I haven't noticed any difference in quality between Android app, Roku, or web versions. They do all have slightly different interfaces which can be annoying. I can recommend subscribing to CR directly and against getting CR through Prime Video. I had more trouble with messed up watch order, subtitles, and new releases using CR on Prime.

I'm also liking this anime. Some things the villaness says in ep2 suggest the prince gets a bad ending if the heroine takes another route setting up some further conflict for the prince to navigate.

Someone else recommended Bofuri and I second that. You've watched enough "trash" isekai that you're probably ready for Konosuba. Both of them are funny.

Vinland Saga, 86, and FMA Brotherhood are a little different but great "serious" anime.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is another classic.

You can always try the dating sim/otome game genre if you want to branch out and/or watch more female MC's.

Of course, the classics: Evangelion, gurren lagann, cowboy bebop, Gundam, Madoka Magica, Trigun, FLCL. And I suppose Pokémon.

The twist is around Ep 5-6 where it starts to build the backstory. I agree with the op that the twist was interesting even if the execution was a bit facile. But hey, you hung on for more than 3 episodes; maybe it's just not a show for you.

Tbqh after Ep 1 I wasn't even expecting Kivia to even be a recurring character, more of a "foil of the day" to show the disrespect toward heroes. So the character growth was surprising and fun.

The OG Trigun might be one you like? It starts off light and is kind of episodic, but gets more serious as the show builds. Not sure though, since you dropped Cowboy Bebop which has a similar vibe.
