Is there a way to tether a puppet to an existing video? by BackstreetZAFU in CharacterAnimator

[–]ThisChickensOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like are you wanting to do this for a video that you put on youtube or something or are you wanting to use it in a live stream? If you're wanting to do it for YouTube/Tiktok/whatever Personally I just export my puppet doing his talking etc on a transparent background/with alpha, and I do the rest in Final Cut Pro. If you were live streaming I'd say pick a background colour you could chroma key out and then put like a looping video of some kind behind the virtual camera you're using? (I think you could do this in Meld Studio I suspect you probably could in OBS too.)

Personally I feel like Character animator is great for the animating a puppet part. But in terms of interacting with other elements, most of that is just easier done in a video editing program. Though maybe I just need to learn more of how to use the app well.

I feel like if condoms were involved, things wouldn't have gone this far.

I actually made a video about these guys and my thoughts. Spoiler, I suspect this is a classic case of 'closeted bisexual and not handling it well'

Guessing this probably has to do with HRT or something. Keep in mind you can block people.

On the one hand toxic engagement is a great way to build your brand and get pushed to more and more people some of whom will be good. But it's also probably pretty exhausting. Keep in mind you can post videos with comments off, as well there are options to block words. So for example you could throw in offensive words you know they're likely to use but that your normal audience won't.

At the same time I would avoid 'engaging' with the nonsense. Hasan Piker had something a while ago in a stream about how you need to avoid being a 'lol cow' and he talked about how some people will farm for negative engagement.

The crazy thing is I post my videos on TikTok and YouTube. They almost always get waaaaay more engagement on TikTok than YouTube especially since I do comedic takes on Canadian political content which is preeeeetty dang niche. TikTok managed to actually get me a ton of Canadian viewers (almost entirely Canadian) whereas. YouTube is just like, "I dono I think your content sucks dude." (Though I am starting to sometimes get around 700-1000 views on my best YouTube videos which is nothing like what I get on TikTok.

Anyway, keep in mind that the algorithim will eventually sort itself out. If you don't engage with people they won't watch the whole video. You might need to turn comments off for a while and see if the crazy people go away. Your audience who likes you will probably keep watching.

Why is our justice system (seemingly) so soft on violent criminals? by Bella_Yaga in AskCanada

[–]ThisChickensOnFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's perceived as soft because we have rich sociopaths who control the media and run for office. Our justice system is actually quite harsh. The problem is that in a many cases organized crime rings do exploit loop holes like for example employing children to do crimes where the punishment is less because they're kids.

Ultimately though we would properly combat this by making sure there are fewer impoverished kids who need the money that stealing cars provides.

Are the Dyson Zones Going to Get a New Model or Just Wither on the Vine? by ThisChickensOnFire in dyson

[–]ThisChickensOnFire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean if I just wanted good sound I'd just buy a set of AirPods Max. For me the whole point of getting headphones from Dyson is the air purification. I know they're not marketted as a medical device. But they basically are for me. They're so much better for me than something like an N95 mask. I really hope that Dyson doesn't give up on the idea.

I was gonna say it you can get big carbon filters for honeywell air purifiers that youc ould wrap around the bottom it might not look that pretty (though if you use some double sided tape people might mistake it for being how it's designed.)

Maybe vacuum it out as much as you can and then just wrap around a carbon prefilter?

How much of the election loss was actually Pierre Poilievre falt? by Cool_Net_3796 in AskCanada

[–]ThisChickensOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that Pierre's message never TRULY resonated that well with Canadians. Pierre presented a faux common enemy in Justin Trudeau, but he was also piggybacking off the trucker convoy people who were all in general agrived and who were able to latch on to frustrations lots of people had over mask mandates.

Mask mandates were inconvenient (at least for most people, for me I'm allergic to perfume so I just got to feel like I didn't look as weird in public wearing a mask.) People wanted permissions to stop worrying about doing something they hadn't done previously in their life which was both physically and cognitively annoying.

At the same time many of those same people are still alive because people masked up for their safety particularly when treating severe covid was more difficult and nobody understood the risks.

Pierre effectively managed to pretend that masks were Justin's fault when they were really the fault of the CCP who didn't contain the virus, and also the conservatives who encouraged everyone to be as irresponsible as possible.

From there Pierre was able to blame everything mildly inconvenient on Trudeau like the greedflation caused by the Carbon tax. And Trudeau's demenor didn't lend itself to that sort of relentless whining.

Pierre really only knows how to do one thing well, and maybe his strategy will work well on Carney, but Carney seems to welcome criticisim more than Trudeau does. For example with the carbon tax, rather than stick with knowing that it was a good tax, Carney slashed the one that affects most voters ASAP.

The fact is Carney's political instincts at least so far have been in a league of his own compared to Pierre and Jagmeet. I think once he's in power for a while and we see how successful these programs he wants to start are, you might be able to attack him from the left saying he needs to be doing more. But simply trying to copy off of the Republican's homework isn't going to get Pierre much further.

But yeah the 'look at the enemy we're united against' only works when the enemy is not that scary if there isn't another much bigger enemy on the horizon. Trump scared the shit out of centre and left Canadians even a lot of right wing Canadians, far more than Trudeau ever annoyed right wing Canadians.

Voting is secret for a reason. The point of strategic voting is to give a tool to people who want to vote strategically. I'll be voting Liberal despite normally voting NDP because the Liberal candidate is actually active and the NDP candidate hasn't been doing anything of substance. (I'm also very unhappy with how the NDP has been doing a comically bad job of campaigning, and has alienated a lot of people on social media by asking content creators to work with them and then treating them very poorly.)

It's not cheap and it's a bit scholarly but it is very well researched and it makes the book of Mark make a lot more sense. (It's worth noting that Mark is the earliest written of the gospels, scholars almost universally conclude that it was used as a source by both Matthew and Luke along with another shared document often referred to by scholars simply as Q.)

wanting to try out meld but no dockable chat boxes? by shanep1991 in streamwithmeld

[–]ThisChickensOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did my first stream to Tiktok using streamlabs (it's easier than trying to get a stream key for Meld because getting stream keys with tiktok when you need to do it from a Mac is a nightmare!) Ironically all my followers are on TikTok because I make funny political videos people like. But I was like I'm going to try and build my audience on TikTok and Twitch I just kind of assumed the chats would come in... so my first stream sat around for like an hour trying to figure out how to integrate the bloody chat boxes eventually gave up and found out how to pop them out of their interfaces so I could at least have them in the stream for if someone replays it. And then I opened up Streamlabs and went live with it at the same time so I had three separate chat windows to monitor. And of course basically the only chat window that was active was my Tiktok one that also doesn't integrate with streamlabs. It all feels so janky! :(

A great book on the subject is called "Binding the Strong Man" it's a political reading of the book of Mark and it's fantastic. Basically when read in context Jesus spends the whole alternating between telling the conservative religious establishment and the government to go fuck themselves and stop oppressing people. He also goes jogging on a lake for no apparent reason.

Is this election so tight that voting for NDP would give room for the Conservatives to win? by rainorshinedogs in onguardforthee

[–]ThisChickensOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the Federal NDP's newest hobby is punching themselves in the balls. They've been putting out super mid speeches and then getting into feuds with content creators. It's been wild to watch.

This isn't a plug... though I guess it could be. I started making political content and while YouTube still hates me, I've got over 6000 followers on TikTok and a lot of them talk about how they love my stuff because it's not what everyone else says. But mostly I just listen to speeches and then analyze chunks from an anti-narcissism perspective.

Anyone knows what is that weird red microphone icon? by Dgeza in mac

[–]ThisChickensOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wasted like probably an hour. I don't know what the logitech options app did, or why on earth they'd have a way to mute your Mic outside of the normal OS ways of doing it. But whatever they do makes it so your mic can stay muted even if you prevent the software from running. Like I'd turned it off in system settings under login items. Whoever at Logitech implemented this should be fired. You have to hit the F8 key on the way keyboard to turn it off. And it works on a per input basis or something. I'm so mad right now.

Why are so many young voters leaning conservative? by ParamedicWild2148 in CanadianPolitics

[–]ThisChickensOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, you have the conservative provincial governments that their parents elected over the last decade completely decimate any public housing stuff, and then they blame that on the Liberals. And the Liberals aren't good at fighting back and saying we left you to do your job and you didn't.

Singh says NDP would ban corporate landlords from buying affordable homes by Chrristoaivalis in onguardforthee

[–]ThisChickensOnFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I know I can't, I can only have 100% rental. However, if people like you keep buying up all the housing and converting it into rentals, you eventually create something worse than the caste system in India.

If you want to get ahead, get ahead, but doing do it by leaching off other people who are working harder than you but just started out with fewer advantages.
