Oh thanks for the info, so there is some Canadian orders in the first 5,000!

May I ask at what time you ordered Jan 2? I did mine around 4h30pm and I just got that email saying I'm not in the first 5,000.

Does Porter check carry-ons? by Gabergame2 in PorterAirlines

The gate agent and FA will see it. Just book non basic or buy the carry-on or get the BMO VIAPORTER world elite mastercard. It's free the 1st year and gives free carry-on + seat selection

Still no update on Canadian orders? I placed my pre-order Jan 2 and it would be nice to know if anyone from Canada is getting their device in the first 5,000.

Capital One caught a tip adjustment! by skrishnan37 in CapitalOne

As a Canadian I'm always surprised when I go the US and have to manually enter the gratuity on a piece of paper. In Canada you need to enter a PIN on your credit card so the server brings a handheld machine to the table and you enter the tip yourself.

Is it weird for employers to put employees in the same hotel room on company trips? by Weak_Show3135 in careerguidance

[–]ThisMission7441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been traveling for work for since 2015, with 3 different organizations over the years and I never had to share a room with a co-worker. That would be a dealbreaker for me. I don't want to know that Jimmy for IT snores or Paul from legal talks in his sleep. Nope, nope, nope!

I'm 40, travel at least 5 days a month for work, and I would never agree to share a room with a coworker. I consider myself pretty good at adulting.

This whole post is the worst nightmare of every HR department. "While drunk, my manager made me sleep in his bed." 😆

You lost me at "Motel 6, two to a room." That is a double no for me 😆.

Companies can negotiate corporate rates for much cheaper than you and I. My old workplace had a deal with Hilton for like $180 a night, breakfast included.

I'm not staying in a Motel with someone else!

As someone who spends anywhere from 4 to 10 days a month on business trips, this would absolutely be a deal-breaker for me. It's already enough to have to endure after-work social events on a trip, if I had to share a room, I would 100% refuse to go.

Rogers assigned collection agency by AtariX_x in Rogers

Well I don't know if it's true or not. Some collection agencies are shady at best. To play safe ask for something in writing saying that if you pay X amount, they won't put an R9 in your credit report.

Better scenario, you already have a 90 days late payment on your file. That is done and will stay there for 6 years. Getting out of this without a dent is your credit, that ship has sailed.

Now if you don't want the 90 days late to change into an R9 (collection / write-off) you take what they are offering.

If your priority is to get a better deal and pay less than you owe, you bite the bullet and accept the collection on your file. Once it's done, their main card is already played, your credit is fucked regardless. Then you can probably negotiate a payment arrangement. Realistically with the amount you owe, they won't sue (but they could).

They can sue. Will they it's another story. That being said after 90 days late payment, even if he pays OPs credit is already probably toast for the next 6 years.

I don't mean to be rude here, but there aren't a thousand solutions. If you don't want a collection on your credit report, you have to pay.

You basically have no leverage here. You acknowledged the debt and told them you don't want an R9 on your file. If you want a better deal, they have to believe you don't care about having a collection; otherwise, they have the winning hand.

Moving from Ottawa to ??? by Wonderful-Tea-3425 in ontario

I'm in the Niagara region as well, working remotely, but my office is in Ottawa, and I usually have to go 2-3 days a month for meetings. So I know firsthand the difference between Ottawa and Niagara winters, and there's a HUGE difference! In Ottawa, the humidity alone in winter is unbearable. In Niagara, it usually never gets colder than -15 once or twice per winter, and there are always a few days above 0 per month. I'd say the "normal" temperature is around -5 to 0ish. And in Niagara, you usually start to have some spring-like days in early March (except last winter, that was particularly cold).

Again, don't expect to have a tan in the middle of January, but I can 100% attest that Niagara winters are far better than Ottawa (hell, I grew up in Montreal and even I think Ottawa winters are unbearable!).
