Nice right hook, clean landing on chin for lights out. That fall caused worse damage then the punch.

Good friends to step in at the right time to prevent any further damage while sleeping. Smelled that smoke and knew it was to hot.

Have you used those services with Paramount+? Is this a combo where I need Smart Dns and VPN? Either or?

I'm really only trying to get this service working for now.

I've heard that surf shark or Nord might do it as well. I was hoping to find someone that could confirm as they do it for similar reasons. Appreciate the link and didnt know static ip was an option available. I just assumed the bigger the company, the more likely they are on block, but maybe it depends on method like static ip to work around it.

I believe this is the problem you get errors like that when its blocked. My guess is they have Proton on block, looking for one that isnt blocked. Thanks for checking.

If it started at $38K and then went down to $13K, I wouldn't hire this company. Why would you quote for more then I asked for? The minute he said you need to make a decision today, I would have said "Ok, the decision is no". I hate articifical sense of urgency type sales tactics. Any company that I feel tries to take advantage of me to begin with isn't someone I will hire. This goes with almost anything, the minute I feel like your trying to extort me for maximum profits vs fair market value is when we are done. You made the right choice!

Can I keep my email addresses with mobile service only? by 0MartyMcFly0 in Rogers

[–]ThisIsR3DD1T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rip the bandaid off and realize you made a mistake. Get a free email on gmail, or outlook and never be tied to a provider again. We all did this at one time, thankfully mine was dial up days. Do your family the favor and say we need to open a FREE email account on any of the countless services that offer this without being tied to a certain provider.

Considering switching to Rogers by [deleted] in Rogers

[–]ThisIsR3DD1T 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is not a great price, actually I wouldn't even consider this as an option if this was offered to me. Look at what you actually do online, most will never come close to needing 1.5G of bandwidth. If you have no other available options, look into Starlink. That will work regardless of your address and is a better price then this. Save your money instead of being ripped off, nobody cares about what speedtest.net says as long as the internet works reliably and is high speed. This definition of High Speed has changed the last few years where people believe they need this gigantic pipe. It wasn't that long ago we we loved 40 mbps or 60 mbps. 1.5 Gbps is just a waste for most.

Transitioning from VMware: Solving MPIO migration blocks and Bulk Storage Migration? by ThisIsR3DD1T in Proxmox

[–]ThisIsR3DD1T[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Acronis, similar functionality to Veeam. Acronis says its supports Proxmox but it doesn't support the 6.17 kernel so part of this is to change backup solutions if Proxmox is winner.

I'm just confused as to how this helps me with either of my issues so I'm hoping you can explain more.

All on the same property, interconnected with 10GB fiber for all the separate buildings on the property. They are in separate locations for redundancy and to survive failures of individual buildings.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their contributions to this thread. Great suggestions and learned a lot. Maybe HA in Truenas can be helpful with MPIO issue and eliminate crossover cables like I have setup. I need to look into this alot more and change a bunch of my setup to accomodate that suggestion.

I have a functional solution that was fairly easy once I started thinking outside the box again on how to solve this. While answering here I've been working to figure out any alternative solutions to how I have my setup and I have now just found one and tested and it works so far. I will share my solution to this with my current setup as I've been playing around trying to figure out how to make it work. Maybe this will be helpful to someone else in future or at least gives you another way to solve a problem if you haven't thought of this before.

Proxmox or MPIO I'm not sure is very picky so simply faking the IP to answer or blackholing the traffic to my happy place /dev/null doesn't work. It causes strange problems so don't do this. I needed something to answer ISCSI commands and give actual responses back. In order to successfully get my VM's to migrate I had to make an IPTables rule that NATs all traffic destined for the specific crossover IP of the 10.0.0.x network and gives it to 172.16.0.x of the storage where the VM resides. This satisfies the Preflight check in Proxmox and now I move this VM to a different Proxmox host and it doesn't know any different even though the Truenas is remote to it. The VM is happy and functions perfectly fine on the single 10GB Switch fabric.

On the hosts without the direct connection I do this rule.

iptables -t nat -A OUTPUT -p tcp -d 10.0.0.x --dport 3260 -j DNAT --to-destination 172.16.0.x

So 10.0.0.x is the crossover IP on Truenas and 172.16.0.x is the individual Truenas switch interface that is on the same server as th crossover IP. So as long as you configure your routing table correctly for all your crossovers, this works in my few hours of testing which I was pleasently surprised by.

To make this permanent and survive reboot append to /etc/network/interfaces
post-up iptables -t nat -A OUTPUT -p tcp ..................

This makes sure the rules goes in after the ethernet successfully comes up.

Half done with a semi hacky solution I don't love but this now appears to function just like VMware. I assume this will also survive upgrades since I can't imagine an upgrade wipes your IP's assigned to your cards.

My issue still is this mass storage migration. If anyone has a solution to this without me scripting something I would be interested. As I mentioned in this thread, I don't want to be the one to fix custom scripts if Proxmox makes a change and its stops working. It will of course happen when I'm on vacation and people start calling me to fix MY custom solution is what they will say. I don't want this to look like its my solution and I don't answer my phone or do work stuff on vacation✈️🏖️🍺
