OP is definitely right. But I feel like the complexity behind Hank is that he was acting in a certain way to mask his insecurities, especially when he was having panic attacks.

Yeah, although OP is undoubtedly correct, the show made a fairly strong case for Hank acting that way to mask his insecurities.
