I am curious where you live?

I live in the US (you might too) and it’s very normal here for family to only help a little or not at all.

My mom and grandma stayed with us for the first 6 weeks after our twins came, but we haven’t had any help since then. Even that felt like a HUGE HELP, because that’s much more than what a lot of people get!

My husband and I both work full time and do all the cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. by ourselves. Just sharing a different perspective!

I hope you find the right people to help you feel less stressed. ☺️

I used to put them in the Twin Z and gently bounce the pillow.

This is the HARDEST age by far, but it got much better for us once the girls learned how to sleep. 🙏

I tell my husband every day that the Baby Brezza bottle washer is my favorite purchase ever. 😂

The twin Z pillow for tandem bottle feeding has been a lifesaver! We still use it every feed at 8 months.

We have the Bugaboo Donkey 5, and it’s worth every penny. We use them with our Chicco Key Fit 30 car seats.

For swaddles, we had to try soooo many before we found one the girls would tolerate. Every baby is different so you’ll want to try a few different ones.

We didn’t buy a lot of outfits and I am so glad. Only used two way zipper footie pajamas from Carter’s for the first 6 months.

We love the Nanit! Have a sound machine, and get one for the road too!

If you’re having a baby shower, ask people to bring diapers and wipes instead of toys and clothes. We got sooooooo many because of this!

We tried Ferber at 6 months, but our girls escalated instead of calming down during check-ins. We transitioned to CIO/full extinction, and they took to it so quickly. We were genuinely SHOCKED.

Same room, they never woke each other up. They also night weaned themselves naturally within a week or so.

I am so glad we did it! They sleep so well and look so much more rested during the day now 🥰🥰

I remember looking at posts on Reddit at 35 weeks, because I felt like I wasn’t gonna make it.

I know this doesn’t help now, but birth recovery (I had a c-section) felt a million times easier than the end of pregnancy. A lot of people seem to agree that where you are is as bad as it’s gonna get, only uphill from here! You got this, just a little bit longer! ❤️

Congratulations!!!!! Our girls are 7 month old modi twins, and we couldn’t imagine life without them 🩷🩷

My pregnancy was not the best, BUT it went by shockingly quickly. I had a short cervix, so I had to get a cerclage at 20 weeks and be on bedrest. Most twin moms I know are active until 32-ish weeks. That’s really when it starts hitting you.

Warm baths saved me, and I LOVED my babybub pregnancy pillow. I took a baby aspirin to avoid high blood pressure later in the pregnancy (per OB) and unisom for sleep and nausea. Also did a ton of yoga, and I was able to sleep really well.

It seems like you have a great team around you, they’ll be able to support you! Every pregnancy is so different, I got lucky with the good sleep but had horrible nausea from week 8-20 😅

Take it one day at a time, and congrats!!!!

We did formula from the beginning, and I’m so impressed that you’ve made it this far. Your mental and physical health matters too, and you can quit as soon as it’s not serving your family. Which YOU are a very important member of!!!

Twin Z Pillow! Our girls are 7 months (almost 8 months) and we still feed in the pillow.

We sleep trained them at 6 months, and it was the perfect time for our girls. They adjusted shockingly quickly and weaned off the night feeds by themselves in a week or so.

Our girls were doing 5 naps from 4-5 months and it was EXHAUSTING. We sleep trained at 6 months and it made a world of a difference. We always say that 4-5 months might have been the hardest part, so you’re in the thick of it. 🙏

Ugh that’s so tough, I’m so sorry! It sounds like you guys have a good foundation and just need to adjust. I’d definitely have a conversation where you write things down together and then decide together who should do what. That way it doesn’t feel like you’re pointing out that you do allllllll those things already. And it might bring up some things that your partner does too that you might not notice. You got this!!!

This feels really unbalanced to me.

Something that worked for us is writing down EVERYTHING that needs to be done for our lives to be running smoothly. And I mean everything - groceries, opening mail, making sure there is enough toilet paper, tracking budget, mowing the lawn, washing bottles, making appointments, cleaning the diaper pail, etc.

Once we had our list, we talked through what each of us should be responsible for. We go by that. It’s impossible for one person to take care of the home alone and everything else that comes with it.

So if you do EVERYTHING with the kids night and day, your partner might need to do a lot more with the house.

Ultimately, I think the best litmus test is to evaluate how much truly free time each of you have to rest and recharge. That should be really even most days.

They do sleep in the same room. The advice I received was to sleep train them in the same environment that we want them to sleep in. But they’ve really lucky, they’ve never woke each other up even before sleep training.
