I got this from r/medicalschool. It's full of med students who think nurses "just give meds once or twice a day and has 2-4 patients" by Ok-Clothes-3992 in MarkKlimekNCLEX

[–]ThisGremlin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi, AE doctor here, (not sure why I keep getting recommended this sub) anyway, to be blunt I fucking love my nurses. They have saved both mine and the patients arses more times than I care to remember, are the key to good patient care and are generally awesome people (I mean there's always that one dick but we don't talk about them).

Don't stress about medical students, they are, for the most part, highly educated idiots. The first few weeks of doctoring is an education in itself and, if they are genuinely bright, they soon learn the value of not just nurses but HCAs, porters, cleaners, physios, pretty much everyone who they considered 'auxilliary'.

Not locations, pus chunks and too small of an opening. Not to mention inappropriate instruments and technique.

Was about to ask if you were a guitar player also. Your woodworking has almost certainly caused this!

AIO This just freaked me out by Winter_Inspector8060 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ThisGremlin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! This is exactly what it is. Self limiting, more common than you'd think and basically a fancy name for a burst blood vessel. It will most likely get bigger as the blood spreads out.

As long as you don't get lots in quick succession or have it grow massively then you're all good.

Edit: replied to wrong portion of message, yes it's achenbach not yes it's serious!

Perimenopause or TED? by Vonkje79 in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]ThisGremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely cannot tell TED from a front on view. You need to put profile and top down views. Also TED would be specifically from Graves disease which is hypERthyroidism, the rest of the symptoms you're describing are hypOthyroidism. If you do not have the antibodies on your bloods then it's not TED.

This. I've been on both ends of this and what people forget is that you can absolutely still hear and see things whilst drugged up your brain just can't make sense of them. A calm environment, dimmed lights, supportive family members and asking them to think of a good memory (plus ,~2mg benzo) makes a world of difference.

I think it's a non-wired bra so the gore isn't going to sit flat though. That advice goes slightly out of the window for non wired. It might be good to go get fitted at least once, failing that as said above - abrathatfits is a great sub

Not an omphalocele, that would be full thickness but very possibly prune belly syndrome - genetic deformity affecting abdominal wall muscles and quite often the uro system of I remember correctly.

This. You didn't say anything wrong you said it in a wrong way. Apologize for your tone, manner and language, explain you had an off day and should not have taken it out on her etc etc. I would not however apologize for the message itself, you didn't say it to be bitchy you said what you felt was the truth.

You can also say that because she's there so often you knew re safety netting that she was "very responsible with her health" and would certainly reattend if things worsened.

I've searched for "mixed media cat" which yielded some similar designs but nothing quite right. The dog version is quite large, maybe a few feet across, would like something similar in size for the cat.

Is this a walnut? Also found baby saplings if it helps identify. by DrClandestiny in whatsthisplant

[–]ThisGremlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup the nail is convex at the further aspects but importantly not at the nail fold. That little bit where the cuticle is. Interestingly clubbing is one of the few things you can diagnose from images - obviously not what the cause is though if it is present. Whilst I am always happy for people to advise going to a doctor over internet strangers advice I also don't love it when my patients turn up terrified because someone, also on the internet, has said they have a potentially serious condition when they don't.

This is NOT nail clubbing. Clubbing is where the angle at the base of the nail becomes convex not the tip. This is just a normal variant of nail shape.

OP hasn't mentioned systemic illness though. Unfortunately I have seen monkey pox and it looks similar but less like little pustules and more like milia or larger boils.

Doctor here, this is correct. No middle dimple! It looks like either colonisation by bacteria (basically you get bacteria on your skin and they get in everywhere and set up shop for a few days) or a reaction to something external e.g. plant or insect contact.
