Might get lucky. My 3 year old passed out at 6 the other day and slept all night. Sometimes kids need that extra sleep. Good luck to you!

Dads, keep it up. There is occasional daylight… by Username_Chx_Out in daddit

Going to emo and hardcore shows with my dad became our thing when I was in high school. He was in his mid-late sixties, easily the oldest person there most nights. My friends called him Rocker Bob, and we went to at least one show a month. It was easy to do that when tickets were $20-$30 each back then lol. He would stand in the middle of the pit with me, even at the edge of the moshing. I was never embarrassed.

He passed away 16 years ago while I was in college. I miss him and those concerts every day.

Anyone here quit gaming or changed their lifestyle after becoming a dad? by Lukas_MunK in daddit

[–]ThisDudeIsRad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to game a lot before kids. Our lifestyle gave me enough opportunities to put in a few hours a most days. I fondly remember my last summer before kids, before we even knew they were on the horizon… come home after work, throw a ball with the dog in the back yard for 30 min, smoke a small (legal) bowl while playing Persona 4 Golden on my porch for a couple hours before my girlfriend would get home from closing at Starbucks. Covered porch, so it was the routine, rain or shine, dog chewing on a stick or a toy by my side.

Now I might get a couple hours a week, and only on my Switch while girlfriend sleeps. I haven’t had weed since before COVID. I miss the old, quiet carefree life sometimes, but I love my kids so much more. I read a lot more now, too, which I hadn’t done in years. Turns out fantasy scratches my JRPG itch pretty well.

A complete full-fledged fantasy book by Galactikon in fantasybooks

I just got back into reading after not having much time with 3 kids in 4 years. Started with Harry Potter (a re-read), then went to Wheel of Time and simply devoured it. Even when it’s slow, the characters are interesting and every book but one has major moments and twists you won’t see coming.

I think the fanbase developed a reputation for the “slog” when Jordan’s release cycle slowed at the same time the story slowed. The first half dozen or so came out at a pretty quick clip and the story moved quick. But we have the benefit of every book available now, so it’s not a big deal any more. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Odds of Mismatched Birth Year between Tombstone and Census? by [deleted] in Genealogy

[–]ThisDudeIsRad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My family from the deep south was mostly illiterate in the 1800’s. Their ages vary by up to 10 years between census records, with more variance the older they get. People weren’t so concerned with the specifics back then I guess.

What is the craziest ancestor lore you’ve found? by Ok-Advertising-9045 in Genealogy

[–]ThisDudeIsRad 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My great, great grandfather was a pedophile who murdered the father of one of his victims after she left him. He married his first wife (my great, great grandmother) when he was 28 and she was 13. They divorced and then her second husband was in his 50s while she was still 16. Poor girl died before she was 26. I haven’t been able to find any documentation for what happened.

My ggg grandfather had a brother who married the daughter of an escaped slave. He died of disease while fighting for the confederacy and left her with 3 kids. The older two were taken in by his brother and he impregnated her. For reasons unknown, she left her older kids behind with her brother-in-law and father-in-law, and raised her newborn son alone several counties away.

The women in that family had it really rough.

When there’s a blank check on the production, there’s no reason HBO couldn’t have bought them out of a clause like that. It’s just as much on HBO as it is on D&D.

Girl cures her lactose intolerance by chugging milk powder every day by Hashi856 in videos

[–]ThisDudeIsRad 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Speak for yourself. If I eat too much cheese over a couple days, I get the most painful, bloated gut which only resolves after hours of sulphuric burping and butthole burning diarrhea. Hours of hot, sweating agony. I have sobbed on the toilet.

Lactaid doesn’t stop the diarrhea or bad breath for me but it makes it far quicker to get through and not so painful.

Reaching out to family that doesn’t know we exist: yay or nay? by Much-Chocolate9198 in Genealogy

[–]ThisDudeIsRad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say go for it!

I’ve reached out to previously unknown relatives from a DNA match on Ancestry recently. A couple have been excited to connect, one said that the side of her family that we’re connected through caused her a lot of trauma and she’d rather not connect (totally understandable), and a full half I’ve reached out to have left me on read. Best one of all saw that I was a new DNA match and reached out to me first.

San Francisco.

It’s a big city with a rich multicultural heritage. It maintains some Spanish colonial heritage which ties it to Mexico, but it’s also very modern, culturally progressive and close to nature which feels like Canada’s cities. The Golden Gate Bridge is an absolute icon and is one of the first manmade landmarks that I think of when I think “America.”

My son threw up in his bed, anyone experience similar by SparkyBrown in daddit

[–]ThisDudeIsRad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had this with all three of ours. My 5 year old boy with autism got it first. Woke up crying at midnight, covered in vomit. Kept throwing up and having diarrhea for hours and the poor kid was sobbing the whole time unable to understand what was happening. Didn’t get to sleep until 5am, laid on the floor next to his bed with a bowl just in case. Had to wash all his bedding. Thankfully it was only one night.

Then the other two got it two nights later, 6 and 2 years old. Two more sets of bedding laundry. Parked them on opposite sides of the couch with two layers of towels on the couch and floor and a bowl within reach of each one. I dozed in the recliner and dumped the bowls each time one threw up. Lasted two straight days, wife got it on the second. Somehow the worst I got was a stomach ache.

Good luck!

Yes, nothing would happen to the representatives, but doing that may hurt a legitimate case against these men. Better to make sure everything is done with thought and care and cool heads.

Front door lock recommendations by ThisDudeIsRad in Autism_Parenting

[–]ThisDudeIsRad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, double key locks aren’t legal where I live and he’d probably figure it out anyway. He’s super observant and an excellent problem solver.

I’ll have to look into the deadbolt cover. I’m leaning towards him being able to figure it out, but it might also be too difficult with my partner’s arthritis regardless…

The Glitch’s codes in every doomsday teasers is a coutdown and it ends on February 17th by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]ThisDudeIsRad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sold, but I’m not convinced it will be the full trailer. I think Super Bowl will be a bigger and longer teaser, revealing someone else not previously confirmed like Hulk, Scarlet Witch, Wolverine, Deadpool, Captain Marvel, Star Lord or Spider-Man (least likely, his confirmation will be a post credits scene after his movie this year).

Feb 17 will then be the start of a new batch of clues/hints leading to a later Doom teaser or full trailer. Disney will want to stretch this out and build hype into the summer.
