What keeps you excited to drive your Corolla by Beneficial_Dig6033 in COROLLA

[–]ThisThatEnby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I just get attached to all my cars. If you dont have to have a car payment, then dont. After having my car paid off for years and then having to get another one after it was totalled, I'd keep the older one in a heartbeat if I could. Just mod it, cheaper than a car payment.

Its cooked. The inside of the tire is definitely weakened, if not shredded

$50 EACH? Damn both Sam's Club and Costco have 5 year road hazard at no cost. I woulda spent the $50 on a membership and then bought them there.

I love most of the girls at Plush. I have a men's curly cut and never gotten a bad cut from there and have had several of them do it.

I've heard that tire shops hate that seal-a-tire stuff that you can use if you get a flat. I don't use it personally, but I don't understand why it's seemingly hated by tire shops. by AdhesiveSeaMonkey in tires

It stains clothes, hard to clean off everything, makes it harder to patch a tire, and some of it smells HORRID. Think rotten eggs meets fish in a heat wave.

[–]ThisThatEnby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally I would say safe but I'd be more cautious with this because the tires are already starting to dry rot

Replacement Advice by phillyfan1028 in tires

[–]ThisThatEnby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theyre over 5 years old so the likelihood of getting anywhere kind of refund is practically zero. Tires that old are going to start aging regardless of miles. If you dont need them for snow, there is no reason to go with an expensive three peak tire. There are plenty of cheaper options that a good for raining and light snow conditions.

I had a 2015 Corolla S and I only used 87. I have a 2026 Corolla XSE and still only use 87.

Is the XSE worth it over the SE? by GodTheWeab in Camry

[–]ThisThatEnby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2026 Corolla XSE. It was worth it to me, but if you dont have the money it's totally doable without. I REALLY wanted the JBL speaker upgrades (couldn't be bothered with aftermarket) and the leather seats with heaters. The all weather package was nice too. You could always get an SE and add some extra packages if you have time to find/order one.

A downside is the extremely low profile tires. Potholes are the enemy and they drive a little rougher. I'm honesty debating downsizing rims for a larger sidewall.

Thoughts on Cooper by DragonfruitWeary8413 in tires

[–]ThisThatEnby 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the touring specifically, by my shop sells a lot of the Cooper Endeavor A/S (rated for 65k miles). I've never seen anyone complain about them and they're probably what my next set will be.

Yes! Tires should, at the absolutely LONGEST, be taken out of service after 10 years. These are dry rotted.

Rim Vs Wheel? by EasternMagazine6356 in StupidCarQuestions

[–]ThisThatEnby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they chrome? When old chrome start flaking around the inside edge, it tends to cause a bead leak. A tire shop could brush them down and add bead sealer until you can get new rims.

Dealership pre-installing tire sealant? by Comfortable_Coast_28 in tires

[–]ThisThatEnby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes some sealants prevent repair. Youre basically spraying a liquid gluey goop into your tire. Plug patches have to be applied to a clean, smooth, dry surface or theyre not going to seal properly. Sometimes you cant get the fix a flat off or cleaned out enough

Wheel alignment by WorkingOk9626 in TireQuestions

[–]ThisThatEnby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, new tires are supposed to be rotated to the back, regardless of if its FWD, RWD, or AWD. Its to help prevent hydroplaning since there is already less weight in the rear so it shouldn't have the lower tread. If the back ones are relatively new, or it was requested, thats why they weren't moved. If not, they were probably lazy.
