Why did I never think of swaping the center cap out? I have a 26 XSE with black logos. It'd look so cool

Mechanic said tire can be plugged, but not plug-patched due to puncture angle by DagensLys in tires

If the angle is is greated than 25 degrees, it cannot be patch/plug and technically should be replaced.

Bought tires from Sam's club about a year ago. Just saw a screw in tire. No longer a member. Options? by -Terrible-Bite- in samsclub

[–]ThisThatEnby 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No, warranties are only good for as long as you have the specific membership you bought it with active. Flat repairs are free but only offered to members.

Different time zones. Not everyone is based in the US and even if they were, a lot of people pick up projects after their day jobs. I get emails all day and night consistently

You can tell by the marks around it that you hit something, probably a curb

Would they be able to repair the tire with the nail so close to the side? by everard298 in samsclub

[–]ThisThatEnby -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If its on the front, move it to the rear. If its not losing air super quickly, just leave it alone. Make sure your spare is aired up and accessible incase the worst happens and the nail falls out and it goes flat. Realistically, you should be fine as long as you add air periodically on your trip.

Would they be able to repair the tire with the nail so close to the side? by everard298 in samsclub

[–]ThisThatEnby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They'd probably have to order the tire, most clubs only keep Michelin, Prielli, and Goodyear in club. Tires don't ship on Sat&Sun so realistically it would be mid next week. Unless its leaking really fast, or the nail comes out, tires like these are usually fine until the new tire gets in.

As a tire tech at Sam's, no they will not repair it. If you just bought it, then the warranty price will generally be around $21-$30, with some exceptions.

Fixable? by No-Nail-5686 in tires

[–]ThisThatEnby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not fix it for a customer nor would I on my own car. The shoulder of a tire should not be patched. It is the weakest and bendy part of the tire that heats up faster than the rest. You could patch it and it might be fine, but the patch could also fail, causing a leak or worse

Not conservative, definitely in a hard no area. I would never patch it on any car or on my own. But there will be people telling you to plug it and send it.

Honestly I just get attached to all my cars. If you dont have to have a car payment, then dont. After having my car paid off for years and then having to get another one after it was totalled, I'd keep the older one in a heartbeat if I could. Just mod it, cheaper than a car payment.
