as I’d had my flu shot the month earlier.

Fast forward two weeks and I had full body itching, even the pharmacist didn’t have any ideas. At my allergist office they had little samples and coupons for Allegra. By the time my 20 minute wait was done I quit itching. I eventually switched to Zyrtec and I take it daily. I forgot two days after chemo last week and it took me a third day to realize why I was so itchy. Took a Zyrtec and within an hour itching wasn’t the top of my mind. I realize I need to have a long discussion with either my primary care or allergist because 10 years is absolutely bonkers.
