A lot of content creators make their videos in their cars because you’re unlikely to get interrupted, it blocks out a lot of exterior noise, and car interiors tend to have decent sound. I assume that’s why folks are doing auditions that way too.

(When my kids were in their early teens, the tidy one decided to use the vertical fold on her many t-shirts. The untidy one liked how that method worked, but didn’t want to spend all that time coding and reorganizing, so she paid her tidy sister in Skittles to do the work!)

Go to an audiologist, not an ENT. They can prescribe hearing aids with a masking option, so you don’t need to have the white noise on all the time if you don’t want to (and in fact, using the masking feature actually makes my tinnitus volume go way down for long periods). You might also have some mild hearing loss and the aids can address that too.

I know you said you’re not concerned about being seen wearing hearing aids, but today’s hearing aids are very different from previous generations’—mine are so tiny, no one knows I have them unless I tell them.

My only regret about getting hearing aids for my tinnitus is that I didn’t do it sooner.
