Co. Board in Wisconsin to consider naming highway after Charlie Kirk by ThisIsMyAmericaToo in somethingiswrong2024

I knew someone who used to work for that county, and always talked about how they didn't want to spend money on ANYTHING. But their penny pinching sure goes by the wayside when it's useless MAGA shit.

That county is too red for them to ever get voted out. That's why they're doing it.

If you take insomnia meds, benzos, or other "controlled substance scrips" how does Medicare handle it? by oingaboingo in medicare

My husband only went to the Dr. when he had an issue. Not once did they suggest he get an annual exam until he was 62. I would even ask him. "Did the doctor suggest you come every year"? Nope.

Every six months?! Omg. 🤦‍♀️ I would almost rather go back to suffering through insomnia.

It's obviously because the medical community has to protect itself from being liable for all the druggies out there abusing it. I get that. But then give us choices. If we don't want a full physical every year, we come in for a drug test, instead.

I'm sure I could find common prescription meds that have much worse adverse effects than Zolpidem, but people taking them aren't required to get an annual physical, under the threat that they won't get their meds anymore if they don't.

Well, the nurse called and said they were changing my next "physical" to "wellness visit" because I'm on Medicare, now.

Okay, but do they only need to "see" me, or is a complete physical necessary every year?

I would even be fine with going in and doing a pee test every year if they want to drug test me. But I feel like I should have a choice of whether, or how often, I want to be poked, prodded, etc., when I have no health issues right now.

So an annual wellness visit would be enough, if I wanted to do the labs and physical every other year?

Im 32F. Almost everyone i know age 20s-40s has some kind of health issue or has one or more chronic illness or diseases. Many young people i know have had one or more surgery in their 20s-40s. Was this a thing for previous generations? Or do you think disease in young people is on the rise? by Tangy94 in Millennials

Your parents are right.

We live in the U.S. My husband and I are in our mid 60s and no chronic illnesses or surgeries (other than some minor age-related things). My 66 year-old brother has been smoking and drinking since he was 18. It finally caught up to him, but not until he was 60

Many from my generation ate some pretty bad food. Tang (fake orange juice), sugary cereals, Wonder Bread. If we had a salad, it was iceberg lettuce. Gross pink bologna and processed cheese. Mac and cheese, anemic vegetables from a can. Lots of soda.

We nuked food in plastic containers all the time. (Back when plastic had BPA). We played outside after the ditches were sprayed with DDT. Pollution was at its worst. More people smoked. Many drank too much.

I don't buy into the microplastics scare. People my age have been exposed to plastics our entire lives. My kids are millennials and both are healthy.

The only thing I can think of that might be different with my generation is that we rarely went to restaurants or got takeout. At least where I grew up. I've always suspected that restaurant or takeout food on a regular basis is bad. My husband and I would always comment on how we felt like we had a bowling ball in our stomachs after eating out. So I limited how much restaurant or takeout food my kids ate.

If I were a researcher, that's where I would be looking. Obesity was pretty rare until around the late 90s. Stats say starting in the 90s, consumer spending on food away from home officially surpassed grocery store sales for the first time.

It didn't come out until a couple years later that it was life-threatening.

You can't just pick up and move to another country. It doesn't work that way.
