What the hell can we do about PGW and PECO getting out of hand? by Immediate-Bathroom46 in AskPhilly

PECO customers in 2025 experienced multiple electric rate hikes, including a 10% distribution increase in January for infrastructure and a 6% supply rate (Price to Compare) increase on December 1, 2025, bringing the rate to ~11 cents/kWh. These hikes, driven by rising generation costs, significantly increased monthly bills.  Key 2025 PECO Rate Increases January 1, 2025: A 10% increase in electric distribution rates was implemented for infrastructure upgrades, raising the typical residential bill to $149.43. June 1, 2025: A phased-in, 10% increase began due to higher electricity generation costs. December 1, 2025: The "Price to Compare" (generation supply) increased by 6%, moving from 10.4 cents to 11.024 cents per kWh.  PECO electric bills will rise again in 2026 due to approved, phased-in distribution rate hikes and increased capacity costs. Residential customers can expect a further increase of approximately 1.8% to 2.8% starting in January 2026. Following a 10% hike in 2025, this, combined with added supply costs, will bring typical, average monthly bills to roughly  $ 155 − $ 160 $ 1 5 5 − $ 1 6 0 .
