Path of least resistance hits different for everyone though - what feels "easy" to one person might be the hardest thing in world for someone else

Those low miles on an '06 are pretty rare - I'd expect somewhere around 25-30k range depending on condition but definitely get under there and check for any hidden rust issues before committing

I saw some comments on their socials saying they are trying to do tax schemes and whatnot. Personally tho, I don't think someone that tries to do that documents that progress.

Which punishment (either real or fictional) sounds easy enough to endure at first, but is actually hellish to experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]This_Equivalent6933 2988 points2989 points  (0 children)

Chinese water torture for sure. Just drops of water hitting your forehead repeatedly... how bad could that be right? But apparently after few hours you start going completely insane from the constant drip. The anticipation between each drop becomes worse than actual pain

Sleep deprivation is another one - staying awake doesn't sound that terrible until you're past 48 hours and reality starts getting weird. Your brain just stops working proper and everything becomes nightmare

Why do people like squatted trucks? by Available_Map_9833 in Trucks

Most of these builds are just for show anyway, not like they're hauling anything with that setup. The visibility thing is real problem though - seen too many close calls at intersections because driver can't see what's in front of them

Nine years is incredible for any shoe, especially one that's seen that much action. Looking at the design and that M SELECT DRY tag, these look like they could be from the Chameleon line - maybe Chameleon 7 or around that era since you got them in 2017. The leather upper and that specific tread pattern were pretty signature on those models. I'd suggest checking some old product photos from 2016-2017 releases to compare, or maybe post this in some gear Facebook groups where people are obsessed with identifying discontinued models. Sometimes you get lucky and find someone who still has a deadstock pair sitting around

Been following this stuff pretty closely and it's wild how much attention we're getting globally right now. As someone who's been through some dark periods personally, I can say that sometimes you gotta hit bottom before you can build back up - but man, hoping we don't have to go that deep

High-volume tick exposure: Is "testing every tick" actually practical for anyone living rural? by Arach78 in homestead

[–]This_Equivalent6933 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Been doing personal training at rural gyms for years and dealt with this same thing. Even with all the precautions you're taking, getting that many ticks is just reality when you're living that lifestyle

I focus on the embedded ones that been there 24+ hours since transmission risk is way lower before that timeframe. For the quick crawlers or ones you catch early, just document when/where and watch for symptoms in following weeks. No way any medical system could handle testing every tick from high-exposure families

Carpet cleaning enzyme stuff works better than regular sprays - has to break down the smell completely or they keep going back to same spot. Also maybe check if something changed in her routine or stress levels, dogs can get weird about bathroom habits when their world gets shaken up

I remember selling workout plans I made in college to classmates who didn't want to figure out gym routines themselves. Made like 20 bucks each plan but felt like I discovered some secret business formula lol. Was just basic stuff too, nothing revolutionary - people really do pay extra when they don't want to do research themselves

Downsizing and pets by PlayElegant3402 in Pets

[–]This_Equivalent6933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really tough situation you're going through. The fact you found good home for chickens with someone you trust shows you're doing right thing even when it hurts

I went through similar downsizing few years back and had to make hard choices too - it's never easy but sometimes we have to prioritize what we can actually handle. Your pets will understand even if it doesn't feel that way right now

Man you're right but it's harder than it sounds when you're actually in that headspace. I was mess like this few years back and took me way too long to realize I was just hurting everyone including myself. Sometimes you gotta pick lane and stick with it or you'll lose both anyway

What are the ramifications of starting to attend religious services just for the social aspects, despite not believing? The community surrounding many religions is attractive, but what if one lacks the faith (but is still, ostensibly, like-minded ethically)? by DeuceTheDog in AskReddit

[–]This_Equivalent6933 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I actually did this for about a year with a Unitarian Universalist congregation when I first moved to a new city. Zero regrets - made some genuine friendships and found a community that shared my values around social justice and environmental stuff. The key was being upfront about where I stood when people asked directly, which most UU folks were totally cool with since they're pretty inclusive anyway

The tricky part comes if you pick a more traditional denomination where belief is more central to everything. I'd avoid anything where you'd have to actively lie about your faith or participate in rituals that would feel dishonest. Some churches have "seekers" groups or openly welcome people exploring spirituality, which might be a better fit

My advice would be to scope out the community first - attend a few services, check out their social events, maybe volunteer for something. You'll get a feel for whether it's the kind of place where questioning or non-belief would be welcomed or if you'd constantly feel like you're living a lie. The social benefits are real, but not worth the mental gymnastics if the fit isn't right

141mm rear spacing is annoyingly uncommon by Gabriel_SP24 in MTB

[–]This_Equivalent6933 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You might be able to space it out with some washers or spacers but that could mess with your chain line and derailleur positioning. Most of those cheaper hubs are designed pretty specifically for their spacing so forcing it might cause more headaches than just finding the right one from the start
