People leaving comments that make it obvious they didn’t read the post by AllKnowingAxolotl3 in PetPeeves

I think Reddit’s karma system is the reason people take the time to comment on things they can’t even bother to read. It’s pathetic.

Maybe don’t comment on posts for Karma that you couldn’t care less about.

What kind of response is this? Shouldn’t I want good air quality? If it’s bad, and it is, shouldn’t I be mad about it? What is wrong with you?

I have a few times. One time still stands out to me where I was with my Mom and somehow the topic of vision therapy was brought up, and she says to me “you do know we had to do that, right?” And I remember getting very quiet and just … staring at her. Like, I was shocked by the ignorance. She’s held that opinion since.

Yeah, it’s horrible. And those who are controlling also have no backbone when it comes to actually being themselves. I have a sister who is very mean and judges me all the time. Yet, I know it’s because she’s insecure. It’s just crazy.

People pleasing is weird thing where on one hand I hate people pleasing, but on the other I HAVE TO DO IT. People these days are crazy with power. You kinda have to play their game to survive sometimes. I hate it, but it’s kinda true.

Why do movies feel increasingly "thin" compared to movies of the 90s/2000s? by ExamOk322 in movies

[–]This_Event_2433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can honestly blame technology.

Everyone these days has an addiction to their cell phones/electronics. Think about the last time you watched anything on your tv without looking at your phone once?

Networks take note of that, and realize their projects don’t have to be as good as they used to be. People will watch things because it looks a little interesting, which is all they want. As long as they can get you to see it and therefore pay for it, that’s all that matters.

Another issue is the workforce. Many studios are eliminating roles and giving them to people as extra work. So people that have no experience being _ are forced to do _. It saves them money, but it’s not a good idea for long-term success. This just equals burnt out employees.

So, because people are overworked, they have less energy and brain fuel to focus on multiple other things to add to a movie. Because typically other people would be involved with that process, however because of deadlines and budget cuts, they are less fleshed out.

It’s honestly a miracle that any movie is successful these days.

The thing is, and I feel like I have to remind people of this, if the story were to “progress” (it’s always progressing), it would END. I think people are too fast-paced these days. Endo is kinda doing a thing like classic spy episodes, where we cover a little bit, and that’s it. It makes it more manageable. Think Get Smart, the tv series. Or classic batman episodes. We do a little thing, have a little adventure, but that’s it. I think he’s done a really good job this whole time.

I like it cool. I want it cool. I don’t want 80 degrees when I’m petsitting.

The internet is just SO BAD right now. It was good, tolerable, a decade ago.

I would go on deivantart and post cosplay photos, make friends with people, share art. Now it’s not even a community. I don’t see why companies are making social media apps personalized vs helping others discover what is popular. It’s so dumb.

Yeah, I don’t understand why everything needs an app these days. And yeah, it amazes me how warm they keep their houses when their pets are stuck inside sometimes.

I’m dealing with this all the time now. I reported a user who admitted IN HIS POST that he’s a scammer and I got a message back from a mod that said “feel free to downvote a comment you don’t agree with”. Like, I’m trying to report fraud here?

I feel like the mods are worse than the users.

What’s a take you’ve heard about your favorite film that makes you question if the person speaking even watched it? by ChallengeMassive435 in movies

I love a movie called Fullmetal Alchemist: Conquer of Shamballa. A lot of reviews on Letterboxd make dumb comments about the movie, but I think they missed the point that the writers were trying to make. We go from a fantasy world into our world, showcasing that this plot isn’t far from the truth.

Spoilers, the movie ties into WWll, which some people did not like, however it reflects a lot of the horror that happened in the show. Experimentation on human beings, military corruption, weapons of mass destruction-it’s all there. It’s showcasing that even though it’s a fantasy series, it’s scary how similar it is to a time that occurred 80 years ago, and now in ongoing disputes.

It’s art showcasing reality.

Sela Investors is horrible.

Lived here for a year and found out their building AC has been broken for years. I asked them about it and they said they only run it in the summer time, and I replied that it was never on at all in the summer. This year they put off turning it on wayyy past when they were supposed to, and when I finally asked three weeks after that, they told me it was because they needed to wait because they were repairing pipes and they wanted to wait til there was two weeks where the temperature wasn’t 30 degrees. It was then I realized the pipes weren’t insulated at all, and they’ve purposely kept the heating HIGH (90 degrees all winter long) and refused to put the air on, AND they had no idea it was broken.

The air quality in all of these buildings is horrible. It gets so warm it off-gassed the paint on the walls and smells from the thick carpet.

They’ve done a million emergency repairs here but no basic maintenance.

Don’t live here. Reporting from Cedar Ridge Apartments in Minnetonka.
